All the shit Daniel has been through, he hasn't given up. He is so AMAZING!!! I support him whole-heartedly in everything he does. I'd take away his pain if I could.
daniel is a musical genius not to mention his great personality and sense of humor. Thanks for posting this! and if silverchair see this comment i would like to say you're the best band in the world and I've always liked your music, its changed and matured but equally as good
overconfidence and over-insecurities. thats so exactly right. i think a lot of his comfort comes from finally understanding who he is a little better. i love what he said about writing across the night too. he's so special and so is his music.
He's so incredible, I wish I could repay him for all his music has done for me; he changed my life, oceans apart! . . ."it's the best thing in the whole world."
"I love Life, it's the best thing in the whole worl!" And then the look and the laugh he made, lol :D He is such a humorous and charismatic person, this was suppossed to be somewhat true, but overxaggeratedly true and somewhat sarcastic and ironic.
I think he's generally a shy person. I would be nervous and fidgety too if I was on TV being interviewed about my personal life! But he's brave by doing it. Love this man.
OMG, he's so funny, he has such a great personality! :) And I can totally relate to his anorxia and all the thinking that's directly or indirectly related to that kind of mindset...
Wow he's changed so much. I'm so glad he's overcome his personal demons and is enjoying life now. I was really surprised with some of the things he said... like how he hated music when he wrote neon ballroom... that was shocking. He's amazing. Natalie Imbruglia is a very lucky woman!!
exactly. I love men who are in touch w/their feminine side. It tells me that they're secure in their sexuality and themselves. Alpha males are terribly unattractive to me and likely to be closet homosexuals.
thanks for posting this vdo! haven't seen any of his stuff since diorama but it's so good to see how happy and healthy he is. not to mention handsome lol
He was sooo sososo sweet and cute here.. I love his attitude. I know this man is still somewhere in there, he's just a bit wierd right now.. I miss this Daniel
Ive always wondered how the band would be today if the 3 of them were able to take a few years off when they were high schoolers and were able to hold on to the normal things kids do. That was such a huge thought of Daniel's...."What would it be like if the future never happened.
It was an amazing interview which shed light on the all that glitters isn’t gold theory. These boys were just kids barely out of school yet travelling the world and being world famous but All the while Daniel was feeling tormented by his inner demons
I hope I can get over reiter's syndrome or 'arthritis' as they refer to it. I'm his age and always been his fan, which seems ironic; that I would first suffer from panic disorder, etc and now reiter's. Bless you all..!
I talk like that. I'm a blabber mouth lol. That's what I love about him. Just pour it all out. Your fans are here to listen to it all. There are people who truly care about you, babe.
Thats true... bear in mind this is an old interview. He was coming out of being anoxeric, and off anti depressants, which he happend to get addicted to. It not like he was break rocks of crack in nose.! That said he looks super healthy now.. check out more recent interviews. Health issues aside...this guy is a fantastic musician!
I am a fan of anything pre-Diorama. my taste is the same, their music is drastically different from when they rocked. by the way, you're on Tube responding to all my posts.
Ok I won't question your knowing the band but if theyhave sucked since Imbruglia came on the scene, why u still a fan and why the hell do you go around youtube dissing their music. If anything, your tastes of have just changed.
The dissociates music is good but not compared to the brilliance that was diorama, Daniel didn't need to collaborate with anyone, especially not someone 15 years older than him.. Daniel was still so young and so cool and diorama was the right direction for him .. he should have been left as an individual and not married Natalie imbruglia.. stay single and an individual and develop on your own terms
Kristen9632 probably because he didn't have to chance to grow into himself as an individual .. I mean I got no facts or answers but as a young person I feel he never got a chance to discover who he was and maintain his individuality .. he's said in interviews himself he doesn't know who he is, probably because he never got to be himself.. as he seems happy??? I dunno, he doesn't really seem like the Daniel johns I saw at BDO 2002 or before that
I don't remember sayibg I did not know where was his accent from...errrrrr...and as I see it you might be an australian, so you would not be the fitting one to sat that your accent is not hard to understand, it might be easy to undersand it for you, coz you were born there...but anyway what i'm saying is that HE has a bad way of expressing, I mean...pronuncing the words...
we do not need to be any genious to notice that his pronunciation is horrible in comparison to that of the interviwer! you know what I mean? Just like a young one trying to be the "cool" one...errr. Like him though
sucky music does not equal "growth" my man. I've logged 18 hours of drive time, just to see SChair, so dont question me knowing the band. the music has sucked since Imbruglia came on the scene.
Nah, its just been directionally, intentionally, and artistically different. Just because it doesn't fit in your box of rock music and your taste doesn't mean it sucks. But that also doesn't mean your taste suck as well. Its just different than what you prefer and thats okay. I mean he's an artist through and through, and the way he was writing and the affects of the Silverchair machine was not good for his health. Honestly, people like Paul Mac and Imbruglia saved him. He would of been another dead 27 yr old artist, gone too soon.
"I didn't write that song--I was just 'there.'"
That statement changed my life fo' reeeall. My hero.
denton is an amazing interviewer - i think because he actually cares about his subject, he's genuinely curious and concerned.
That's my favorite Daniel interview so far!
All the shit Daniel has been through, he hasn't given up. He is so AMAZING!!! I support him whole-heartedly in everything he does. I'd take away his pain if I could.
Dude i cant even talk to anyone about anything and here he is pouring his heart out how the hell does he have such courage and power
For a man that hated music during Neon Ballroom, he wrote some GENIUS lyrics and music!!!!
daniel is a musical genius not to mention his great personality and sense of humor. Thanks for posting this!
and if silverchair see this comment i would like to say you're the best band in the world and I've always liked your music, its changed and matured but equally as good

Sensitive artists (my self included)! His bravery of explaining his vulnerabilities makes me feel so much better about being the same way.
Such a beautiful person inside and out. Xoxo
This guy and John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are my life inspirations.
After all these years that song hits hard with this interview!
"I love Life, it's the best thing in the whole worl!" And then the look and the laugh he made, lol :D He is such a humorous and charismatic person, this was suppossed to be somewhat true, but overxaggeratedly true and somewhat sarcastic and ironic.
many ppl blame natalie for changing his music style, but i got strong feeling that she was the reason he got better
I think he's generally a shy person. I would be nervous and fidgety too if I was on TV being interviewed about my personal life! But he's brave by doing it. Love this man.
OMG, he's so funny, he has such a great personality! :) And I can totally relate to his anorxia and all the thinking that's directly or indirectly related to that kind of mindset...
i suffer from depression and daniel really helps me to see he is in a better place now thanks uploader
Andrew Denton has got to be one of the best interviewers ever.
Wow he's changed so much. I'm so glad he's overcome his personal demons and is enjoying life now. I was really surprised with some of the things he said... like how he hated music when he wrote neon ballroom... that was shocking. He's amazing. Natalie Imbruglia is a very lucky woman!!

A very insightful interview, thanks heaps for posting!
The Dissociatives music is really brilliant, you just need to LISTEN to it.
Beautiful interview
that makes me sad that he hated music when he made neon ballroom... i love it
thanks for posting this vdo! haven't seen any of his stuff since diorama but it's so good to see how happy and healthy he is. not to mention handsome lol
he is amazing.
You can tell dan is still shy with interviews, not as bad as it used to be. Hes just genius...plain and definitely not simple
I agree, that interview on Rove cracked me up ;) Great performance on that one too.
This is amazing. He reminds me of me.
amazing.
Oh I love him.
He was sooo sososo sweet and cute here.. I love his attitude. I know this man is still somewhere in there, he's just a bit wierd right now.. I miss this Daniel

oh i love him so much
how bizarre would it be to be interviewed about such personal things in front of an audience. He is brave and beautiful.
It was an amazing interview which shed light on the all that glitters isn’t gold theory. These boys were just kids barely out of school yet travelling the world and being world famous but All the while Daniel was feeling tormented by his inner demons
Wow! He hated music when he wrote neon ballroom... I wonder what would've came out if he was liking music...
This guy is a genius...
yeah he is still the singer of Silverchair
I hope I can get over reiter's syndrome or 'arthritis' as they refer to it. I'm his age and always been his fan, which seems ironic; that I would first suffer from panic disorder, etc and now reiter's. Bless you all..!
...just wanted to leave my trace here, it's deffinitely worth it...!
I LOVE LIFE, IT'S THE BEST THING IN THE WHOLE WORLD
@livleloon thats a really nice thing to hear, keep fighting strong...i bet dan would be proud :)
can you please upload a better quality video? :) But thanks for uploading this one ;)
trippy sounds
I talk like that. I'm a blabber mouth lol. That's what I love about him. Just pour it all out. Your fans are here to listen to it all. There are people who truly care about you, babe.
what a poor guy.
music industry pressure almost killed him, pretty misarebla period,, i hope he is better
@livleloon no worries :) xx
If I had the original files I would...so I guess this will have to do.
wow strong words...u came to that conclusion how now?
Dude u obviously don't respece the chair cuz they have grown so much since the Frogstomp days!
Ok parts 1 and 2 are now up so go watch! ^.^
is this in 2003, 2004 or 2005
@avlinebacker33 ya silvechair n the Dissociatives
different fro many australlians i know. !that's my opinion, that might have no importance to the rest of the world.but i do not care. Luv you Daniel
maybe, considering australian a kind of leaguange
i feel bad that he has to keep talking about the anorexia... it'd be hard to talk about
everything but what I said! errrrrrr...
Thats true... bear in mind this is an old interview. He was coming out of being anoxeric, and off anti depressants, which he happend to get addicted to. It not like he was break rocks of crack in nose.!

yeah...coz y know...some just deserve something even worse than that! errrrrr
@Danimal77 yes but i want the grundge Daniel Johns
Ok I won't question your knowing the band but if theyhave sucked since Imbruglia came on the scene, why u still a fan and why the hell do you go around youtube dissing their music. If anything, your tastes of have just changed.

John Frusciante he seems happy though and he was married here...now hes on a spiral downward and acting bizarre.
@pooisgood123 What's wrong with you? You're crazy. When did I say something to you? Never. What bothers you then, dear?
grow back hair please!!!
The other band music....just going toward that Beatles sound. Not a huge fan
we do not need to be any genious to notice that his pronunciation is horrible in comparison to that of the interviwer! you know what I mean? Just like a young one trying to be the "cool" one...errr. Like him though
his accent iso so wierd...not so clear

its so beautiful the anonymity his former wife gave him, seemed it was a gift he really needed
