Clever approach. That works great here. However, I still encourage you to break the insides apart in the event you have odd shapes (circles, triangles, etc), especially in the event that the outside shape is not a rectangle. None the less..... you have an awesome approach in this example.

I'd just take the hole box 9 x 13 = 117 - the 2 you not need 4x3=12 and 6x4=24. So 117 - 12 - 24 = 81
