  • We continued our time in the Svaneti region and made our way from Mestia to Ushguli. It is 46 kilometers from Mestia but the last 15 or so kilometers are unpaved and in pretty rough condition. It made for quite the adventure all by itself.
Ushguli is a small village with only about 300 people living there -- it is actually made up of five tiny villages that go up the valley alongside the river. It is famous for these fortified towers, some being more than 1,000 years old. We literally felt like we had been transported back in time!
We spent a couple of days hiking in the area and enjoying this unspoiled region of Georgia!

Wow what an incredible spot. I absolutely love these vids about the lesser known areas. So cool that you basically had the entire area to yourselves. And I love the drone shots you've been getting.

Jess and Myles, what a great vid. Myles you did a great job driving on that narrow muddy road, and you have really both done a great job of showing us the beauty of Georgia. I would have never thought about traveling there.
One of my fav things was watching the cute little piglets feeding from mom....
We spend the whole month of July traveling out west, including Crater Lake, Sisters OR and of course Whitefish and Glacier Park....Oh, I forgot Stanley, ID..... and yep, we did the hot tub next to the road. Overall we put on 8400 miles and saw a lot of great sights and locations.
We check for a new video from you almost every day....they are the best.... Anxiously waiting for your next one.

Dave and Carole! That sounds AWESOME! I am so glad you guys had a great trip!!
We are finishing up a new video now so should be posted Wednesday AM (EST :)). We had gotten pretty good about an every Sunday schedule.. but then that kinda moved to every Wednesday and then we just feel behind a bit. 😳😳 But hoping to get back on schedule going forward!!
We actually just came home for the past month to see family but we are back on the road... in Kyrgyzstan! Anyway our UA-cam video life is still a good 3 months behind normal life so we have a couple more Georgia videos and then after that is the Balkans. ☺️

@@WaypointofView We have some great news. We unexpectedly have a new addition to our family. It sure is small and I know over time it will become very expensive. So far we have to anticipate all of its needs…. Because talking in an intelligible way is just not happening.
We know it will bring lots of joy to us.
Drat…… I wish I could post a picture here with mom and the new addition.
But, if you did a search for ‘Wolf Pup’ you will figure it out.

Wow guys, this was truly such an amazing video! You did a great job showcasing the raw beauty of the village and landscape. We loved the B-Roll, the driving, the drone shots - it actually makes us want to add it to our travel list.
Your style really reminds us of Kara and Nate from a couple years back - and we mean the element of adventure from their earlier videos, not a dig on quality. You emulate the style well, but it’s also cool to see your bit of spontaneity to stay another day and appreciate the moment.
We just found you guys but have already binged a couple of your vids. You do fantastic work and we hope you consider keeping this going after the 2 years is up!
    All the best,
    Matt & Melissa

    hi,
I plan to go there with a van (fiat ducato). do you think that we can reach there with our car?

    • @WaypointofView
      @WaypointofView  4 місяці тому +1

They were doing quite a bit of construction on the road when we drove through so things might be different now compared to our experience. If the road is still the same condition as it was, it will all depend on the weather. If it was recently rainy or there is still quite a bit of snow melt, then the road could be too muddy for a van like that. The other cars create some pretty deep ruts and it would make it really easy to get stuck. If it has not been too wet then the road might not be too bad. we saw some surprisingly low clearance cars at the base of the town when we arrived. You might want to drive to the nearest town (Mestia) and ask around a the guest houses to get an idea of the current road conditions before you attempt it yourself. You can always hire someone from there as a last resort... If you go for it, once you get to Ushguli, just park at the base of the town and walk. I would not suggest that you attempt to drive up into Ushguli 😂

@@WaypointofView - Reminds me of a time we went to Bimini island back in the 1970's. I made the mistake of giving 1 dog a bite of my sandwich. For the entire week we were in Bimini, a pack of 4-5 dogs slept outside our motel room door, and followed us EVERYWHERE we went for the rest of the week. One local guy even laughed, and asked, "did you feed the dogs?",....and he just laughed when we said "yes".
