It's great to see that you are addressing sustainable building practices such as solar power, certified lumber harvesting, etc. This is an area of home building that can provide new opportunities. I would love to see Golden Eagle build a home with hemp products such as Just BioFiber building blocks from Calgary Alberta Canada.

I'm glad the UA-cam algorithm suggested this one :) Even at 4,000 square feet it's far from small, especially by my European standards, but it still looks cozy and inviting. It looks like what you feel on a cold winter day, cuddled up on the couch with a blanket and a hot mug of cocoa or tea. There's something honest about working in wood.

GE Team, I love your home designs and features, from the 1,000' sf to 14,000' sf sizes. The 4,000 home is the ideal size for two people. You showcase lot of lake homes in the upper Midwest. Do you showcase river homes in interior mountain areas of NC and VA? Also, living 'off--the-grid' seems adventuresome, until the homeowner needs need a technician or skilled worker to fix something. It helps if the homeowner is an engineer. Best always, Rick (@VA)

Many people come to us while searching to fulfill this rustic dream of land . They are often frustrated because the perfect scenic property doesn't coincide with a waterfront (mountain views over water). I always solve the problem by saying, find the perfect view and the water be created, usually better than what exists. This concept makes the property search easier so you can spend more time on creating a great home like these. Out west those perfect waterfront views are most always in the national forest. Of course that is one of the rewards of camping!

Beautiful camp, but needs more outside deck facing the lake. This feels like you are always inside looking at the outside rather than flowing inside to outside. Great house as always, but they all have the same problem, the position of the TV. It’s either above the fireplace, so you have to look up to it or it’s next to the fireplace and therefore off center. If you’re sitting on the left side of the couch in this house then you won’t be able to see the full screen. This is really something that needs to be incorporated into the designs in a better way.

    - I like the layout,
    - quality of craftsmanship
I think the following can be better
    - the giant window wall could probably benefit from thinner steel beams, it would remove the thick wooden beams which kind of obstruct the great view out of those windows
    - the kitchen looks tiny, with little natural light for such a big house.
    - there could be more open floor design, some of the connections feel a it claustrophobic
    - the wood panels are too yellow, I think lighter, more neutral tone would have been better
    - maybe white wall with light wood accents instead, otherwise it feels too overwhelming, it would also blend electrical outlets and light switches a bit better.

TV next to fireplace would interfere with the clarity of the screen, wrong wall. 2. 15 Amp outlets on 20 Amp circuits? A toaster oven and coffee maker on same circuit is overloaded. 20 Amp outlet passes 2400 volts. 15 Amp outlet pass 1800 volts which "starve your appliances and burn them out quicker. They should even manufacture 15 Amp outlets! 15 Amp outlet should not be manufactured.

Compared to other features homes is is on the smaller end, but it is a very normal size kitchen for most of our client homes.

get rid of the fake ceiling structure. Nice job with the mechanical stuff. I liked the design elements. well done overall. I wonder the cost.
I am left with the impression, unfortunately, that even though the workmanship appears well done the whole thing feels fake. a satin finish on the wood may not have shown off the texture as much but it would have been a bit classier. I don't get a warm feeling from this house. It feels like someone is trying too hard to impress.

This home is cosy and gorgeous, however two big turnoffs such homes possess are: Sorry for being so morbid, but they are much more fire friendly than your average home, and people enthusiastically walking or passionately making love above you are going to be heard loudly and clearly. Nevertheless, this is a gorgeous masterpiece, and kudos to all the people who created it

Thanks for your comments on its beauty! Actually, they are not more fire friendly than an average home. Consider this... large logs take longer to catch fire than kindling wood. The average home is full of (essentially) kindling wood and drywall, which is much more flammable.

This is the only way worth to buy a house, off grid. I wouldn't wan t anything from the government, no electricity, no water. But this specific house have a flaw, it has too much glass, if a storm happens in the woods all the windows would be destroyed.

You guys make great homes, no doubt...seen many of your videos....however,...your battery and inverter set up SUCKS. I'm off grid, and I can say that you are setting up your inexperienced customers for failure in the first year or two with that system and the expectations you set them up for....imho.

I'm sorry, 'off-grid CABIN tour!' Like WTF 'cabin' has a mechanical room?
The average sq. ft of a UK home is 818sq. ft, this is a 4,000sq. ft CABIN.
    It's not a cabin, it's a large home or mini-mansion.

Unless they are muddy and soaking wet,.....I would say leave them on. I do not want stinky feet and/or socks walking on my carpet/floors. (Don't know what foot disease they may have, or white foot powder tracking all over the place.) Also, as a person visiting, it would be a safety thing to have shoes on. You never know when you may step on something sharp. Maybe somebody broke some glass or lightbulb, and did not fully get it cleaned up. Ever step on a Lego, without having your shoes on??? Also, it helps to keep your feet warm. And lastly, if you have your shoes on, you are ready to respond to an emergency. If someone told me to take my shoes off, and they were clean, I would say No Thank You, and See Ya Later.

those few solar panels are not running that home, period. the size and waste of space is not "sustainable" or considerably a "cabin" either. millionaires claiming to be off grid, saving the planet is insulting to those actually living off grid, mortgage free with a small budget. nice home for a millionaire, not me.

    • @goldeneagleloghomes
      @goldeneagleloghomes  9 місяців тому

The homeowners are not there over the winter. Over the last two years, from the middle of April to the middle of September, the generator has run one time. If they were there the full year then the panels would not keep up and the generator would need to run every three days (approximately). The backup generator runs on propane.

that's a massive battery bank charged when they arrive, but 2,000 watts solar panels is likely struggling to charge those batteries. I'd double the solar panels, why not? got $??
