I learn about Mormonism through South Park episode on Mormons, it was satirical but spot on. A rare case that you can be somehow entertain and learn at the same time without getting bored
I agree regarding that episode but I do think south Park has also been subject to a lot of misinfo/well poisoning too though. I'm going slightly off topic so my apologies for this, but they have the ability to be really funny when they are portraying things that are inherently ludicrous and harmful like Mormonism, but when I got older I started to realize there were some very serious topics that they had really tarnished the discussion on. When I was a kid I was brought up in a very very religious and conservative household, and I would secretly watch South Park when my parents weren't looking. When the ManBearPig episode came out, every single kid I knew both watched it but also allowed the absurd political message distort their worldview, and for like an entire decade no one my age would take climate change seriously, largely because of that episode. I can't even imagine how much better the discussion of climate change would've been had they actually been honest about the topic, instead of completely misrepresenting it. The ManBearPig was a *literal* straw man, it is a textbook example of it and there's no way they weren't aware of that . Al gore is horrible, and in a way I hate him for actually caring about climate change because his otherwise horrible politics gave conservatives so much more ammo in spreading disinfo about climate change, they were able to attach his name to it and Americans already disliked Al gore so it made it so much easier for the right to do that. South Park can totally be hilarious sometimes but I have a bit of a hard time liking it and the creators because of the whole forced apathy approach they have. They have way too much of the "I am not on *any* sides therefore I am 'in the middle' and am correct! Look at these losers that picked a side!" bias they have. Every single human being has a bias so the fact that everyone always assumed south Park was fair and trustworthy on everything, just because they weren't openly affiliated with a party, is just garbage.
You are on point here. Every time I read that part of the Bible, I always thought "this Elijah must have a high sense of humour". But he was a fine holy man, nonetheless!!!

So whatever happened to..? 1 Peter 3:15: “But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with GENTLENESS and REVERENCE."
1 Peter 3:15: “But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone *who asks you* to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with GENTLENESS and REVERENCE." This is talking about giving a respectful answer to someone who is asking about your faith. Just like how Paul did when he spoke to King Agrippa and stuff. This is not talking about satire and mockery in general. David and Vocab presented their case well.
That verse is not for ALL our interactions. It is only for those asking for a reason. Not for those asking to mock, or even those not even asking for an answer. Mockery of heresy is biblical! Check 2 Peter 2! And Jesus was the definition of gentleness and respect. Check Matthew 24!
I think this is a category error. At this point David and Vocab are not so much busy with apologetics, but polemics. I would say that satire doesn't have much place in apologetics when defending and giving a reason for the faith that is within you with gentleness and respect. In polemics, if your aim is simply to discount another worldview, sure...why not. The end aim is to have as much people as possible disregard that particular worldview. It is for that reason I wished these guys would spend more time going back to apologetics. The result would be a form of polemics merely as a means of offering and introducing the judeo-christian worldview with gentleness and respect. Sadly now it seems just focused on discouraging people from Islam without gentleness and without respect. Miss David's old content which was atleast shareable with my muslim colleagues, friends and neighbours to have a decent conversation about it... So to answer the question No, satire should not have a place in apologetics if evangelizing and saving people is the actual endgoal.
I agree with your assessment. I also believe it's not just a category error but a misinterpretation of the biblical text. They can only quote descriptive narrative. Jesus and the apostles never prescribed such practices. Rather they taught speaking the truth in love, gentleness, respect etc. The reason David Wood and others use such an approach is because it can work, not because there is a biblical basis for such.
Aaron Michael I disagree, The Lord Jesus gave some biting comments to the Pharisees and Paul did the when criticizing the the guys preaching circumcision in the churches of Galatia.
@@AllTheNations2819 Fair point. I guess shaming people for their believes could and is effective with some prideful Muslim to turn from their faith. @meerontbijtkoek Jesus didn't "preach" to the pharisees at all. He got into confrontations with them and at that point he would point out their hypocracy and debasement.
