How did you study for your mcat?
Oh my gosh I hated studying for that test. I studied for 2 months and took Kaplan review…my worst section was verbal reasoning, I couldn’t stand it cos it was soo subjective 🙄. I was 8 months pregnant when I took the test, I just wanted to get it over with. needless to say I did “just okay” Mcat is the most ridiculous test I have ever taken in my life…still don’t see how that test should determine who gets admission to medschool IMO. The USMLE step 1 was easier and made more sense, but the Mcat? I think it’s just a test to weed off applicants cos there are limited seats. 😊
@@DrGeeMDstudying and pregnant?!? Women are beyond amazing. God bless you. Thank you for the advice. I took the mcat 15 years ago, didn’t do well and moved on to public health. I’m going to start studying and the thought alone is overwhelming. I don’t want to be like last time, with too many study materials. The mcat is definitely a weed out process and it pisses me off lol I’m trying to stay positive
Hi Dr. Gee! Am so happy to find you and your videos. Thanks for sharing your valuable experiences!
I have couple of questions and i would love your input.
I graduated 14 years ago(foreign doctor) took time to raise my family, no clinical experience for a decade... now want to persue medicine and starting with usmle step1. In the mean time want to make my resume stronger so looked into "Direct entry MSN" and thought to myself i could definitely get into clinical setting with this degree working myself upto the match where i can talk about my clinical experience as a nurse practitioner.
Just got a call from the university and they said i cant get in until i do refresher courses since my grad is 10+ years. :(
If not MSN, what could i do to make my resume stronger than the fresh/ young/ with no gaps candidates??
MPH doesnt add much too acc. to my online research. Im interested in clinical medicine not Psych or Public health if i get a residency spot.
What will help me build up and fill up these gaps?? I will be doing usmle 1 and then 2 and 3 before applying and that will add up to 2 more years before applying for the match. Is there anything that can help me get into clinical setting?
Thanks if youve read this far.
Would appreciate your input!

I don’t want to take the MCAT and I want to be DO 😢
I feel you girl :) but unfortunately both go hand in hand. You cannot apply to any DO program without the MCAT.
Do you still need pre reqs if u do Mcat?
@Akile, yes, the pre-requisite classes are a requirement even if you took the MCAT.
How can i start,im a nurse
I’d be happy to answer any specific questions. Please see contact info on my channel
