@KacyDennis I know. When I heard what it was and what it was going to include i was happy to pay anywhere around £1600 to £1800 for it. I was really surprised to see it priced at around £1300
@@AudioAnimalsStudio and yet, do you think it will substitute something like a Dione? if not, what's the main tasks of each where they do not overlap at all?
Paul, curious on how you are getting along with the Pandora and what your uses are and if it is good enough for mastering etc. Looking forward to more videos about this from you. I am seriously thinking on bagging one of these along with the Titian 500 rack.
@braxal6983 well I've just ordered 2 more along with 2 more Titan racks. Reason being is because I've found it highly useful and one just isn't enough for me. I've found I've needed it on the drum bus a lot. Incredible for drum bus processing. Then I'm finding i want to use it as multiband saturation and compression on other sources. It kind of doubles as an EQ too. So there's so many uses for it. Also great on vocals for uses as a de-esser.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio Well, I put in an order for the next batch that shows up at Sweetwater. I just wish it did not take up 3 slots in the 500 rack. I hope to see more videos with you using and comparing to other devices such as the Neve MBT. As always I appreciate your help. You have become a very trusted source for me. Thank You!!
Amazing demo and review as always. Here is a question..... (actually a couple). What would be the best scenario's two use a multi-band compressor just in mastering and if so when in the the mastering chain would you suggest? And here is the more complicated question.... why use this multi-band compressor vs a high end multi-band compressor vs a plugin?
@risingphoenix1484 in mastering i find multiband compression very useful when you want to control the low end but no affect the mids and highs. You can also add compression as you normally would and just have more ability to control the compression. Plugin compression is something I've personally moved away from. Just doesn't sound as good. It serves a purpose but for me it's all about quality and plugins have an interior sound. There's no real difference between this and a more expensive unit. Just that this ones in 500 series format. But Pandora arguably has more features.
Great video as always Paul! Thanks a lot for your wonderful work, it helps a lot. I master in the box with RME ADI 2 Dac and plan to get out the box . I wonder if it makes sense to get a titan rack with calypso module and add the pandora, Rhea, Hyperion or other to serve this purpose ? Since wesaudio modules are recallable and seem to pack great quality for the price . Is it a good starting point? Obviously, you use it exclusively for mixing but do you think some modules can be used on a mastering chain? I also wonder if the conversion of the calypso module is good enough. Thanks again. All the best
@MrHidrissa they can certainly be used for mastering. I just personally don't. But if I didn't have all the 19" rack gear i have, I'd 100% be using it for mastering. The titan rack is a brilliant way to go from in the box to out the box. It's the perfect crossover.

@@AudioAnimalsStudio What are you using it for given the fact that you are a mastering studio and stopped using anything 500 for mastering as the 19" units have better power supplies dedicated to each of the units as we learned in one of your other videos?
@joeyf808 it depends on the track and what i need from the compressor. More often than not the multiband compressor will be positioned near the end of the chain.
@braxal6983 it sounds similar to the MBT silk red and blue plus you have a mid bad also. It's a different sound and the MBT you have more control. I wouldn't say it replaces the silk in the MBT but it does give you a similar sound and option. All in all I'd much prefer this to an MBT as because actually has a great compressor.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio Paul any way you can show us a demo of this with the MBT verses the Pandora. Perhaps I could get this instead of a MBT. Also how would that compare to Fabfilters multiband compressor?

@rhode6354 sometimes I forget how lucky I am to be able to get this kind of gear early. Even if it is only a day before release. I can't imagine now having to wait a month for it after hearing how good it sounds.
Would you say this is on the level of tube tech smc. Also i mix and master do you think multiband compression is better on the mixbus or the master or both
@1kingstan795 I'm currently using for both. Definitely really well suited on your mix bus. It's very much like a multibamd dione. I personally prefer this to the SMC mainly because it has digital recall and the unstepped SMC was a pain to recall. Sound wise they are different styles of compression. I wouldn't say ones better than the other. They are both so different.
Hard to say without having them side by side. However I do have the audio recordings from when tested the Tubetech so I could recall that audio to test. I prefer this unit to the tubetech in regards to functionality and use cases.
