As we get older, the pressures to "grow up" from our family, peers, and society get heavier. What if we had a little extra motivation, and a backup plan?
We teamed up with New Form Digital to create this pilot presentation, think of it like a test drive for an idea we had. Make it on a smaller scale, and if people like it, then there's a better chance we can turn it into something bigger! So spread the word and let us know in the comments if you liked it!

This showed up in my UA-cam feed, and at first I thought it was going to be a short, Buzzfeed-like video. When I saw it was 17 minutes long, I thought "Eh, maybe I'll watch something else," but then the characters started talking, and it pulled me in. You guys did a great job at creating likable, relatable characters, and there were parts where I really felt for the protagonist.
I really hope this takes off!
Wong Fu has a handful of other great short films of this genre. The most known ones are The Last (same cast), Strangers Again, etc. Check them out!
My favourite is the five-episode series Home Is Where the Hans are. They've even just made an actual feature film this year (Everything Before Us)!

I am impressed and resentful of the fact that Harry Shum can still believably play a teen at 34. These two have incredible chemistry and Harry is a solid male romantic lead and Kina is a charming ingenue.
Also I don't know how much it means to me to see an Asian character have a party and he isn't the token Asian in his own story. I hope you guys get what you need to make this happen.

Idk... Personally, I think their chemistry was cheesy as phuck, TBH. All the smiley, giggly laughy sh💩 and both making promises to be each other's backup(inscluding marriage later) and She asks Another guy out to the dance, after their convo. about how women have it so much easier in dating cuz they just have to sit there(btw, SO frustratingly & sexist-ly true!)... I mean, in real life she'd be kind of a b****, and they probably wouldn't end up together or even stay friends. The guy's nice & cute, but of course they make him kind of a pussy lol. I liked the anime porn in his mom's basement line, though! 😂 but, also why does she have to get that lesbo haircut when she's 30?? 🙆🤧 the "teen" her was cuter, sadly, while he aged well. I think they're good actors, though, just the script...I thought was cheesy. But, maybe the next one is better.

This original pilot is infinitely better than the UA-cam Red series. Even though this pilot ends on a cliffhanger, it just still feels so much more satisfying and higher quality than the actual complete series.

OMG Don't get married because of a childhood promise, peer pressure or age! Don't let society judge you. Marriage is a serious commitment which one day will involve children. Children that will test the very bond of your love to its limit. Marry because of love. Not because of the fear of judgement from others. Or the fear of "time running out". A marriage of convenience rarely works.

I agree so much, man. While watching the video, I kept feeling like they were really great friends, but they never really crossed the border between friendship and lovers/relationship. It was like they were just making that promise to be adventurous. Dayem... no wonder they left it off as a cliffhanger. Nothing would ever guarantee how those two would come about.
+Specs8i The point of the promise isn't just guaranteed marriage. The promise is a symbol of the support they have for one another. Because of it, they won't be worrying about trying to find the right one, but they'll be living their own lives to the fullest -- that's when the right people usually come by, when a person is able to focus on their own lives. It's not about marriage not being a big deal. The promise itself is the focus of the story, not the supposed marriage that the audience doesn't even know happens or not.

Watching this again after the first episode on UA-cam Red, I have to say I really like this one better. The first episode keeps reminding me of the movie My Best Friend's Wedding with Julia Roberts, probably because the plot seems really similar. I liked this pilot better, because it's more different and has a refreshing side to it that is just so Wong Fu.

Just watched this for the second time, and still loved it so I wanted to give you all some props! This is one of my favorite videos that y'all have made. The idea is super cute and creative, and it's honestly made really well. I also particularly like the way y'all ended it.
