@IckeWalks loving the Channel Dude..your dad is a fascinating man also ..as a Leicester man born and bred, I lived near the once Upperton Riad Bridge, went to Westcotes school- your dad would know so love all your Leicester railway history Gareth 😀 I remember your dad on ATV ie the local TV Network
The station was renamed in 1926 Cliffe Park Station then Cliffe Park Halt by the LMS as it served as access to the Cliffe Park Hall which had gone back into being a let after being a golf course since 1903 before it eventually become a youth hostel in 1933 as well as access to Lee House, Cliffe Cottage, the boat houses and the various Tree Plantations around the end of the lake. Fanny Bostock for the longest time owned cliffe park hall and had a court order to block leasure activities on the lake. (I work on the railway, The current owners of Lee house still pop over every now and again from the top were as cliffe park hall is derlict)
Hayup Gareth that big stone block structure behind Phil’s head at 12.36, has it got steps to it? Is it an air valve for the reservoir to canal to reduce the blup blup blupping as water rushes out at a rate? as it appears to be inline with the canal estuary at 14.18 is that an overture, kinda like a sump valve or air breather to smooth out the flow, like when you turn a Gerry fuel can on its side or better still if you turn a Gerry can so that the spout is at the back it’ll vent itself as the outlet is higher than the liquid an you get a smooth pour as with any can actually, I was thinking all that lolloping water otherwise would speed up erosion. Great film as ever what a place.
Gareth, that seemed to be a fun trek. I'm sure the bikes make it a bit easier to get between remains and important locations. BTW, that narrow gage line seemed awfully narrow, more like a kiddie train ride like at a theme park. Standard narrow gage in the US is typically 3'6" vs 4' 8.5". However, some are smaller, like the one in your trek.
Great video Gareth and pal's..I lost my first and only Drone at Church Rock Cemetery in Nottingham...still there..gutted, whilst making a video for my UA-cam Channel 😂😂😂
One thing I learned in acting classes: the British talk more toward the front of their mouths/articulators; the Americans, more toward the back (we’re ‘lazier’). Ye British men’s speech - charmed, I’m sure (no really, I am charmed; though not mesmerized into a stupor ;)
Actually I was at home all last weekend...and this....due to weather and bad foot, though ! Still managed a couple of sneaky Mid Week ones with fellow explores !
Such joy watching your trips out with the boys, our past held so much superb history ❤👌🏼

Mate your engineering knowledge is something else.

It is very narrow, isn't it. Hadn't noticed that before this explore.

It's Rushton not Rushdon - my great uncle lived there for 85+ years.. not an ounce of phone signal
Ah what a wally! I am.
Does Phil ever go home,he's always out with other "Urban Ex" folk! Lol

If he was a footballer, he'd have had more clubs than Tiger Woods!
