The Grand Finale of our Polar Lights 1:350 Enterprise Refit build series.
This video shows the final steps of completing the model and installing it on it's custom made display base.
I always thought this was the most beautiful, cinematic Enterprise.
Bar none
You know, I love 3D animation and I've been doing it for years, but there is still something to be said about a highly detailed physical model.
There is no way CGI could equal the detail and realism that you gave this piece of art called “Enterprise”.
Boyd, btw, I continue to enjoy your STTMP round table as music at my kitchen table workbench. Four greats of a Golden Age.
I still have to pinch myself to believe I got the chance to sit and hear their stories. Once in a lifetime experience for a fan.
Thank you for this historical journey of an iconic Vessel. Very interesting especially the ILM bit about the running lights.
Boyd this is still the best Polar Lights refit out there.
When you swung the camera around to the shuttle bay, I felt like I could just walk right in. Great work, great attention to detail.
Hi Boyd. You built the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 for me and it is so beautiful. It will be in my family for a very long time.
Hi Louis, I remember doing your build. Glad to hear it's in a good home :)
The best Enterprise ever. I wish I could have one of your models of this model. Beautiful build. I am glad you used the red and green marker lights. Spectacular.
It'd be great to see this now. This video is over 5 y.o.!
Still very impressive and absolutely beautiful work of art.
I still can't wrap my head around how detailed this piece is.
How can you be so awesomely skilled to create such a thing, and not know it's fully "lit", not fully "lighted"? Almost missed out on seeing this excellent work because the title sounded like one by someone who doesn't know what they're doing - which is absolutely not the case! Edit your title, get even more views!
That base is a masterpiece!
So perfect. Just so perfect. My favorite Enterprise.
That's the most gorgeous model of the USS Enterprise I've ever seen that wasn't full studio scale! Amazing work! I wish I had the skills to build something like that for myself!
Congratulations. Your version of the Enterprise refit is absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful job. Makes me want to be a future client. This is by far my favorite design of the Enterprise. That Base is beautiful!
That is what a model should be...like a dream come to life right there before your eyes...kinda catches that old childhood wonder and kindles it for a while...that is awesome...love every detail...from fore to aft, port and starboard, top to bottom...and that base is wonderful as well...That is how one brings lifeless plastic to life...👍...keep on modeling, you are a craftsman.
I'm just seeing this, and wow! The lighting at about 1601 just said "sunset" to me it was so beautiful. The pearly paint plus that gorgeous sheen just worked perfectly. My goodness, given studio lighting and camera work, this could easily be a movie prop.
This ship looks incredible from every single camera angle imaginable. The best-design starship in TV and film, bar none.
Boyd, this is about the 5th time I have watched this series, never gets boring. I am finally getting ready to tackle my Refit build with the full Aztek paint job. Wish me luck, I know that I would even have attempted it without this build series, and thank you for being so generous in sharing so many tips about this kit and how to achieve professional results. You rock brother!
Glad to know the videos inspire, have fun and take your time.
Certainly will take my time Boyd, also am anxiously awaiting the release of the "Refit Enterprise" painting mask that you are working on with Jerry at HDA Model Works. Having individual mask for each color the way that the pylon mask work for the secondary hull and nacelles should really not only make the mask easier to work with but save much time with color changes. So glad you guys are doing that.
Boyd, here in the hospital in Lafayette, LA and I just finished watching the " Refit Build" series start to finish for the 6th time. No worries, not some kind of freak stalker, just really enjoy watching it come together as when my stitches from the surgery come out I'm about to attempt one as close to yours as I can fir my 23 year old son's Christmas present..Again, thanks for so generously sharing your techniques as you have these builds down to a science my friend
Wow! I remember how amazed I was with the Enterprise in ST-TMP when it first came out. This is an incredible model, a real credit to your research and hard work 👍🏻
That sets the gold standard for the 1/350. Truly uncommon and remarkable craftmanship.
Congratulations.
I cannot express to you how incredibly gorgeous your model is. And I know the camera does it no justice. It must be absolutely breathtaking in person. Deep bow of respect (-:
Amazing... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Totally mind blowing. You are an incredible model builder. Hats off to you. 🖖🏽
Awesome 350 TMP Enterprise! Next time you should show how you'd pack/crate up the 350 Enterprise so the client would get it in over excellent condition.
I HAVE this model kit! My Fiancee got it for me for my Birthday. I am SO Looking forward to working on it! :D
Dear BoydJust when I think you cant top your last build, you take your talent to a another level !!! This is by far the best re-fit I have ever seen on the internet. Awesome work and as always thanks so much for sharing these great builds. If I were a big tv producer, you would already have your own show on the Discovery channel or maybe its time for a new hobby channel... I know plenty of people who would watch !!!
Boyd... the James T Kirk of Star Trek Modellers!!! CONGRATULATIONS your incredible work really does the Starship USS ENTERPRISE NCC 1701 PROUD!!!! THANKYOU for sharing your EXCEPTIONAL skills with all of us mere mortals in red shirts around the world who love Star Trek but will never have the skills to build the Enterprise in all her glory like you do. Its been an absolute privilege to watch your exceptional work thru your Trekworks Channel. May the Wind Be at Our Backs...Stations Please...Live Long & Prosper!!!!
shaene ian Thanks :)
Boyd, you and Jeremy have really outdone yourself! The Refit turned out beautiful with all the aztecs and beautiful colors!!! And with that base, just WOW!!!
Your work is fantastic.
Beautiful. The Swan of the Gallaxy.
EPIC. The flagship and the finest vessel in the fleet Sir!
Words can't do this build justice! Fantastic kit and base, both a thing of absolute beauty. I don't think I could get bored looking at either of them. You really have out done yourself Boyd and thank you for sharing the build!
I just watched the video, discovered it when I was just perusing around youtube, beautiful model !!
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
That base simply sets a crown on the build quality, such a nice finishing touch. Awesome job, thanks for sharing this with us!
CollectoManiac Thank you :)
I built a refit model but with it being my first one I didn't think about blacking out the inside. It looks good but my next one, which I just got yesterday will reflect on what I've learned from my mistakes. It's gonna have illuminated bussard collectors ,a bridge and a hangar bay. If it looks good enough maybe I'll post a few pics.
The Finale of our Polar Lights 1:350 Scale Enterprise Refit Build Series.
Incredible, studio quality work. Just amazing. I would love to get a quote for a commissioned work.
what would it cost me to build my 350 scale Enterprise model, I have had it in the box for a while now but I am not able to give it the justice it deserves due to arthritis in my hands.
Absolutely gorgeous! Such a perfect update of the original. No doubt she's the same ship... just born again sleek.
What I like is when you look into the windows you can see the detailed interior and people.
Beautiful, a work of art! You have truly captured the essence of TMP Refit's magic!
Best refit I've ever seen, and I've been watching them since the kit was first released. good work!!
Awesome job Boyd
Wow ! Impressive ! Fantastic work ! Professional ! Just received my Refit Enterprise, and can't wait to tackle it. I would never have attempted a project like this without your help ! Thanks, great job !
Absolutely inspiring! I just finally got my hands on this model and am collecting all the mods and stuff for it right now. I just hope that I can do as beautiful of a job as you did with this one. It's breathtaking! This and one other build by Ian Lawrence are the most incredible and beautiful builds of this ship (my absolute favorite ship) that I have ever seen. The amount of time, effort, work, and attention to detail is just astounding.
These videos are invaluable and I have this series and a few of your other videos, with a few odd others, saved in a playlist for when I start production on this project. I have spent the past few years doing a lot of studying, watching, planning, and collecting for this specific model and I cannot wait to get started on it! I am very nearly there!
I have put a lot of thought into my custom base for it too and pretty much have it all worked out except for the top facing part underneath the actual model. I just can't decide what will look the best and will be worthy of the ship herself. BUT THEN I saw the one you had for this one with the reflective glass! It's absolutely perfect! I would need to make a couple of slight tweaks to make it work with my base's design, but the overall design and look of it is perfect. I have no idea how to even go about getting something like that myself, especially in my area, but I've got to figure it out. Haha!
Thank you for sharing your tried and true, expert knowledge of model making with us all, sir, and may I say again, what an absolutely gorgeous model she was!
Where are the likes???? This is great!!!
OMG that is simply gorgeous, love the base, its a work of genius.
Awesome in the dark
You build beautiful models with a great eye for detail!
Wow!!!! Looks amazing!!!
Try using shrink tubing instead of tape sometime its difficult in some areas if you dont have a very precsion heat source or pinpoint flame torch. Also requires some heat shielding in some areas so you dont melt the plastic model or damage paint. Sounds like a real pain in the butt but its worth it. This is really nice you did a great job. The gloss turned out pretty nice. The lighting is great. And the base now thats really good.
Magnificent job! Absolutely stunning, too bad CBS didn't get in contact with you guys with T.O.S. enterprise
Truly amazing work on the refit Boyd,The Base is truly awesome,Jerry and Dave did a fantastic job on it is is really a work of art to go along with the Enterprise Refit..
That is a museum quality piece! Just incredible!
Impressive work.
Wow! Stunning! You've outdone yourself Boyd.
I love this.. however I will be adding a 5 sided clear cover to the larger bases to seal the ship from the elements. Nice job Boyd and your team.
Any info on how to have a custom built base like that would be awesome. Seriously that best thing I've seen. Great work on that whole build man really.
One of the best Refits yet from the Trek Works shop.Way to go! :-)
Simply jaw dropping!
I am speechless
I know this is four years ago and it looks great by the way but I have some suggestions for diffusing light. First though as a guy that does lots of electrical work, shrink tube is so much better than electrical tape. Now I have also found that in laptop screens there are diffuser sheets. You can cut them up into a desired shape and it really softens the glow of an led and disperses the light in an almost magical way. Give it a try ,it works good with the light coming out of something like the impulse engines or nacelles and it may have come in real handy on your deflector dish glow
Just watched the whole build. Some absolutely amazing work! At first I was watching to learn techniques but frankly this is more like an advert for your skills in producing a first rate product. Next time I come across a big chunk of money I may have to commission you for my very own TOS and refit Enterprises!
A thing of beauty, just stunning. Well done.
Just stunning all the time and love you guys have put into building this amazing model shows.
Such an awesome job
This is exquisite! Such attention to detail!
Still incredible in 2023
Good Lord Boyd, that is absolutely studio quality work, and the base is just the icing on the cake. Just beautiful. I hope to build one just like her. That said without this very detailed build series, I don't think I would be able to make it happen. I have fun with challenging build, but I know I will be emailing you with question along the way, so thanks for offering up that option. Again, thanks so much for all of the techniques you so generously shared my friend, I really appreciate it. Congratulations on your upcoming growth as TrekWorks "refits" into her new facilities and I wish you continued success and all the best!

That base is gorgeous!
Just watched the entire build. Your work is phenomenal.
Great job on that Enterprise! Magnificent details and excellent craftsmanship!
Wow, that's really impressive. I love that two color deflector. Geezus, that's great.
Well Boyd. She truly is a glorious piece of work. When I first started watching you on trekworks, I was just simply looking for some advice on putty seam work, and stumbled onto your defiant build, and that inspired me to take my game to the next level. So Now, I have been working on my Enterprise 1/350 Refit for about 6 mo. now, and I'm closing in on the finished product. Nowhere near as good as yours, but it's still the best model I have put together thanks to you and all of your shows with all the modeling tips. So I want to say thank you. I would like to send you an invite to my little group on facebook called "The modelers League" I would be so honored If you would check it out. Once again...Thanks.
Thanks for sharing that buildup on your channel, Boyd. I'm just continually impressed by the work that you do. It inspires me to keep trying to do better. Great job, my friend!
Beautiful job Boyd, that base is fantastic

The base is amazing! Incredible work!
Nice work!!

Museum Quality guys!
Beautiful as always Boyd. Followed along carefully and learned so much that I'm using on my refit build. Thanks!
Wow great job!!
Boyd,.. This is 'Spictacular' in every sense of the word..! I've watched your video's,.. And you have 'inspiered me to start building 'Starships' again after 20 years!!
Finishing up m first build... An Endeavor Class 'refit',... Out of an old ERTL/AMT '18' inch kit.. Then, my design is next in 1/350... A 'Through-Deck' Heavy Battle Cruiser.. Waldemar class... Hope you'll look for it on Starship Modeler on fb..!?!
Outstanding!
Holy crap this thing is amazing. Have you considered this as a business? I'm sure lots of folks would be happy to order one of these. Now if only they'd also make a 1:350 scale Miranda as well!
Well worth the journey following this build! Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing with us.
Very well done, and the base is beautiful!
badgrendels Thanks John and a waaayyyy bigger congrats to you on the new addition to your family :)
Wow!!! Another beautiful job.Your attention to detail is outstanding! You've got me thinking now about building one of these refits myself. Although I don't think I could do a job anywhere near as professional as you, I think I'm gonna do it. As much as I love the original series Enterprise. The refit has always been my favorite outta the Enterprises. Keep up the great work sir!👍👍
Very nice job, I would like to build this model but it would take too much time and patience
Absolutely magnificent !
This is a nice build. Good job brother. I am halfway through building the 1:537 refit. It has been a nightmare. Pieces don’t fit correctly, it has been a bitch to paint because the molded in Aztecs they put on the model act like channeling for paint to run. I’ve been constantly touching it up to the point I gave up and let it look the way it does with all the mistakes. I got Aztec decals from HDA model works, but still doesn’t look right. Makes me want to throw the whole thing out. But I won’t. I will finish it. Your build inspires me that one day as I get better I can build one that nice. Again good job brother.
Amazing! If I won the lotto I'd be getting so many models from you guys!
stychentyme Hah, we would appreciate the work! I might need to win the lotto soon to buy more shelves to put all these models we build and keep. It's the builders curse! You are having so much fun building them that you build more and more and they need to go somewhere :)
Just absolutely beautiful!
Wow...just...wow....
Best looking refit you've ever done Boyd! Amazing aztec details and the sheen looks perfect! Officers lounge & arboretum look fantastic along with the precision SMD lighting you've incorporated! I love Jerry's latest base too. BTW: We use the same Dykem blue during the construction of R2D2 droids :)
Han solo would be very proud! Way to go!
This is AMAZING work!
