Love the 3406b sound. Over 7 years, I drove an 89/L9000 w/a 425B block, 8LL. 20fa/48Rocks, tri axle hauling a tridem pup. The cab was always cold in the winter, even though it had a good heater. just everything was steel, so it was kind of cold. 139k#'s Palladium Concentrate or Gravel. When I hauled sawdust like that, I had a garden sprayer and would wash the walls with diesel, to make sure the sawdust wouldnt stick to it when its cold.
The best trucks Ford ever built. Best in the industry for their price range. Every government entity owned at least one L-Series in the day. I have seen those trucks set up to every possible kind of work, and they excel at it all.
BIG CAT 💪🚜🇺🇸 SOUND IS MUSIC 🎶 TO MY EARS ,,, EXCELLENT SHIFTING BY THE WAY, BEEN SO LONG 4 ME, I'D BE A LITTLE RUSTY AT FIRST...A B OR C HAD A C WITH AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE ON THE INJECTION PUMP, 89' PETERBILT IT WAS IN . AROUND 15 LITRES DISPLACEMENT AND 425 HP MOST OF THEM... SOLID ENGINE
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 There’s not much like a Cat coming alive, especially in the winter. I come from a trucking family & we’ve owned many trucks through the years…Detroit, Cummins, Cat & even gas powered. We’ve had great luck with Cat & Series 60 Detroits & I love their sounds. I’m not sure I’ve even seen the Walking Floor in action before. Quite interesting. Nice old Ford! Great body style those L9000 rigs. Ford sure made some beautiful trucks back in the day! Good stuff. Thanks for the ride along. Sure enjoyed it! 💥🥰✌️
That is just weird. I used to do the same and in fact drove the same L9000 truck. Used to haul shavings from Griffin Porter lumber mill to other mills in middle Ga. Pulled converted trailers with an end gate. They dumped the whole truck. Hated those tarps though. Had a 350 Cummins and a thirteen speed. God that was a lifetime ago (1980)...
Oh it’s got a Roadranger 8LL dump truck transmission that’s like a 9 speed overdrive, with a Lo-Lo gear that’s activated by flipping the blue button on the shift knob. An 18 speed is the other great dump truck transmission. The LS/LTS 9000s were available with the Cat 3406 a and b. The 425hp Cat 3406b was only available in the LTL9000 and LTLA9000 series. The Cat 3406b was a favourite spec of owner operators, and then the 12.7L Detroit Series 60 took over that mantle in the ‘90s.
This truck was factory optioned with the 3406b. I drive it every day. She a LNT 9000 short hood. Option with a/c as well. Horse power is 350 with a 8LL and 40,000lbs Hedrickson walking beam full lockers
Is that a 3406b in an LNT-9000? Ford never sold LNT9000s with Cat 3406a or b blocks. They only installed the 3406a an b blocks in L9000s, LNT9000s, LTL9000s and LTLA9000s. There wasn’t enough under hood space for a 3406 in the short nose LN9000 series.
@@adventure2073 I had the pleasure in helping build thousands of the big L's when I worked at Ford Kentucky Truck. Been retired since 2005 from there , many good work memories. I've spot-welded, mig welded and installed doors on thousands of the big Ford's. Hope yours lasts you a long time more.
How cool it would have been to have got that truck when it was brand new! What a treat!
Love the sound of a 3406. Mechanical music. Cats love to work. The more you load em, the better they like it!

Thank you for driving that Cat the way it should be driven. Too many guys on you tube running to the governors, empty, in the lowest gears.
Ain't nothing like a Caterpillar engine!

@@adventure2073 what model is it ç or b
I delivered for Meadow Gold with a 95 Aeromaxx, just can't beat them for city delivery, and mine had a 3406, 200 WB on Neway air ride!
Love them old 9000's!

my dad use to drive one in the 90s
Great video!
You sound like you're from Maine bud. Just got home from dropping a load up in aroostook county.
Goob 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 found ur UA-cam
These were popular in Australia for falling single trailers or even pulling coal trailers they’re very popular
Nice sounding ford! What kind of transmission do you have? 10 speed?
It’s an 8LL overdrive.
It's PERFECT!!!!

It is a 3406B 350hp. The dog house is huge for it to fit. As far as I know the engine is original to the truck.
This truck is in fact a LNT 9000. Factory 3406 cat, 8LL Transmission. Also factory a/c.
If you put a carpet at the front, it will sweep most of the woodchips.
Surprised to see the cig. in the trailer. Was it not lit?
No it was not
NICE ONE
Just ran across your channel great video and footage love Ford and Cat motors where was this filmed if you don't mind me asking?
Central Maine

that shifter is short lol... ig it gets the job done lol
It used to be tall. But it would hit the passengers leg in high gear. Shorter throw of the shifter is nice too when we’re working in the field
shifting gears without clutch?
Yes sir, this is my ford, my friend did the video.
@@farming_in_maine3435 Ah ah ! thanks, n how is it practically done?
@@saidyahya7184 It is called "floating the gears" in the bizz...

Yes, for cattle bedding.
