    You did a fabulous job with this beautiful rose! Sorry to hear about the heat damage. I planted one two weeks ago. I'm in 9a too. Last summer was brutal. We will see. Good luck regrowing it.

    Can you tell me how long before my Peggy rose bush will start to bud up and flower?? My bush is covering up my whole fence but not a single bud in sight 😭. My plant is about 9 months old. When will she start to bud up?? Your Peggy is so amazingly beautiful!!!🤩 I cant wait!!!!

      My had a small amount of flowers after one year, but more and more after. Top dress with compost. Good luck. By the way, mine suffered summer heat damage so I cut it off to try something else. The roots grew several seedlings so I will regrow it.

    I am so in love with this rose . May I ask what type of structure you used ? material and dimensions? Did you intertwine the branches on the support or allowed it to grow on top and secured it ? Thank you !

    • @fairfieldgarden7484
      @fairfieldgarden7484  Рік тому

      Yvonne, the trellis was made with 3 cattle panels measuring 50” x 16 ft to form the arch, held together with 12 t-posts (4 per panel), secured with clips. The branches were just growing over the trellis without ties. The weight and intertwining branches held them securely together. Even heavy winds in thunder storms could not blown them off. Good luck.

    What a beautiful rose . Is it one plant ? At the base it looks like two plants .

      Yvonne, it is only one plant. The bed was built with 100% compost and I rarely fertilize. Lots of rain lately and it’s flowering again.

    I am in zone 9. How can I help my Peggy Martin Rose grow faster.

    • @fairfieldgarden7484
      @fairfieldgarden7484  Рік тому +2

      @angelessanchez6195, I find vining roses grow faster with extra watering and rich loamy soil. First few years are for growing roots then you’ll have a nice big spring show. Train the canes and prune off the “wild” one. Good luck.

    Can you dig up the suckers to have additional plants?

    • @fairfieldgarden7484
      @fairfieldgarden7484  Рік тому +1

      Of course. Propagating from canes is also pretty easy.

      You may find it at Enchanted Garden, Enchanted Forest, Cornelius Nursery, etc. Call them to confirm availability. Houston Garden Center has it available occasionally. Good luck. Too late for online purchase now.

    Can you plant the suckers to start new rose bush

    • @fairfieldgarden7484
      @fairfieldgarden7484  Рік тому

      @lauren page, suckers can be new starts. This is own root rose so root suckers are true to parent.

    I have cuttings who are growing leaves, but are taking so long to grow. One of them shed almost all its leaves :(

      @@fairfieldgarden7484 Will the one that shed all its leaves regrow leaves do you think?

    • @fairfieldgarden7484
      @fairfieldgarden7484  4 місяці тому

      @@HinaMunnee It depends on what caused the leaf drop in the first place. You don’t want weak seedlings from the beginning. Keep the strong ones growing and you can propagate more from them.

      @@fairfieldgarden7484 Thank you. I think I wasn't watering it enough. It needs lots of water, even though the soil is moist whenever I check and the tiny leaves were turning brown, it still needs more water.
