...yeah, okay. Its been a hot second.
BUT don't worry cause we're hitting the ground running with a stupid long video on things that sparkle! Today's video includes all most of Holotaco's recent launches; including the After Party collection, the Birthday Trio, nail oil, and nail polish thinner 😅 Thats a lot and hopefully makes up for my break.
On a serious note, a lot has happened that hasn't put me in a silly goofy mood and I only really like to make videos when in a silly goofy mood. The camera picks up more than I like it to sometimes.
I'll end this by saying please for the love of god, I don't care how un-comfy you are with the idea, please go to your health screenings. If you can't afford it, there are services available that want to help you. You mean a lot to the people around you.

$6 feels outrageous for 1oz of thinner. The bottles you can get at beauty supply stores are like $5 for 4oz
KB Shimmer sells a thinner using the exact same ingredients at $6.50 for 4 (yes, FOUR) oz of thinner. I have used several bottles now (I DIY polishes) and have been very happy with it.
Agree, that's what I said too. OPI is $9 for 2 ml and Beauty Secrets is $3.50 for 4 ml. Although I heard the Beauty Secrets one has heptane which is not good for glitters, holo, etc so only cremes. Hers is soooo small and outrageously priced. I own everything from her and lately have noticed the upcharge. Even the nail oil pen/refills are soooo expensive. I popped the top off the refill cartridge and refilled it using my own ingredients plus a couple more.
Yeah. That and the hoodie are just outrageously priced. It makes me less enthusiastic about the brand, tbh.

I’m so sorry to have heard of your diagnosis and your father’s cancer. I recently got diagnosed with breast cancer at only 42. It’s really hard to even process and to think about the future especially when I have two young very young boys or fight and live for. I pray that modern medicine and continue to advance to help everyone with this terrible thing called cancer. My thought and prayers are with you and your entire family. Sending lots of love and positive vibes.

I like the brush on the oil pen, but I agree about the button and the flow.
For the star glitter, I wish she'd dropped the glitter separately like the bats for the Safiya collab or in its own topper. The inability to get the stars out has been a major complaint I've seen.
Ruby - I am sorry to hear about your dad, and will keep you both in my thoughts.
My daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the end of the summer - after being misdiagnosed with migraines for months. She’s strong and after two surgeries looks to be in a great position. I am POSITIVE your dad will have a similar outcome! The fact that he has regular check ups means he’s in a good spot to beat this thing.
Take all the time you need and know we are all rooting for you both. ❤💪

I hate cancer so much. I also dealt with this same devastating news a few years back. It’s awful because you feel so powerless. Agree with everything you said about the nail oil! I have sooo many thoughts about it also. Hate the big drips. Also hate that it has no scent, FOMO Lacquer sells their cuticle oils for $4 and they smell sooo amazing. Haven’t tried cuticle buddy yet, but I have enough nail oil to last me a while so I better not any time soon 😭

Yes, thank you for sharing. I've dealt with similar issues this year too, with my own personal health issues and also a close family member's. It's strange how these thoughts will randomly pop in your brain and it can be overwhelming. Be sure to take some time to take care of yourself. I know it's easier said than done, but that's why nail time can be so important 😊 Thank you for your videos and commentary. Your hair is amazing too!
Girl, I've missed you. All the things going on with you... I hear you. Your public love and support you. The whole Mast Cell activation dysfunction whatever ...that's something I'm struggling with too. I'm happy to hear where you live you have found someone who could diagnose you and get you care! My "other" specialists say this is what's going on with me, but no one specializes in this in my area! It's rough. Just know... we appreciate your authentic self. I agree with your opinion about the nail oil, I use only Cuticle buddy specially because of the refilable option!
I also think the thinner is expensive 😅, I compared the price pount with the OPI and they're similar in price, but OPI is available on Amazon so it's cheaper to get for canadians 😅
Starry-eyed is defenetly underwhelming... How they can be so bad with the glitter? It's a problem for literally everyone who have it!
As someone with mast cell issues, that alone is huge, but boy does it help to have treatment options vs. (for me) not being able to eat vegetables or be around my cats or exist without itching constantly. Still get hives when I get emotional, the family "joke" is that I'm currently allergic to feelings, ha ha *eyeroll*. Dang mast cells will degranulate at the damnedest things.
I find that with the hard news it is so important to go easy on yourself and not feel obligated to be cheerful for other people's comfort. I budget in extra 'staring into the middle distance' time, and give myself permission to play mindless video games to distract myself when there are large things happening beyond my control with are extremely stressful and frightening. I think Footless Jo said it best with, roughly, "Things suck right now and they're going to suck for a while and I have to just go with the fact that it's going to suck for a while and not try to pretend I'm okay."
Fatigue is the Worst, but fatigue and grief/trauma responses are just so unfair.
Sometimes life throws bricks at you one at a time. Sometimes it dumps a bucket on you, and every so often, it dumps bucket after bucket and you don't have to be okay with that.
So much compassion for what's going with you right now. It sounds really hard.
