- Basement build has been pretty slow as we're trying to get more important stuff (according to my wife) done. In this video we finally have some time to get the floors done so equipment can go on them.

From watching your previous video on gym flooring, I found that the gorilla tape and stall mat combo work great! It’s been a couple months already and it’s holding up great and looks very clean. Thanks for the advice. Looking forward to seeing your new set up with the extra space you have!
That is awesome!
From what I read elsewhere, Rouge has started vetting abnormally large quantity orders, and sending out letters/denying some of those orders unless they can prove they're a company/gym owner. I think half the problem is too many "re-sellers" are buying huge amounts of the same items and trying to re-sell third party.
I see they just started that, which I think is a good thing.
Been waiting all year for these build vids, awesome!,,
Me too :(
That's a nice big basement. I train in a bedroom. I always train at home so I didn't realize it's such a big deal. I love it. You got to stay safe so always have safety racks or a cage. Lots of used equipment out there. Got my dumbells from second hand stores. Odd times. Good Luck.
That is awesome!
Great progress videos. Enjoying these
Glad to hear it!
MLite/Infinity horizontal single bar holder fits perfectly with mounting options. Holding a curl bar in on on the tree with the smaller plates on that side.
Nice! Mine just shipped!
Just finished my retro gym renovation. Approximately 200sqft. Laminate floors with rubber mats, to look like the old gyms that had wood floors, some faux wood wall panels. Etc..etc.... because sometimes have to go back to go forward. Yours looks like a great space, good ceiling height.
Sounds great!
Looks great Brandon. I did the same thing when we moved into our new home 6 weeks ago. Except I put mending plates under the mats, used a rubber mallet, then used the 3 inch gorilla tape over the seams.
Looks great!.....thanks for the tip and congratulations on the new house.
I got a REP fitness PR 5000 V2 with the lat/low row and belt squat attachment to add some variation to my strength training.....it’s a beast
I did the same thing, mending plates and gorilla tape... belt and suspenders, why not use both..? Have that same rack and lat pull/belt squat, too. Love it!! Can’t wait for iso arms to finally drop... 👀
Dustin Schimp ....same here iso arms would be nice. At this point I just need some weight plates, only have 220lbs worth as that was all that was in stock back in June. No one has any.....anywhere
Garrett Salmon Yeah it’s rough... I thought it’d be better by now but hopefully in the next couple months things are stocked up more. 🤞
What finish on the PR5000? how do you like it so far?
Brandon Campbell Diamond Check your IG IMs-mine is stainless clear coat and it’s absolutely gorgeous... love it 💯
I am loving seeing this all come together. As a Australian millennial (I think I am anyway?) who likes living near the beach, the hope that Ill ever have a gym space this big is nearly non existent, so it’s nice to live vicariously through you haha
My brother from another mother
I used the mending plates and def wasn’t what I was expecting.. hard to nail down with teeth on the plates bending and the plates bend if u really nail them down to get the plate to hold the flooring…it should keep the floor together tho.. but now I have gaps in some spots so going to try and use the gorilla tape! Thanks!!
Good luck my dude!
The Gorilla Tape idea has been the best solution for keeping my mats together and makes it easier to clean when its time for some house keeping. Thanks! Props on the HVIII shirt! Can’t find that one anywhere.
Yeah the downside to them is that they don't do a lot of 2nd runs on stuff :(
I literally just used the same duct tape last night for my horse stall mats...it works really well. I cannot believe I found this video. It does cause a little slip when planting foot on the floor. Heavy duty 3M duct tape is a little less glossy and not as slick but the gorilla will hold up
I've used the Gorrilla tape in my garage gym for the past 4 months. Works great. Easily replaced if it gets beat up a bit. Also have the mending plates underneath. Floor is solid. Do lots of workouts from typical weight training to HIIT training. Even started some Oly lifts. So far no issues.
A few have mentioned the 3m, will have to look into it next time.
I just got in my rogue bar holder (monster lite/infinity version) and it does attach to the plate tree no problem.
Good to know!
Just got Rogue 2.0 bench & the wall hanger. I’ve been pretty lucky, you just gotta look when you get a chance. I used that tape too
Nice get!
I just got my RM4 last week, from order to delivery was 3 and a half weeks. Love working out on a regular schedule again.
That's a solid timeline!
@@BasementBrandon Yes I was thinking it would take 8 to 10 weeks before delivery. After arriving I sent them an email thanking them for the fast and ACCURATE delivery of all parts.
Great video mate.
Thanks 👍
Waiting on Rogue and Titan stock - But working out 6 days a week at home now feels great.
The one time I got the funds for a squat rack everyone goes out of stock
Check out that Rogue Stock Bot, has helped me a lot in this trying time!
See them Made in USA 🇺🇸 plates from rogue ?
@@BasementBrandon
What is that? I looked on their website and sent an email about a stock bot that a friend of mine mentioned for his home gym that he bought from a different company; but haven't gotten a reply back yet.
@@nightroad102691 Made a video on it, but doesn't work the same as it used to.
Big B, just wanted to let u know I used your pioneer code and I'll be using it for all future orders. You're the only youtuber who takes the time to reply to everyone so I definitely feel u deserve any little support we can give back.
I appreciate that, what did you end up getting?!
@@BasementBrandon my 3rd pioneer belt. Nothing speacial this time. Just wanted to see how DLs feel with a thinner, 3" belt.
I did a pioneer belt review before. I got a couple thousand views. Nothing major, but if I do another review I'll definitely mention your code. I would've never bought my 1st pioneer belt if it wasnt for the video u made.
@@David_Whitney Let me know what you think about the thinner belt. I've been wondering how that would be as well, but don't think I can justify another belt lol.
Looks Great 👍
Thanks 👍
Just realized you made it over the 200k subs barrier 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thanks Adam!
How’s the self control with this major project of yours ? I don’t know how you do it but when I’ve got a plan in mind I’m super inpatient and just want to get it done.
Spend all day working/moving/watching the boys. Doesn’t leave much time or energy 😝
Cool to see you’re going to test out the barbell holder on the plate storage rack. I ordered both, although could be a while before they get here. If it doesn’t work I’ll find another place to mount the barbell holder.
fingers crossed
I surprisingly just had my order delivered....and the barbell holder fits perfectly. My plate and barbell storage is now an all-in-one monster! And actually, I bought two barbell holders. I plan get some PVC pipe that simply extents the barbell holders for use as grab handles, transforming this thing into a poor mans sled that I can load up and push around the basement (it’s on the castor wheels).
@@Mid-Life-Chrysler awesome, got mine yesterday but haven't opened it yet!
I can confirm that the Rogue bar holder fits the Rogue weight tree. I got one last week and mounted it to store my EZ curl bar.
Spoiler alert! JK good to know!
I just got an R-3. Bought on 6/30, shipped on 7/30 received about 10 days later.
What are your thoughts so far?
If you didn't put a moisture barrier down the tape will lock in the moisture that the floor has coming up from the ground. I also think that the moisture is attracted to the concretes surface from condensation. In my opinion tape is not necessary I put down 4mil plastic down and if there is dirt in the cracks I will just use a shop vac to get it out.
Haven't had any issues a year and a half later.
I want to prep a portion of my new home basement for a gym area. This is my second new home build and there were serious shifting on the slab for the first. What would you recommend for leveling. I want to use these mats for my Inspire FT2 Functional Trainer and I'm hoping it will help.
Hmm you should have a slight grade for water run off, I've never had an issue with mine.
My basement is kind of old school and has a floor drain somewhat center. I’ve since waterproofed the basement so the floor drain doesn’t see much action but my basement isn’t completely level. Would stall mats still be a good idea for flooring?
Maybe a shimmed platform?
How do you think this holds up when rolling a loaded down plate tree around? It moves my mats now so have been debating on doing this to keep them together better
I just moved the tree, it def presses it down more where it rolls over but it didn't come up any.
Do u recommend laying them all in a line or offsetting them by laying the. Horizontal and vertical
Offsetting will make it easy for not lining up corners, but since you're taping over it will cover it anyways.
Copyright free music starts...half expected camera to pan over to a solitary black couch in front of a desk
That's on my only fans channel.
I still need to put down my gorilla tape. Thanks for the reminder!
Best time was now for me before it's covered in more crap lol
My stall mats are in the garage in Arizona, do you think the tape would hold in 100 plus degree weather?
One way to find out.
ive needed ONE more stall mat in the basement for months now. TSC said the supplier is having a hard time keeping up with the demand of them. Crazy to think!
ah they have a ton at the stores here in RI
@@BasementBrandon i was actually just able to get some here today. They got a pallet of 30 in at 7am, when i went at 4pm they had 4 left!
Do you still need the metal plates if the seams are taped? Or once taped the plates are not necessary? Thanks!
No you don't.
No fate channel checking in and that gorilla tape is legit
Thanks my dude!
Digging the low-key roast in the description 😅
Luckily she doesn't watch my videos lol
Could you use liquid flex seal around the posts?
Probably!
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for taking a look, strong username lol.
I like training at home, the gyms are not safe but I think when the virus has ran it course I will carry on training at home, I just feel more focused and find my sets are much higher quality at home versus the gym. I like that I can blast my own music and cover the floor with chalk and nobody says shit.
Right on!
Hi! We use gorilla tape on the stall flooring in our fitness room for PE classes. We are having a problem with the tape peeling up. Is it because of the volume of people going in and out? Is it because are mats are not flush to the walls that the mats are shifting? If you think that is the case, what do you think about adding rug no slip grip under the mats? Thanks for the help!
Yes more than likely. I think especially when you have people running on it, the edges will def start to come up. You can also look at mending plates under to keep the mats tight. Alan Thrall has a video on them.
Question, is it really necessary to have a wood platform? Or whats the benefit of having a wood platform, thz
I think if you're doing oly lifts where you're actually jumping slightly in some lifts it's better for energy transfer.
Love your stuff BB! Quick question. I bought a squat stand from a reputable gym company in UK (Primal Strength). But there is a decent amount of lateral wobble....wondering how much of this is inevitable and if there’s anything I can do?? Thanks a lot
Does it have a pull up bar attachment?
Brandon Campbell Diamond it does have a pull-up bar which helps kind of...
primalstrength.com/primal-strength-monster-series-commercial-folding-squat-stands/
Hmm yeah unless you wanted to bolt it, that may be tough. Could also likely do sandbags.
Thanks. Looking forward to the bigger basement reveal!
I have a ohio power bar and a sml sqaut rack. Still waiting for weights to come in stock.
lots of high rep work in the meantime!
Hi Brandon, ive just laid some flooring. Unfortunately I didnt see this video first. I've 15mm thick rogue basic floor tiles (500mmX500mm) under my rack only, as the stall mats were too thick (limited height). I've stall mats laid elsewhere and have now taped them 👍
Quick question, the tiles are not perfectly uniform and some slightly thicker than other and im Worried this would cause issues squatting. Do you think it would? If so, do you have any suggestions as to how I'd even them out? I'm not very handy but I thought maybe a wood plane or something? Or would this be more hassle than it's worth
You'll find even with stall mats some of the thickness will vary. I'd suggest trying to find the tiles that are the most consistent and put those where your feet would be while squatting!
@@BasementBrandon yeah they're glued now but their fairly level at front so I can squat there. Hard to find perfection 😉 appreciate the reply and the content . Keep it up👌
Did you ever get a chance to test Gaffers tape? if so, how did it hold up/look after awhile?
I did not as the gorilla tape is still holding strong almost 2 years later.
I was able to get everything from the rougebot. The last piece is on the way, The bench.
Fitness Assassin don’t share the secret. Otherwise, it’s no longer easy to get gear.

Don’t worry we’ll save you from your captors.
I'm doing my own capturing, why do you think i need so much tape?!
😂 lol
hi there, i have recently bought new rubber gym mats like the ones in this video,,, they are new and suppose to be non slip,, i find them slippery and cannot get a good grip on them no mattter which pair of runners i put on,, the place where i bought them from said to wash them down with soapy water and give them a good scrub because when they are packed for shipping the use some sort of oil so the mats dont stick together,, so my question is,,, i have washed and scrubbed them twice and STILL they slip,,, if anyone could help with any advice on how to make the mat non slip would be much appreciated, thanks
I find after a week they stop being so slippery (from dirt and dust probably)
Sweet shirt!
Thanks!
I have gorilla tape to hold up my banners. The humidity destroys it and it eventually comes down, and leaves residue. When it works tho it is nice
I never had an issue with humidity as much as i did cold weather, doesn't allow them to stick as well.
I'm also moving soon. When moving the mats how did you remove the old Gorilla tape? I would like to have it clean once I lay down the mats at the new place and do the Gorilla tape on the seams again.
Just pulls right off.
Thanks! Thought it would leave some residue and wasn't sure how I would clean it. Also, thanks to your video, I started using Gorilla tape on the seams and it works wonders! Love all the content!
@@SJEddie408 Right on, so personally I haven't seen issues, but I have heard some who have. The good news is if you're just moving mats, you're likely to retape in the same spots so you shouldn't see any residue even if there is some left over.
Did you ever test the gaffers tape?
I did, but prefer the gorilla, lasts longer.
For CrossFit would you go with Wide Gorilla Tape or regular? Also how many rolls would be needed for like a 400sq space?
I've always used the standard rolls which is just about 2" That's plenty of room to cover any gaps. In terms of how much, average roll is like 100ft, so prob want to buy several. The good thing is they're relatively cheap and whatever you don't use you can save for touch ups if needed, or just return to the store.
@@BasementBrandon thanks! Hoping it holds up ok for crossfit workouts
Do you go once over with the tape or more than one layer?
Just one!
Can't wait for my own. Thought I would always have to be at a gym to stay moticated and strong, but quarantine working out in a SMALLLLL garage has changed my opinion. One question. How do I make a bunch of money to buy all this cool stuff?
Do what I did, marry well. 😆
@@garyjouvelakas2475 I tell my girlfriend all the time that if she is not successful, I will leave her 💪😬👍
I don't think it's that expensive when you put it in perspective. You'll own it for years and it doesn't depreciate (like a car).
I do agree with Brandon's point of view. Actually it was Brandon's video that talks about how you can recoup the majority of the cost if you resell later unlike a gym membership that if you do not go then that money is lost. My wife and I talked about building my home gym at length and see was totally on board. Bottom line is that I'm not spending on a monthly gym membership anymore and it's great! Don't forget the time back you get from not having to commute.
Does your tape ever come up? Have had to retape once and it's been down for almost 4 months
I haven't.
Why did you decide to go without any wood under the power racks? Also, did you go without any wood under the horse stall mats too? Plywood has gone up 280% since last year, and it’s almost cheaper to have two layers of stall mats at this point, even with factoring the price increase for horse stall mats as well.
I had this in my last gym. I hated the wood so I swapped it out.
Weird question but maybe show how you hang flags/pictures to concrete wall? I always have trouble
I'll see what I can come up with.
Have used command hooks and wall ticky tack stuff. Neither are perfect (reapplication a couple times) but they hold pretty well. Never thought of gorilla tape on the walls though. Tough thing about concrete walls is the inability to hang equipment, so I've put up Lowes shelving and attached pegboard to the sides to help with small stuff at least... Plus some magnetic hooks to hang stuff directly on the rack.
What if I want to remove the tape in future? Is it possible?
Yep comes right off
Is this still working out, or did you end up having to go back and do carpet tape underneath the mats?
Nope, still holding great!
@@BasementBrandon Nice!
You get on your knees and tape like a pro
Lots of practice...
How did you cut the mats around your support beams? It doesn’t look like you have a seam?
Basically measured where the beams are, drew it in pencil on the mat, cut a hole and a seam to the edge so I could wrap it around.
@@BasementBrandon gotcha! Thanks! Yours looked seamless so I was wondering if you had done something different but that’s what I was planning on doing!
If you cut every other mat in half at the wall so the 4 corners never touch they would sit a lot nicer.
I actually suggest doing this in my gym flooring video!
I'm still dying to know how I score a custom rack name plate!! Not a "Bar Don't Lie" but my own flavor??
Did you catch the video I did on it?
@@BasementBrandon apparently not... LOL. Into the archives!!
I Use gorilla tape to cover the seams of my mats. Works awesome.
Great minds think alike.
johndim11 do you get any moisture under the mats?
Will you compete this year Brandon?
I did back in Feb, but we will see how the rest of the year goes!
Can you keep these horse stall mats outdoors ?
Yes.
This video is extra thick and extra stick!
Underused tagline.
Question for new Rogue equipment owners. Has there been an issue with Rogue's equipment arriving scratched up or banged up? Rogue is working with me to rectify my issue but they sent out new equipment to me to replace the original but it also arrived in the same condition as the original. Again, Rogue is working with me to fix the problems but it seems like improperly packaged equipment is the culprit but marry that with UPS not caring how the boxes arrive seems to exacerbate the situation. Anyone else experience this?
Yep! I bought their large DB rack (holds 15 pairs) and it was barely protected in shipment... just a little cardboard over it, and some of the metal got gouged in transit. I’m not worrying about it but between Rogue and REP, everything I’ve bought from REP has had *much* better packaging and has arrived intact.
@@dschimp that is a shame. For the premium we pay for Rogue products this should not happen. I've been hearing good things about REP lately, probably would of bought their PR-5000 V2 had that been in stock over the RM-3 I did buy. Despite the shipping issues and other quality control issues the RM-3 is still a beast of a rack.
It seems that this pandemic has greatly impacted their shipping. My guess is that their shippers aren't doing as much (especially freight) and the ones they do are not taking the same care.
@@BasementBrandon my apologies Brandon, it wasn't my intention to hijack your video with my grievances. Was just looking for more input from the home gym community. I don't disagree with your assessment but I think Rogue can do more to better protect the equipment with more padding if that's the case. In my last email to them I've even pointed it out so that current and future customers do not have this issue.
@@garyjouvelakas2475 Not hijacking at all. I think I mentioned their shipping in a recent video and some of the issues that I see people posting about :(

Have you been taking a break from training during this transition time?
I've had to :(
What about a double tape BELOW, which would do the same and look better?
I don't think it would look better as you'll still see the seams and then you'd be basically trapping debris moisture from being able to get out.
Thanks for your fast reply. You rock!
I tired the gorilla tape too but I didn’t like the look as much haha

Love ya man, but STOP buying from the BoneYard. Leave it for the rest of us. And, by the “rest of us” I mean me. Lol
Haha not much left I would buy unless they come out with a stainless DL bar!
My prediction is that Rogue and Rep plus the other gym equipment sellers would be at Pre-COVID-19 stock for another 9 months to a year, may even be longer like 2 years. No Owners from these companies are coming out with any statements to squash my prediction. This is just my opinion.
I don't know, the owners of Rep and Rogue have been pretty vocal about ramping up production and opening new facilities from what I've seen! Fingers crossed.
In a previous video you may have explained that you think it's a waste of your money to neatly finish the ceiling and walls, but I find this a very strange answer. You do put a lot of money in your weightlifting devices/gear and you try to design it by color. So it's clear that you are sensitive to design. That ugly ceiling remains a thorn in my side and I really don't understand why you don't finish it. By the way I find hanging flags rather sloppy, you can also put them on a canvas or frame them or something like that ;-)
I think it just goes to show you people's personal preference always reigns supreme!
@@BasementBrandon no ofcourse its your gym, it has been bugging me in your previous basement as well :P
Mr. Campbell showing some veins for us💦
Haven't trained in a month, wasting away.
What is your height?
6'3"
I don't know what Rogue you're using but everything I look at on that site is "out of stock" and has been for months. We're like half a year into this covid overreaction bullshit. You'd think by now fitness companies would've gotten their shit together by now and replenish and adjust (increase) their production output and stock. I mean I can't imagine it takes that long to machine a barbell and assemble it. Same with the racks. Everything is out of stock. Longest continuous weld on a rack is 3 inches..... how long does it take to assemble a rack? I am a boiler and pressure vessel fabrication inspector. Should take no more than 15 minutes to weld a 3x3 post to another 3x3 post..... and that's with a union worker. A non union dude could probably get it done in 5 minutes, haha.
It's not just Rogue either.... it's all of them. I seriously wonder how much profit the fitness equipment industry has let slip away by being woefully unprepared or capable to fulfill a high demand. I thankfully have a pretty stellar gym setup already, but I got a new job and some extra cash and was hoping in 2020 to upgrade/swap out some stuff just to keep it fresh. There is literally nothing out there. I had been eyeballing the ironmaster quicklock DBs for a couple years now and was hoping to pull the trigger this spring...... nope. They're so bad that at the end of July they had a message on their site saying they'd have their stock replenished next week and to check back then. Then when you checked back the message was "there has been a delay, please check back sometime in early August." I'm not going to visit your site every damn day multiple times a day just to get a straight answer on when you'll have your shit together. Anyways.... I checked back at the end of the first week in August..... they now had and have a message along the lines of "we have had our raffle for the new stock, if you have not received an email you were not selected. Check back sometime in mid September." Do potheads run Ironmaster? Dude..... we're not, like.... exactly sure when we'll have the shit we sell..... so like, check back - you know - whenever, bro. It's fucking ridiculous. Ironmaster is the most egregiously unprepared. But they are all sucking major asshole. I mean at least IM is leaving messages on their site on roughly, haha, when they should have some shit to sell even if they sound extremely unsure..... of when they'll receive shit.... they themselves have ordered. I don't get that. But Rogue.... they have nothing on their site. No memo - nothing. A new person to the world of lifting might go there and think the company is now defunct because they could've visited in June and saw everything was out of stock and just went back to check the site again today and absolutely NOTHING has changed.
All I can say is..... November 3rd needs to get here ASAFP. Covid will magically go the fuck away come the 4th then.
Check out the Rogue Stock bot. Stuff comes in daily, but goes out just as quick.
