Comment below on what stories ARE good displays of Batman's detective work! Like we announce towards the end of the video, we are working on the follow-up episode, which will cover Batman stories where Bruce DOES solve the crimes.

Batman is only a good detective when he has a good writer...

I agree. This is the way I feel sometimes about when writers try and write characters who are geniuses...

@@AnansitheSpider8 Yep this is the reason why we lack a lot of good Riddler stories. I mean the Holmes books are great, I love them but with that said Doyle was quite a smart guy. Some historians even say he was on the spectrum. I don't know for sure but yea the reason the Holmes books are good is because the mysteries are good. The same with Christie novels.

No I love that he doesn’t know about the carpet tucker because of his class difference, so I’m fine with him not knowing. He’s learning, it’s only his second year and it fits the theme of the rich being out of touch

Also He has a phenomenal intelligence and a logical mind, allowing him to piece together myriad clues and use them to counter his enemies' strategies. Furthermore, his deductive abilities are supported by some of the best resources imaginable, not to mention a complete disregard for privacy laws.

What does that matter if it's never depicted in the stories?

@@antonyshannon2276 it is depicted in the comics it's the live action movies that don't depict his detective skills the animated versions of the character are the only ones that depict his detective skills which they follow the source material while the live action films don't present it as much when it comes to the character

@@antonyshannon2276 Batman has many detective skills, including:
Skepticism: Batman is always skeptical and doesn't believe the first thing he's told. For example, in Detective Comics #31, Batman refuses to believe the police's initial assumption that a woman was a missing drug addict. Instead, he sees the possibility that she was murdered.
Observation: Batman is a skilled observer.
Logical reasoning: Batman uses logical reasoning to solve cases

I completely disagree with this video and the reason why is Part of being the World's Greatest Detective is having the determination required to train for the role in the first place. Following the death of his parents, Bruce Wayne left Gotham City and trained abroad for twelve years to hone the detective skills he would need to conduct his war on crime.

      Whole bunch of fan wank.
Let's be real here. Batman as a character? We watch or read so we can see him do cool stunts and beat up baddies.
Comic and movie writers aren't really crafting quality detective/mystery stories. It's just an assumed fact that hes supposedly the greatest detective because of the similar wank that of him being a master martial artist by "mastering all 127 martial arts "
Which is ridiculous on the face of it and totally unnecessary- if you know even a bit about actual fighting. It's silly.

Problem is, you're cherry picking only major arcs and modern stories. I grew up on stories from the bronze age where many of them showcase Batman's detective skills. You have to look up the more obscured and underrated stories rather than relying only on major ones which focus on anything but Batman detective excellence. For example, the Hush story would end up after the 1st issue if Loeb was promoting Batman detective skills rather than his new villain at that time.

Yep the next video will be listing out the stories where Batman does solve the mystery. A good chunk of the O'Neil and Adams run will be featured along with other Bronze Age stories. To update on what I said towards the end of the video, the list has grown to now about 50 stories.
