I used to drive basically the SAME vehicle . Not THAT one . A "Loosely built " with a 93 and a 15 speed R/R behind it . Those Old 903 V-8's are the COOLEST sounding engine on the Planet . Can't Kill them either . Just Keep the Oil High on the stick ad make sure of the Water in it . 15.5 Litres that Revs as high as 3100 RPM . With Straight Pipes you can be clearly heard DAYS away . Very Willing , Honest Engine . A Powerhouse of it's Era . LOVE THEM ! Can't meet Emissions now , but STILL used in some Tanks/APV's making 900 BHP . Reliably .
The V903 was dropped from the U.S. Louisville 9000 lineup in January 1978, but I am unsure as to whether it continued to be sold for Australian (your home turf) Louisvilles beyond that date.
I had both lucky me , no I love the 903 had them in Louisville's and Kenworth's stuff like S2 that did 70 mph , a 3070 Acco that did 87 mph with a 903 , running Melb to Brisy and Syd
Loved the Louisville and 903’s . My old man used to do Perth to Adelaide to Melbourne return with one, he had a hand throttle on the dash as cruise control , aged 8 I would steer it for 1/2 hr or so , so he could get a few 💤 ,any issues just elbow him in the ribs.
Of all the trucks my dad drove I remember this one the most. The sound of that V8 was like nothing else around. 👍

A 903 won't last long with water in it. Electrolysis. You have to have the right inhibitor in it.
@@franko69 Funny Fellow .OK KEEP THE COOLANT UP . Happy ?
The Louisville cabs probably had the best all around view of any truck in the era. I was in one for school and it was fantastic
This was my view whenever I had days off of school
damn that sounds awfully sweet
Very nice

1980 was the last of the naturals here in Oz.
We have a lnt 9000 sounds the exact same! We have a sports muffler on ours but great truck
1980 was the last of the natural V903's, then we had VT300's up until about 1983/4.
The 903 was quieter than the 555
and boy did the 555 rattle like a can of bolts
