@Paloma Savaengcharoen I live in Thailand and I see many problems here. The documentary is quite right: Thailand is a deeply fragmented and incoherent country not least because Buddhism is totally incompatible with the concepts of monarchy, materialism and consumerism. Monarchy symbolises the epitome of permanence while materialism and consumerism symbolise the epitome of corruption and inequality. These concepts are in total contradiction with the basic Buddhist notions of impermanence and of removing corruption as the main cause of suffering. To force people to accept these contradictions from birth through "acculturation and education" is enough to cause such immense confusion as to drive anyone crazy. How can the "red mob" not rise up when some of them are now scavenging the leftovers found in the Elite's dustbins to survive?

12 years ago i was working in a big hotel chain in Dubai owned by the Thai royal family. Expectedly the company employed lots of Thais. I became friends to most of them. In a fews occasions we've talk about the monarchy, even back then they already knew that this situation will happen once King Bhumibol passed away because they are aware that then crown prince was a irresponsible person who only wanted a lavish life without taking responsibility. He had photos walking around naked. For a conservative Thai culture, that was very scandalous. One of them said that it's probably the end of the monarchy. In my understanding in Thai monarchy tradition a woman can't inherit the tile unlike in the UK.

Millions of Thais and foreigners have long been brain-washed, included Kofi Anan. The reality is $45b. in the asset and all free tax. That not include bribery from a private corporation of Asia, the EU, and the US. They are the shadow corporation. The world's richest king of millions lives under $200 p/d.

" In any case England gets more money from her anyway as long as she is alive there will be millions of tourists that will give England all the tax they need from her."
The kings of France, the emperors of Rome, the Medici, and the Sforza are all dead but France and Italy bring in far more tourists than England. I can actually go into Versailles because there's no royalty living there (unlike Buckingham palace) and I can see all the artwork the Medici accumulated in Florence because they're dead (I can also see great Renaissance memes like John the Baptist pointing at Jesus or Saint Sebastian chilling with a bunch of arrows in his Chest and eat veal, which is totally illegal in my country). The Spanish empire is no more, but a strong culture and good weather keep people coming there (another country that beats England in volume of tourists). A lot of English tourism comes from lame Americans who want to visit the old world without having to come to a country where they can't understand the language or from moderately respectable Americans who want to see their ancestral homeland --> 3.8 million Americans are gonna visit the UK annually with or without the queen.
So, the Queen's divine right to rule cannot be justified by tourism.

Real reason that triggered people to step out is because of the frequent abductions and kills of the people who voices out especially against a certain group of people’s benefits. Those cases were all buried and the law are made in the way that we can’t testify or speak out to find the culprit ever. Even now, government is using unjustified methods to silence the people and jailing them. The government and uniformed men only act in a way that keeps several families rich and stays in power. Law aren’t even used properly anymore, they decided who they wants to arrest before deciding the law they’re guilty for, and most of the time it doesn’t even made sense.

While it is noble to protest for more democracy and a reform of the Monarchy, the real problem is the system itself.. Thailand is not one of the most unequal nations worldwide because of the Monarchy or the Military that is backed by it. The root of all problems is widespread corruption throughout all constitutions and levels of society and that people rather live with it and exploit it if it favors them, than fight it.

Many Thais still love the last king, King Rama IX, for what he did for the country.
Now King Rama X, as you might have seen from the news, does nothing to impress his citizen.

When I was last in Thailand, some years ago, the current king’s late father was still generally revered by most people - but it was clear that even the staunch royalists I spoke to didn’t think very much of his playboy son, the current king, who they largely regarded as being a waster, pissing about partying in Europe and other places, and not remotely bothered about Thailand or the Thai people.
Indeed, the fact that he’s now the king - but spends most of his time living outside Thailand - is like a slap in the face to the Thai people; kind of says that they, and their country, aren’t good enough for him to bother living in. How do you lead a country if you won’t even live there? I mean, who does that? What of his responsibility to his country?
At the same time, of course, the Thai monarchy has a vast amount of wealth - I haven’t forgotten the utter, utter, utter poverty that I also saw in Thailand, no matter how many skyscrapers and mega apartment blocks and crazy expensive supercars I saw - there’s sharp poverty in my country, too, but you don’t see shoeless old people wandering the streets, picking up litter to try and survive, like I saw there.
Shrugging and saying “that’s just the way it is here” is a horrific, unacceptable attitude - those old people, and other destitute Thai citizens I saw, were being utterly failed and abandoned by the Thai state and government, which as a European is alien and jarring to me - the state is there to serve the citizens, not the other way around.
To be clear, I’m Not saying to abolish the royalty - although my country got rid of our kings and queens a long time ago - but I don’t think that the traditional Thai model of absolute obedience and subservience to the royals (especially to a king who’s clearly not respected like his father was), coupled with being punished by the military for speaking out, can continue much longer. Thailand’s future will be decided by its youth - and they clearly want change, and an end to the current system.
I’m not sure what the answer is, but best of luck to the Thai people, whichever side of this issue that they may be on...

something a lot of people don't know is that bhumibol killed his brother when they were young & it was all blamed on a " shooting accident " but he did it because he wanted to become king ...

I love the Thai People. They are so unique. I have worked all over Asia, but do Know other people that I admire. The one place on the
Mediterranean that all of us is apart and a social kind of nice people, beautiful scenery of the mountains, snow in the winter, fisherman
just like everyone risking their lives to feed their family and friends. That Country is Algeria. I am not a Frenchie I am an Saxon. One day
and I do not care, if I ever leave Asia and need a people I can be totally and utterly safe if they know me, Algeria is where I want to be.
