American Airlines B737-800 First Class - Chicago to Charlotte

- My last trip in 2020 continues with a flight down to Charlotte, North Carolina from Chicago aboard an American Airlines B737-800 in First Class. While the crew was friendly on this flight, it was the service and hard product onboard that lacked. The majority of AA's 737s now are equipped with their Oasis interior which further slims down seats, adds more seats, and takes away personal entertainment screens at every seat. Obviously, this is to make more money with very little consideration for the passenger. To combat some of the worst features American implemented in First Class, they did do a few minor updates recently dubbing the new interior Kodiak. Unfortunately, this one still had the original Oasis and it's just not good. Soft product, or service also was terrible on this flight without even a drink service offered. To get a Coke I had to ring the call button. Ugghh...American...Hope you guys enjoy the vid!

I fly American Airlines too often and cabin crew being lazy is the rule. Even prior to the virus
I flew AA in first several months ago. My wife mentioned it was our first vacation in almost 4 years. Darn if the F/A didn't sneak us a bottle of wine.
I always like just using my phone for their inflight entertainment. They have good movies too 😂
I was able to not have AA's Oasis Cabin, having an ex-US Airways A320 on my CLT-PIT leg of my MYR-PIT trip (visiting West Virginia University and the Morgantown area) and I think that that is 100% better than Oasis. Granted, it was a last minute decision as Spirit had canceled my flight up to PIT from MYR. One good thing about that was I was able to spot the America West livery A319 (N838AW) during my layover between my MYR and PIT flights. I was also able to spot an AA 777 (N786AN) that was going to HNL that day.
Fully agree, the oasis cabin was a terrible downgrade. I live in Chicago so luckily I can choose United over American, United seems to be heading in the right direction with their revamped cabin
@@christopherjohnson5145 exactly. I live in between myrtle and Raleigh so I fly anything (flown Delta, United, and Frontier out of RDU and American and Spirit out of MYR)
Well this was 2020. So hopefully service has improved. I live in Charlotte didn’t see much !

Well, at least you didn't have a fight break out on your flight.
The 737 and the A320 family are workhorses for most airlines.
You know what else isn't as well padded as they used to be?
Car seats. A car seat in a new car has less padding and springs as seats in the 1970s.
I feel like most back seats today are as uncomfortable as a wooden church pew with no seat cushion.
It's about weight, whether it's a 737 or a Chevy Equinox.

I flew on JetBlue ric-fll in November 2021 and they offered multiple drink services within the 2 hour trip. I was in economy

What no flight service in first class. Shameful……Fly Delta First Class. I flew from Orlando to Atlanta first class, on a 757. Service on the ground and in the air. Delta is my go to. ❤

You could not pay me to jump on a Max 8 ……I don’t care if Boeing claims they ironed out the problems with this plane. Nope.
One thing that i don't get it is why 737 have sky interior bins and ceiling but the wall panels are still the old NG ones (with the square-ish windows). That feels kinda odd tbh.

American’s Charlotte hub is much better than their Chicago O’Hare hub.
Sometimes american operates 777s from charlotte to miami, or charlotte to Dallas-fort worth

Thanks for the video. American used to be one of the best airlines, but now it is all about butts in seats and to heck with the passengers. Delta stayed with the PTV's and United is bringing them back which is good. Granted I do not fly that much anymore like I did while I was in the military but it would be nice to be treated decently and have some sort of service while in the air instead of being hearded on like cattle. If and when I do ever fly again (I need to get an enhanced drivers licence first) I will avoid American Airlines.

Several years ago, two ESPN anchors were discussing seatback entertainment. One had just flown to Chicago and sat next to a UA vice president.
Studies were showing that in the age of the laptop, tablet, and smartphone, many passengers were not using seatback video systems or even armrest audio.
This was back when Netflix was the only streaming service, and SiriusXM had not released their app.
Frankly, as long as you can get WiFi for free or a reasonable price, who needs IFE.
And, there are these things called books, newspapers, and magazines. On a flight from ORD to DFW, I read the Chicago Tribune, the WSJ, and a couple of chapters of a book on Revolutionary War spies.

Fantastic video as always! I find it interesting that on a flight of a similar length from Cincinnati to Tampa on a Delta 737-800 in March 2021, I got more service in economy then you did on this flight.

Whenever I decide to try first class for the FIRST time, it will probably be on Delta Airlines! Also, hopefully, in-flight service will get better this year--closer to pre-Covid.... 🙂
These days domestic first class is really only a good deal when you get it due to a free milage and or points upgrade. Otherwise Its not worth money out of pocket.

Cool video...until you started talking. Echoing what others have said, you don't have a radio announcer's voice. These new videos are lousy. Not saying you need to go back to the old style, but you do have a ways to go before your vids have that polished sound to them.
