That's a really tough question. Scream for Me, Swan Song (live with piano) and this one are all contenders.
Unbroken is another favourite of mine, but I rarely see others mention it, so not recommending it for a reaction. Also Golden Destination - they came to my home city, but before I knew about them!

"Journey To The Other Side" live. Very emotional song, Miho wrote this shortly after her father passed away at the age of 49, he was a paramedic. Great lyrics, another masterpiece.

The drummer, Haruna, is around 4'9". Given her height and how she plays, she is often called "The Pocket Nuke."
My favorite song of theirs is "Thunder Vengeance." Very thrashy, which is where my heart lies.
She also plays with a large kit, so it has to be customised to allow her to reach everything.

(Lots of links follow) Congratulations on discovering Lovebites! Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics.
They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.
This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. I am not embarrassed to say they are as good if not better than most of the metal legends I know such as Maiden, Slayer (listen to Break the Wall live), DragonForce, etc etc.
Life band is IRON MAIDEN and I agree, the torch has been passed and it's in good hands going forward.
@@waterwalker9600 Too many who have held on to bands for so long are so reluctant to pass the torch and at times take offense to saying such things. I've been listening to metal for over 50 years, so I feel for me to say Lovebites is now my favorite band says a lot. 1971 - The Immigrant Song by Zeppelin was my introduction to metal. Have never looked back. Truth is I've only had two bands prior to Lovebites that I've called my favorite in 50 years, and that is Led Zeppelin since 1971 and Opeth in the mid 2000's took over my #1 spot. Takes nothing away from Exodus, Slayer, and the plethora of metal I've listened to.

Shadowmaker - absolute face melter, the harmonized solo sound...you will not hear a better sound, imho, lastly, for some reason they all look absolutely stunning in this video (look great in all their songs) but they really come out in this one for some reason, to me anyways...can't explain it.

The Crusade - an absolute banger that's an ode to Iron Maiden's Aces High song
Nameless Warrior - a video that is somewhat a chronology of them as a band, very cool to watch, also the last video Miho (bassist) is in :-(
Rising - Just a good power metal song with a sweet solo piece, cool video shot on cliffs overlooking the ocean
Winds of Transylvania (VLADLOVE version) - opening to anime show, as I previously stated, 5mins of insane guitar play and squeals...almost like they were told "you've got 5mins to do whatever the F you want" and Midori and Miyako just go off. lol
Don't Bite the Dust - their first music video(?), cool to see how young they looked

You asked, lol. Everyone has THEIR band, LB is that band for me. I listen to them everyday and could do it for hours on end. They never get old, it's their sound and flawless display of musicianship that does it for me. Can't explain it nor would I expect anyone to understand, we all have our favorites. IMHO, they are the pinnacle of modern day metal and it's not even close.

My only disagreement would be re. Wacken 2018. It's decent mixing but the crowd response is what makes it special--it was their first big festival and few people knew who they were. They converted a lot of fans that day and immediately thereafter, Metal Hammer named them "Best New Metal Band" of 2018.

So MUCH appreciate you NOT comparing LoveBites to other old bands. I've listened to plenty of metal over 60 years and just don't see where they sound like something I've heard in the past. They have too much talent and style to be compared to someone else. It seems in everyone of their songs all of their talent and personalities shine. You can't go wrong with 90% of any of their songs they've done in the past 3-4 years. This is what you get when you combine a blues singing ballerina, concert pianist, experienced metal thrashing/perfect bassist, nuclear powered drummer that is SO passionate about sounding perfect and a guitarist that can put ANY other lead guitarist to shame(maybe not HAL-CO)...... Almost every Lovebites' song is really fast and the drummer Haruna deal with it... and for two hours of the concerts... Every their song is different and amazing and has instrumental feast.
You should try "Set the world on fire" - it is more heavy or "Swan song with Shopin intro" - it is more melodic. You will be impressed.

You really need to check out Chopin Etude+Swan song and Empty Daydream if you really want to be blown away. Great piano work by Miyako. So much talent!
So you’ve found Band-Maid and LOVEBITES but it doesn’t end there. Today’s darlings are Nemophila - everything you get from LOVEBITES with metal vocals… the loose and fluffy sounds of hell.

Very, very hard to pick a favorite but, at least today, I would have to say Swan Song. The video of Swan Song is from the same concert as Holy War. The song was written and arranged by Miyako (guitarist on stage left). Miyako has written and arranged 20 Lovebites songs and she is the only band member that writes and arranges her songs without an outside collaborator. She did, however, cowrite a song with Miho, the bassist, called Break the Wall which is another great Lovebites song. As others have said, make sure you watch the Swan Song video that includes a Chopin piano intro.

i really love the way you deconstruct the song on many different layers, would love to see your reaction and review of Unlucky Morpheus - Angreifer live version, it's pretty complex song, a lot to say there, like good utilizing both 6/4 straight time together with 6/8 half time together and stuff like that, really good one in terms of composition

I love musicians reacting to musician. Others just say's Wow! I liked it and ends :) Theirs many more Japanese bands you should check out for sure.
All of Lovebites' songs are of a different dimension, but the ones I would like to recommend are the live versions of "Frozen serenade" and "Winds of Transylvania".
And the bands that I definitely want you to listen to in Japanese bands are "Galneryus" and "Unlucky Morpheus".

Songs LOVEBITES are a lot of diamonds of the same color, the same size. Which one is your favorite? I find it difficult to answer. I would name at least 30-40 songs. And this is not an exaggeration!🐺
Love the reaction dude! I like their heavy stuff as well similar to Holy War. Try the live official mv for the songs Set the World on Fire and their song Break the Wall, also live official mv. Both of these songs have a Slayer, Metallica, 80's metal vibe, but of course performed exceptionally clean, and the solo's on both songs are epic as always!! These ladies are masters of their craft, and from what I have read very nice, kind respectful women as well.

Lovebites are an incomparable Metal band. I just know them since about 2 _months_ , but I already listened to all of their (60+) songs, and I am still not sure, whether Lovebites is just a very realistic dream or actually true. In my opinion, Lovebites is the best that could possibly happen to Metal _since decades_ . The last time, when I had this feeling, that was because of Iron Maiden, at the beginning of the "Maiden mania" in the 1980's. Now I feel the same, without working in the music industry.
In terms of music, lyrics, stage presence, live show vibe and the personal background/hisroty of their members, everything is ready for take-off. I anticipate, that in a few years they will headline (or even fill) stadiums worldwide.
Gotta love Haruna that 4 foot 10 ,700 pound beast destroying the drum kit.

LOVEBITES Eagle Fly Free Helloween cover Awake Again Live from Abyss 1080p u should do, its amazing. Anniversery they played their first album from start to finish and recorded for a special dvd, which lets say isnt cheap to get hold of , but on top of that they chose a few favourite songs. Drummer chose Helloweens eagly fly free.
Other drummers use metronomes...metronomes use Haruna.

@@DrumRollTonyReacts You have a Great channel ! I've seen comments asking why Haruna doesn't have drum solos...as a drummer myself, she astounds me. Her style is so busy that the whole song is really a solo. In all of their live performances I've heard only two three missed notes on the guitar work, which is amazing...but I have never heard Haruna miss a beat...not even hit a rim. She is phenomenal.

I'm an old rocker of 64yo. Grew up with all the big bands from the early 70's. Lost interest in the music scene over the last decade or so, & then along comes bands like Lovebites, Bandmaid, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheous, etc, to re invigorate my musical mind.

Midori (blonde) and Miyako should be considered among the best guitar duos ever. They do these incredible, mind-blowing solos and duos in every single one of the almost 50 Lovebites' songs. You'll see as you do more of their live videos. This entire band is super tight and amazing together. Individually they are sensational, but together as a whole they are phenomenal. first contact reactions from somebody, who knows what he´s talking about, are the best. thank you, tony! and yes, drummer haruna is fantastic. they all are. the lovebites rabbit hole is deep. and their compositioning is so good, in their backcatalogue of around fifty songs is no bad, stale or mediocre song.I would suggest "set the world on fire" tokyo 2021 (premium thrash), "swan song ( with chopin intro )" tokyo 2020 and "egde of the world" tokyo 2020 next.

what an excellent and amazing reaction to Lovebites, hope to see you do more sooner than later. There are many good female guitarists in Japan and other Asian countries but there are only a few that are elites, 3 are from Japan Miyako and Midori of Lovebites, Hal-Ca of Asterism, then we go to South Korea for Jung Na Young of The Fix, then Indonesia with Ayu Gusfanz. That is all I need to listen to as they are freaking amazing and phenomenal. Yeah, there are many ok bands some of those I can't stand, then there are those everyone ignores because these bands aren't part of the Algorithm or the garbage of the mainstream media, which for me are baby metal, band maid, hanabie, just crap like that. No mention of Mardelas, Bridear, Aldious who are bands that were jammin way before any of these new bands and so much better. Lovebites are on top of the list and are the greatest band in the world none can even begin to come close to their caliber
The skill set coming out of Japan from these all-female bands is insane. Especially, Lovebites, Band Maid, and Nemophilla. All 15 of them are insanely good. I was asked recently to describe Lovebites. The only way I could think of how to describe them, is, as Heavy Metal Opra.

Lovebites are fun, yet I'd recommend Light Bringer as well (mostly because everyone else will swamp you with pretty much every Lovebites song), Light Bringer isn't active anymore but their keyboardist Mao Yamamoto is (or maybe was, not sure about current status) one of Lovebites' songwriters.
Hyperion, Clockwork Journey or Eau Rouge are awesome and have a few prog elements sprinkled in for fun.
For Lovebites recommends I see that everyone has you covered :P

@@DrumRollTonyReacts Mao has written 5 Lovebites songs, including Holy War, and has collaborated in writing songs with three of the band members (Miho, the bassist, Asami, vocalist and Midori, stage right guitarist). Miyako, the stage left guitarist, has never worked with Mao in the writing and arranging her 20 songs. Haruna, the drummer, has only contributed one song so far and it was entirely written by her.
