Well, what I would had typed here has already been done. I do like the instrument. I’ve been a Django Reinhardt fan for many years, and would love to own one of these, but I’m trying to thin my herd…. One thing I would add…..I watched many a so called “review “ done by violin teachers, who thank dealers for giving them a fiddle, then proceed to tell everyone to go right out and buy it, in so many words. Those, of course aren’t reviews, they’re pitches. I wish they would watch you and learn how to do a proper review! Thank you.
I've been really looking forward to your review as I just received one of those myself this past week. Identical expect for a black finish. I completely agree with everything you've said. I love holding it and looking at it. It is very bright but then I play something like "Hello Dolly" and it sounds wonderful. Thanks for bringing this brand to our attention.
Now that’s different, really interesting historic take in ukulele form. Great review Baz, thanks for bringing another unique, well built instrument to the communities attention. The overtones are wonderful and it’s in a concert body.. Have a great week.
That instrument is overwhelmingly *cool* isn’t it? Like the jazz originally played on the guitars that inspired it. And it seems like there’s a hint of the resonator tone to that sound. Yes, thumbs up from me. Thanks for reviewing something so interesting.
Really nicely done instrument, true to the Selmer it is model after. And now we need to try to find a way for the Southern Ukulele Store to get their hands on this new and first Kanile'a guitar and after that for them to send it you for a review ^^.
Great review as always. Not my favorite but that’s what I love about ukuleles and your reviews. Something for everyone. Feel better. Have a nice birthday weekend with your family !!
I usually have to take your word for it as to volume, tone and timbre through my computer, but with this one, all three are very evident . . . and exactly what is intended from this style instrument. Unqualified ❤ for this one.
Very bright! Not my cup of tea in the looks department, but it sure has clarity and punch, and the price is awesome for a luthier instrument! Great review, Baz!
Thanks for the lovely review, Baz. Have fun next week. What does Mrs Gotaukulele get for a birthday present? Is it uke-related? I know, you can't tell me here as it'll spoil the surprise.
Such a unique look and sound! I think it’s a bargain at that price tbh. Obviously not for everyone, or for every style of playing, but it has something about it for sure!
I love the looks of this ukulele! I also kind of like the wood grain as well. I would not want to change those strings. The knots look very difficult to get uniform. I like the runners and Martin strings. The price is right. The sound is a little to much like a Soprano. I agree Aquila strings would help. Plays well but that is not the sound I look for in a Concert. Love the look but overall not for me. Another great review and different style ukulele for show…thanks ….DOC
I like the retro look and the jangly fingerpick sound! If I order one, I'll ask him to leave off the "Florida" (nub of fretboard that hangs over the sound hole). Useless, I say! Authentic, but useless and silly -looking. ;-) p.s.: You need to put more rum in your tea! Blast that cold right outa there.
Not sacrilege to me - though it wouldn't be a ukulele in the pure sense. Saying that - a lot of cousins of the uke that share this history of the instrument that was brought to Hawaii were very similar and steel strung. I suspect the uke took hold there as gut stringed instruments were easier to keep going.
Oh - this is a horrible bug that I'm finding LOTS of people in my town have. I'm on week 4. Some people are still coughing and wheezing on week 6. Some sort of virus.
What a beautiful instrument.
Very!
Your first review for this builder got me onto the website and I've got something en route to me that is quite different. He is a talented luthier
He certainly is

Thanks Nickie!
Well said, Nickie my friend!

Totally my pleasure!
Happy birthday to your wife! 🎂🎉. Glad you are feeling better.
Thanks so much

My pleasure - thanks Mike!

My pleasure!
Whatever you played, Barry, made me feel good. The sign of a good ukulele.
Thanks for that - just the usual stuff - jazz is not my thing, otherwise may have suited it better!
Yeah,same here,it made me smile...

Yes please!
That's awesome!
Glad you're feeling better now Barry. Lovely clarity very nice 👌 Thanks
Thanks 👍
Very cool looking uke at a good price for what it is. The only issue one might have is finding a case or a bag for the unique body shape.
It arrived with me in a standard pod case for transport - just fine!
I love the look, and I think the tone goes along with it. I prefer a bit warmer tone, but if it wasn't my only uke, I'd leave it as is. Sweet.
Thanks Joe!
Thanks for reply on Aklot. It’s there loss, as I have played one and was surprised how well they were built and played.Thanks.👍
Thanks
Thanks so much Anna!

I appreciate that!

Thanks! (and I had to tone the volume down on the mix!)

Oh, so nice review!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks!
Thanks Bonnie!
Love this design, also their harp-uke is very cool . . . price is good too.
Totally agree!
Thanks for the lovely review, Baz. Have fun next week.

Food related!

Agreed Beth!
Barry, thx for reviewing this somewhat unique instrument.
Allow me to point out, that the 3rd position marker on the fretboard sits in 12, not 10. 😉
oops!
Could you review the Harley Benton BJU-15Pro Banjo Ukulele?
Nice review of a quality uke. Now play "Minor Swing" on it. 🙂🙂🙂
This uke seems to harmonize with itself up in the higher register, but sounds very crisp as well. ✌🏼
Certainly does - an accomplished build
Different thank you..
Very!
Could you please review Ibanez AUC10E-OPN?
An intriguing looking new one - watch this space - will see if I can get one

Yes, very on the soprano side of things, at least with these strings

for a luthier made specialist instrument, in this style, the price is impressively low! i like a lot
Yep, very fair!
A steel string version would be interesting----or is that considered sacrilege in the ukulele world?
Not sacrilege to me - though it wouldn't be a ukulele in the pure sense. Saying that - a lot of cousins of the uke that share this history of the instrument that was brought to Hawaii were very similar and steel strung. I suspect the uke took hold there as gut stringed instruments were easier to keep going.
The instrument is beautiful. You still sound a bit chesty though.
