When you said getting 4 wheels on the ball isn't a reset, but the center of mass of you car is (4:02). That just changed my life, thanks virge love the vids
It is all 4 wheels, but the physics hitboxes for the wheels are not always lined up with the visual wheel meshes, both in location relative to the car and in current suspension travel
@@silkky_ right, the visible wheel meshes cant touch it, but the invisible wheel hitboxes (the things that are used in the isOnGround check) do touch the ball
Virge Hey @Virge in the latest video the section of strategy talk is muted. But can you tell us what talking about strats can mean? Is it something like „ok, go for boost starve ready to defend long clears to keep pressure“ or what points? What are strategies for pros in general? Pls!
Air dribbles and ceiling shots were natural, but I was missing the break before takeoff in the setup for flip resets. Came quickly after that. Thank you.
Excellent tutorial, the one that really helped me the most was the pop and stop, before I was just hitting the ball and jumping and I was way too close to do anything.
Honestly thought this channel wouldn’t help. but i gave it a shot... and it’s AMAZING. Virge is just so much more in depth about things and not just saying, “oh do this and you get a flip reset like and subscribe.” he took the time bruh props to you man
I love how most players who get to GC love this game for the sole reason of game mechanics which translates to using a single mechanic in endless possibilities from anywhere in the field. Even a simple ball pop mechanic has endless variations to it.
This couldn't be any more perfectly timed. Just started practicing a week or so ago and already starting to hit them a lot more consistently and used a training pack!
This helped me out so much, I hit my first flip reset in a ones match after watching this, and then i hit a flip reset assist in a twos match right after. Thank you so much! this video was so insanely helpful
I'm GC but for the life of me figured I'd always be shit at flip resets. Turns out your little trick of stopping before following the ball was a game changer. Thanks!!
Great tutorial once again never tried phil.... Flip reset before in my life and managed to get it few times after 30 minutes in freeplay after watching this... And 3 months ago airdribble seemed impossible for me...
Amazing tutorial! I was trying to flip reset thinking : "I just go upside down under the ball right?" but it wouldn't work. Thanks to this tutorial i now know i need to stop before i jump of the wall and how to properly approach the ball upside down in the air. Now i can hit flip resets like 20% of the time, i'm sure after some practice i will be able to do it consistently all thanks to this video, great work!
The tutorial part is great but the part where you claim what gives the flip reset is plain wrong. All 4 physics wheels have to be touching the ball, as the car is considered as on the ground that way and that is what gives back a flip. There are multiple reasons that this may seem very disconnected from your experience. The physics wheels don't always align with the visual wheels. For cars that have had their physics changed (or been switched to a preset) they don't necessarily line up well at all. For something like the octane, they match very well but there is another problem. The visual suspension is smoothed and never extends as far as the physics counterpart. This is not that huge but it can cause those situations where it barely looks like a wheel isn't touching. The tip with banging the underside can actually be very useful. If you bang it there with speed then it is likely that all 4 wheels will touch at some point because the ball can't reach the area without it. However, it doesn't mean that you can't land softly on the ball and get a flip reset. It just requires many more times more precise air roll alignment because otherwise one of the wheels will already start bouncing back off the ball by the time all the others have made contact. I understand if the comment might get deleted if I say this but I have a video on Why wheel hits are so weird. I do think that is one of the most important things to know because it helps to understand a part of Rocket League's physics that is the least intuitive.
Rocket Science Wouldn’t the centre of mass be in the middle of the 4 physics wheels? So although being inaccurate, it might help visually. Unless I’m wrong ofc.
As true as this may be, my explanations are more for visual learning than extreme physics accuracy, but thank you for this info! It’s definitely helpful and people should watch all your videos if they want to improve :)
@@kami8473 Rocket science probably knows the most about the physics in this game than anyone else who has ever played it. Watch his videos smh. PS: Sizz is NRGS coach sooooo yeah...
bro, you helped me so much to do a flip reset, in the minute 5:36, you told me that i could apply several mechanics to do a flip reset, and i did what you said and did a new way to do one flip reset and it worked, thank you very much
Idk why but its like the 4th video of phillip reset tutorial I watched and its the only one I understood and btw tks so much I’ve been practicing and I’m waiting for the perfect opportunity to impress my friends😁
I couldn't figured out why I was being pushed away from the ball every time i hit the reset. FINALLYYY, I had no idea back and front half of the car has different reaction to it. I even tried attempting to approach to the ball at the 90 degrees or perpendicular when I get the flip. The problem with that was, my touch was very soft after the reset and the ball wouldn't go far away. Thank you Verge, you just fixed my Philips.
I’ve literally been practicing flip resets for weeks in free play and I feel unstoppable in the air. I went from not being able to fly backwards to being able to get a flip reset nearly ever time I go for one and It’s a very rewarding feeling
Dude im a c1 barely hitting flip resets. I got on and tried this and i was getting flip resets 7/10 times. Thanks dude this was awesome. You earned a suscriber.

Thanks for the help hit my first flip reset in training within an hour👌 guys I would suggest using wall to air dribble training back, and at first instead of trying to air roll into it at first, just jump of the wall and start the aerial with your car already upside down, then try air rolling into it
That intro was insane! Your videos are really taking my game to places I didn't know were possible. Your videos show me what to do and how to do it and all I have to do is put it to use and practice on perfecting it by practicing. Love your videos, and keep up the solid work!
Thanks, this is prob the best tutorial on this that i found, i spend a whole day without getting a good flip reset on other tutorials, on this, i spend 5 minutes and got a decent flip reset.
I just got done watching Musty’s video and that was a good laugh. Great tutorial. I’m one of those mechanical players who has to do extra spins for no reason lol. I’m also subbed
The pop and stop is new to me, but the ball approach made a big difference for me as well. I was trying to go where the ball was going to be so I could catch it upside down, but flying at the ball and then adjusting has made it so much easier. They're still pretty scuffed, but I can get the resets way more reliably in training now.
This may sound stupid - but, the "Brake/Jump" was just a Game-changer for me on "near goal" wall/Phillip setups...never tried feathering the Brake before. I just went into a Pack and tried it and it's WAY more reliable (as long as you've got the Boost to spare). I *could* set them up on a "normal pop", but being so close to the goal and the ball in that situation, a second touch/rotate into a Double-Tap or normal Air Dribble into the Crossbar always made more sense in practice. I only attempt "near their goal" Phillips when it's popped slow and HIGH (which I can then Air Roll into) or a catch off a ceiling bounce. Usually, I'd only ever rotate my car to attempt them on longer (at least) half-pitch wall pops. Great vid as usual my friend and thank you. I should go practice.
Cant promise to hit an open ned, but I promise that your channel will bOoM in future. Starts by the nice intro, follows up by the nice content and ends with the end of the video! Keep it up
