    This is why we need art critics. I would have never looked at the photos through the lens of chiaroscuro and then bringing that eye for contrast to smooth and jagged in the next photo. Great work..

    As much as I've seen pictures of the Pigeon Rock Beirut, yours Strikes me as I've never seen it from that angle before. I am assuming you had to take a small boat to get to that side of the beach. You did a great job, wish you luck Fadi

      Thanks Jad, yes I had to pay to take a boat and drop me off at the beach which is only accessible by boat, def. worth it :)

    Exactly if you never do you never know, I am mad at the people what they don't take leap of trust more than people they do it even if they are not succeeding ....... VERY VERY cool!

      Yup you got to try and put yourself out there to succeed, otherwise you will never know, I am far from it but it does get the brain waves working at all the possibilities. Thanks man :)

    Well done mate. I have been looking forward to this video, been to hear how you got on. The prints looked fabulous on the wall and I am delighted to hear that you made some sales. Congratulations buddy, do you think you'll do it again?

    • @FadiHage
      @FadiHage  6 років тому

      Thanks Chris, Yes i had no idea how it would go, I would say it feels great when people like your work and they buy it. I totally recommend doing a show when you feel like it. Well on the last day of show I wished i had the gallery space for longer than a week. I will do it again next summer I already rented the space for two weeks, hope it goes well. Also it might be a good idea to do like a pop up shop displaying for a longer period in different galleries, like 2 weeks in one gallery and 2 weeks in another location, because if you work is good and your price is right, your likely to sell.

    Nice to hear that all in all was a success. The space you rented looks very nice and comfortable for an exhibition. The art critic had nice words for you, well deserved.
    You have friendly videos, subscribed ;-)

    Congratulations Fadi. Awesome images. These look like they were printed on glass. How were they prepared and mounted?

    • @FadiHage
      @FadiHage  6 років тому

      Thanks Michael, They are printed on Metal with foam backing and metal support to hang them, they sit 1/2 inch of the wall and solve the issue of framing, they arrive reading to hang. I sell on my website all my photos in this medium, because it is very durable. You can choose between finishes, high or medium gloss or satin. These were high gloss finish which i quite like because of the look. They are printed by Bay Photo Lab if you wanted more info :)

    Hats off to you Fadi. Great to see what effort and thought process goes into this, something many a landscape photographer would love to do but not the vision or motivation. Do you feel in the long run it will benefit you and therefore planning on doing another?

    • @FadiHage
      @FadiHage  6 років тому

      Hey James Thanks for the kind words :). I do think in the long run it will benefit me and I am planning to do another, I rented the same space for 2 weeks next summer as a start and i will take it from there. I can say for sure that knowing ahead that I will be doing a show next year allows me to plan better and shoot accordingly I will probably display most of my same photos for sure the photos that sold and any new ones that I might find a worthy enough of displaying.

    Very nice Fadi. Beautifully done prints and the layout was excellent I thought. I have no experience with doing a show so I can only say, it was quite impressive to see what you pulled off. As for the art critic, I have often thought to myself that art critics, teachers, and experts for all forms of art seem to use a lot of words to say very little. I'm from the old school I guess, where you say what you like in a piece of art and say what you don't and let it go at that. Still, it was interesting to see how he described the images. I've had some contest judges explain my prints in such a way that was not at all what I was thinking when I took the photos. Sometimes, after they offer their opinions, I really didn't know if they liked the work or not. In the end, photographs like all other art will attract some people but not others. We each relate to photographs based on our concept of beauty and our own life experiences and it really doesn't matter a great deal how critics explain the work. I thought your photos were very nice from what I could see on my screen and the setup of the facility was well done. .

      @FadiHage  6 років тому

      Thanks Philip, I did think what the critic said to be interesting so i thought it was good to include and getting people's opinion about it. Your right sometimes they nail it sometimes it is hit and miss. it is very subjective based on the person, also the images that sold in my mind i would have thought other images i liked more would have sold but people chose the ones they were drawn to. It was interesting to see what they choose and why.

    The presentation was lovely, and you managed to make five sales, and just maybe some more if people look at your website etc. How did you feel about the sales? Was the cost and time and effort justified for you?
    I thought you laid it out very well, and you got a reasonable footfall; perhaps as time goes on and you do another exhibition, you might do some things differently and perhaps market your event differently! It’s all a learning experience!

    • @FadiHage
      @FadiHage  5 років тому

      Thanks :) I did make a little profit on the sales, def I learned a lot about how to market it and plan the opening better for the next time around, I do plan to make more in the near future and apply what i learned and also hope to learn more too.

    Congrats on such a positive and courageous thing, it takes a lot of confidence and entrepreneurial drive to do what you did. Very impressed. I was hoping to have been in Montreal the week of your show, but unfortunately works commitments changed on me. The art critic staged, right?. He was someone you know doing a cheesy cliched parody?

    • @FadiHage
      @FadiHage  6 років тому

      Thanks Simon for the kind words :) I will be having more shows in the near future. As for the critic, I don't know him but i can see how it could seem like i do :), I thought it was interesting how he was talking about the work and decided to put that in there to share and get an idea of how people feel about it.

    Mate, this was fascinating. Good for you in putting yourself out there as well. Glad it was a success. If you don't mind me asking...did you make a profit? Or was it more done for the experience?

    • @FadiHage
      @FadiHage  6 років тому +1

      Hey Julian Thanks man, I did make a profit of 500 after expenses of rent and printing and promotion. but if you include the cost of getting the photos, I didn't make a profit. but I would do it again, it was more for the experience and getting my feet wet. I would do a lot of the things the same and a lot things different. I would do a longer opening like full day instead of 4 hours, that would create more chances of selling on the opening because all my sales happened after, so i missed out on that. and I would do a closing just like the opening to sell remaining work. I would market the prints as limited edition of say 10 prints, gives it more value to the buyer and you can ask more for price. sorry for the long reply :)

      I like the long reply! Very interesting to hear more about how you got on. I forgot to say in my first reply how I thought it was really cool how you had a display for your videos, and some of your gear. A really nice touch. :-)

      Yes thats a good idea, i have jotted down lots of things I could have done different, I will be having more shows in the near future, this was just getting my feet wet before jumping all in :)
