How to regenerate DPf ( Diesel particulate filter ) in New Toyota Innova Crysta BS6 & Fortuner BS6

- Hey Everyone,
In this video you can clear all your doubts regarding the Diesel Particulate filter or DPF in all New Innova Crysta & Fortuner.
DPF system Functioning:
The below are the two Warning which will come on car when DPF system regeneration is required:
1. DPF system full visit your dealer.
2. DPF system Full Manual regeneration required.
The below process needs to be done.
A) In condition 1 don't drive vehicle for long time visit Toyota dealership.
Following precautions needs to be taken:
1. Do not do the regeneration in close parking/ area with dry grass/ or some person is near the car.
2. Do not panic if white smoke comes/ A smell can also be felt.
3. Idle speed may raise automatically. ( All these are not malfunction)
B) In condition 2 following measures needs to be taken:
1. Stop the vehicle do not switch off the engine.
2. Shift to P in Automatic Car and N in Manual car.
3. Pull the parking brake.
4. Check the surrounding and ensure there is no flamable material around.
5. Engine should be warm up if not depress accelerator pedal for warmup ( however this will be needed only in extreme cold conditions)
6. Press the DPF switch automatically the engine Idling speed will increase when display will show a message that " Manual Regeneration in process"
7. Regeneration will take 30-40 minutes.
8. When Regeneration will be finished the Idling speed will become normal.
9. Regeneration system may not work at a height of 4000 M or 13000 sqft above the sea level.
10. If needed in some situation the Accelerator needs to be depressed by the driver until the RPM reached 3000 RPM.
11. If Coolant or Exhaust temperature is low the regeneration may take long time.
13. After Regeneration is finished race the accelerator several time so that the exhaust system gets cleaned.
14. In Innova Crysta post November 2020 and Fortuner from January 2021 you will be getting a bars between 1-10 on the MID. The below is the reading of the same:
a) 1-3 is normal.
b) 4-6 The DPF will generate automatically.
c) 7-9 Manual regeneration message will pop up on the MID.
d) 10 You have to visit Toyota Dealership to get the DPF clean.

How to make sure dpf filter is clean in innova crysta of August, 2020 as no bars are displayed in MID and nothing happens when i press dpf clean button.
Hey you can just drive it nothing to worry.
Just keep in mind if you see BARs in yellow range pls park the vehicle in that case. Keep it on neutral in open space and than press the button. System will take 25-30 mins and DPF will be cleaned automatically.

Dpf process happens in three types as below:
1. Auto regeneration
2. Manual regeneration
3. Regeneration at workshop.
In 1. auto regeneration vehicle can be driven, you will find it happening automatically and nothing to worry you can drive the vehicle. The rpm will go up but that is normal.
In other 2 scenario car has to be stopped on parking or neutral and the process can be done .

Hi Nadeem , I faced this issues , After correction by local Toyota dealer , Two time automatic DPF process carried out successfully... So it is okey now ? What will be happen , When you switch off the engine , While DPF process is going on automatically by mistakenly?
Yes its ok and if u want to get down when auto regeneration is happening you can get down in that case nothing to worry

If there is just the sign and no Message in this case you have to do nothing.
If the system says manual regeneration : In this case park the car in neutral and press the DPF switch on the dashboard opposite to Drivers Left Knee ( Left Hand Drive or Right Knee Right hand drive car)
Withing 30 mins the system will clean it self.
And if the message says visit the dealer in this case pls go to workshop.

I own a 2020 crysta.. I get no info display in the MID when I press the button.
My innova bs6 during utomatic regeneration I have to stop the vehicle there and then only because if I continue to drive the dpf becomes full.. it's the opposite of what the manual instructed.
Check the level.of dpf full and follow the message. If it is manual you can do it or else you can visit the service.
Innova crysta march 2022 model, I had also got message DPF Full visit dealer, so next day i was going towards dealer which is 15 km, while going i faced pickup problem, not picking up speed , after driving 500 mtr one more additional message battery charging issue displayed. Vehicle was getting started but was not moving forward.
For 2020 BS6 G model MID doest show any DPF warning and bars. So how we will know if its time for manual regen(its not shown in display)
I got dpf full visit dealer message 6 times

I will like to say that there is absolutely no issues in pickup because of DPF.
Please drive it and experience the same.
Petrol and diesel is upto your running. claimied mileage for Petrol is 10 and Diesel is 15 so as per your running in Kms you can choose.
If its more I will suggest diesel if mileage is not an issue go with petrol

Question about diesel
Is it ok to fill diesel from any pump? Or how to know when punp has bsvi diesel? Though suggestion is to use normal diesel from shell but its not always possible. Please guide
Sajjad bhai you can fill diesel from any pump. If possible just check whether BS6 diesel is available or not.
Even if it is not available Nothing to panic it will just consume more adbblue.
But try to get BS6 only so that adblue lasts longer.
Also get it from a reputed pump as many places adulterated fuel is also available

Yes it will happen in manual also. But you can clean it only when it pops up to do it manually

Nai wo koi problem nai hai.
Filter apne aap se clean hota hai ek level tak. Jab level full hojata to fir vehicle manual regeneration ya dealership visit ka msg degi. It is absolutely normal.

Hey thats a very good question.
But the DPf clot depends on the fuel quality, running etc.
What I have seen is in some cases it comes to manual regeneration at 2000 kms also and in many cases it has not come till 6000 kms also.
Just see the msg on the MID and follow the instructions.

Diesel Particulate filter or DPF stops the harmful gas from going in the environment. In the process of stopping the dpf gets clot with sooth, dust, carbon etc which needs to be cleaned. Hence the light comes again and again
