Man what an exciting moment just being in that element and around music again. Im so glad brother mike was saying the same things i was saying to my son (who is also a JSU/GAMB trumpet band member) that the hangovers were the death of their sound!! I wish these elements will be resolved before Memphis mass band gets here in a few weeks. The gym acoustics gives so much reverberation that you cant truly hear the balance with a group that size because of the volume. When they did the chorale/warmup, you can tell the difference in sound element and the balance was clear because they can hear and listen to each other.
This is just the beginning guys and my good friend Alvin who leads the trumpet section, will get my opinions this week on where i am with the section. (I know who the culprits are as well hanging over!!!) Im excited about the group as well as the mass band season, and GA still will represent GOAT status til somebody knocks them off!!! LETS GOOOO!!!!❤❤❤❤🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺 Trumpets still rule the world... Yes!!

@@pointblank5750 fyi... In being in music for 43 years, I'm highly critical of every band I come across when there's an element of musical distortion. Plenty of judgement to go around.
Trumpets were no where near awful I don’t agree with tht and this is just 12 days in give it another week y’all have to remember gamb never reveals alllll there songs at the meet. But ll let that play out next week. Just know gamb is coming. Btw it’s in a gym where the sound still sound different even on camera see y’all at the stadium 💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾

Like I had said under Showtime post. Y'all gotta give it time, Folks got time to clean up stuff before the battle and it's really best to see it in person to get the true sound. And I'm talking about in general because Memphis was also in a gym as well & they both sounded good.

Umm, as a trumpet 🎺 player… the trumpets sound outstanding . These throwaway songs were written to highlight pretty much every section… and it did just that. The entire band has a cohesive sound for sure.
Literally all trumpet sections in Mass Bands hangover so that comment is confusing
They didn’t sound great doing it was my problem. Not the hangover. If you gon do it impress me with it.
Facts… all the trumpets hang over, it’s use a matter of preference- but I don’t think GAMB sound bad at all.
Peace and blessings my brother thanks for the video I can't take nothing from them but the lower brass is overpowering the trumpets so the trumpet sound paper thin also the trumpets hanging over is killing me but overall they did a good job when it comes to the home team N.O all we need to do is sound like one and have some nice arrangements that's what's going to win the battle size doesn't matter when everyone is playing on one accord It will be just like when David slayed Goliath

I don’t think a lot of y’all know physically how band works….y’all talking bout trumpets need help, they’re Playing against 60 bones and 30 baritones. You’d need 100 trumpets to compete with those lowers.
In the video did I not say that they have a lot of band to fight through ? I understand that trying to fight through that type of band isn’t an easy task.

Lol.. People got angry when i said;1- That Gamb is much bigger. but they sound like they're trying to use their size to compensate for something that's missing. 2- That Yes, they are bigger, but their arrangements are mediocre and they had a much better band last year.. a few people got pissed when i said, Ok i'll be the 1st 1 to say it. So, everyone that got angry at my comment, asked them this. If GAMB 2022 was to go against this new Bigger Gamb 2023. Which band do you think would take the win.. NOT 1 of them answered that question. lol, I also said they should trim some of the fat off that band this year because even though they're loud, they don't sound like they have as many people as they have. But overall, the impression i got from this band is they're big and loud not much else. They don't have what they had last year. I think deep down, even they know this, which is why i believe they're trying to use a massive size to compensate for what they're lacking.

They have like 40 tubas. when i 1st saw them with such a massive band, i was DAAAYYUMM. But when i heard them play i was like, meh... They're big and loud but i'm not getting anything else from them. Or better yet. They're not what i expect based on what i heard from them last year. The critics said. That's only because i haven't heard this and that other song and other exceuses, but i told them i could only judge what i hear. i can't judge on possibilities of other songs they chose not to play or whatever. People are all in their feelings and think it's hate when you're not impressed with this band. but they don't understand and consider, People are judging and comparing this band to their last year's band and i'm sorry but, even though this band is bigger, they're lacking in song and arrangement. it's mediocre compared to they're band last year. A bigger size does not automatically make them better. But, maybe i also need to hear them outside because they're not what i was expecting, especially seeing how swole they are
You haven’t heard anything new so how can you judge the band based of a showcase of the “possible”. I’m just telling you people slept last year the exact same way. It’s ok though completely understandable everyone would come to that conclusion.
