I broke a sweat today! Haven't done that in a while. So happy, that I did some of my first small hops w both feet! I'm a tibia plateau and radius and ulna fractured via a hit and run I survived from back in April 2021! Your guys tips are real good and I feel good doing them! Kudos guys!
So so happy to hear you have found us and are well on your way to recovery! Be sure to subscribe, we have knowledge bombs dropping weekly! Rooting for you!
This is really helpful. It’s been 5 months since surgery after a lateral plateau fracture, and I’m doing good, but I’m still having difficulty. One thing no one every talks about is getting the inside of the knee straight again. My injured right knee wants to move towards my uninjured left one.
@@ThePrehabGuys Thanks so much. I’ve finished my PT about a month ago, but I’m continuing to work hard at recovery. I’m able to do just about everything, but there is still some pain when I’m going downstairs, in particular. I never thought of going sideways, and tried that this morning. Big help. One of the things that I didn’t get from PT was how important getting that knee extended is. It’s not like it was ignored, but it seemed like we concentrated more on range of motion. I’m working much more on that, and it does make my knee uncomfortable, but it’s nothing compared to the pain after surgery! I’m 70, and I’ve always been very active and fit. This has been a struggle, but it is not going to stop me. I’m ready to ride my horse as soon as our Wisconsin weather gets a little nicer!
Love this! I always avoid putting any pressure on my hurt knee 🥴 now I’ll look forward going up and down the stairs at work. And I’m definitely doing the squats from now on. 💜
Great tips. I'm 13 months post-op TPF surgery & plate. Haven't worked up to squats yet. It's easier to go down stairs, but painful to go up. Stepping up feels weird, like something not right inside. I can't visualize what might be happening, but your opening demo with the knee model looks like maybe the patellar tendon - or even ACL - might be the problem. I was doing great at six months and had bone graft slippage, ACL/MCL and meniscus damage and had to start over from scratch. Originally it was easy going up - no pain whatsoever - but coming down was very tricky and painful. Now it's the opposite. Whyyyyyy is it so weird - I don't know what's wrong!!!!???
Michele, so sorry to hear about this rollercoaster you have been on with your knee following surgery! This is never an easy recovery and know that we are rooting for you! While we can't give indivdiualized advice over media (we hope you understand) we would recommend talking to your surgeon about possibly partaking in our knee program. This is a great program to improve both your mobility and your strength to help alleviate pain and get you back to conquering stairs and whatever it may be that you are wanting to get after! Chat with your surgeon and see if it is a good option for you moving forward! Sending good vibes your way! theprehabguys.com/knee-prehab-program/
@@ThePrehabGuys Thanks for the response! I started trying your exercise suggestions immediately, and my knee already feels stronger. Wow! Putting the weight on the damaged leg when sitting and standing is the key. Already I can do it!
@@ThePrehabGuys Can you explain what muscle group is used going up the stair, and alternately, what muscle group is working to go down the stair? It seems the patellar tendon is working to lift the foot going up? And going down seems the popliteus or IT band is involved? Two different types of actions.
Hey Doma, thanks for reaching out! So sorry to hear about your knee discomfort but your [P]rehab family is rooting for you! I encourage you to chat with your physical therapist about the knee discomfort following surgery. Something you may try is raising the chair up a bit to assist with the sit to stand motion and decreasing the load placed on your knee!
Jesus, why I haven't google you before? Thanks a lot, your advises helps a lot, I had ACL complication and long and hard rehab, I cant get exstension and flexion (I got sepsa and trombosis), surgery was on April... Thanks a lot for videos
Good afternoon, i hope you can help me, i have been suffering from a pain on the back of my right knee since 2018, it feels like a tendon gets so tight that i cannot even straight my leg, eventually i developed a Baker cyst, my doctors say it's bc of my knee OA, the pain was unbearable that finally i got the cyst surgically removed, my open surgery was on January 20, as of today, it feels like the cyst is coming back so is the pain, any advice please? now my left knee started bothering me ...
Some good UA-cam content regarding arthritis coming soon but we have some great blogs on it in the meantime! theprehabguys.com/is-strengthening-the-best-option-for-osteoarthritis/
This is brilliant ! Putting the injured leg back ! Why have I not been told this by physios before ??? I have grade 4 osteoarthritis on my right knee. Sounds bad but it doesn’t give me trouble that stops me doing stuff (apart from road running). So I will be doing these life hacks. Tried the previous lot of exercises such as stepping onto a platform on one leg, holding weights). I found that most beneficial for my osteoarthritic right knee. Question. How do I avoid pushing off the opposite (ie left) ankle though, because then I feel like I’m not really using the right quad to actually ‘lift off’, which defeats the purpose of the exercise? Should I lean forward more on the right leg that’s on the step? Does height of step matter? Mine is the same height as my knee. Is that too high? Thank you for your time. 💪🏽😁
I think I have pain in my patella tendons on both knees do y’all have any methods to rehab it. It hurts when I’m going up from a squat and going up the stairs

I was looking through your videos to try to find it before commenting, but so you have something for elbow pain? I'm not 100% sure it's golfers elbow but it's right at the inside of the elbow right in front of the bone. Feels like the muscles of the forearm flexors but could be the actual tendon. Ive tried voodoo flossing and do get short term relief that way but by morning the discomfort is back. I've noticed it gets extremely aggravated with pill ups and front levers but not with dips or pushups. Trying to trace back, I think it started when I began training for the floor Planche. Anyway, sorry for the long post. I'm waiting to get insurance so I can see a physician but I was hoping to find something effective for the time being. I've decided to avoid any type of pulling movements for at least 2 weeks and see if that helps.
I'm an athlete and I recently had an hyper extension injury. I did some tests and the doc said there's no ligament tear. It's been a week of icing and massaging but the pain is still there when I climb the stairs or try a squat. I have a tournament in two weeks and I need to recover from this as soon as possible. Can you help me out a little bit?
