  • Parkinson disease (PD) may impact driving and autonomous vehicle technologies could be helpful in navigating some of these challenges. We will discuss:
    The effects of PD on one's ability to drive.
    The most common errors made by drivers with Parkinson's.
    The importance of driving evaluations.
    We will explore the possible impact of autonomous vehicles for people with PD.
    Join Beth Gibson, OTR/L, Manager and Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist, and Benedict Hwangbo, a PhD student and graduate assistant in the Department of Occupational Therapy, both at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions in Gainesville. They will discuss their research findings, highlight the potential pros and cons and future application of autonomous vehicle technologies as well as the potential implications for mobility and accessibility in the Parkinson's community.
