Ngugi was one of the greatest runners of all time at any distance. XC is a pure test of running ability, and he won again and again on all kinds of courses in all kinds of weather.
John Ngugi was just phenomenal. And equally astounding was Kenya's team absolute dominance. They took 8 positions in the top 10 apart from a clean sweep of the medals. Likewise ,the juniors took 6 positions and a clean sweep too. Evidence of their depth in long-distance rumning. Amazing.
Yes without question, he was Ngugi was very versatile physically and psychologically very strong. His cross country performances were exceptional including his gold medal at the 88 Olympics in the 5000. He never had much affinity for the marathon but he had all the attributes to turn excellent performances, if he had made the decision to run the marathon.
Demostracion de que en atletismo de fondo la tecnica no es lo mas importante. En natacion , por ejemplo, esto hubiera sido imposible. Mi admiracion por este corredor, desconozco si tenia algun problema en uno de los brazos. Un saludo.
