Just a small point..If, when popping the cover off, you rotate the fob over, there is no need to have all the small parts fall out. The battery will be right there in front of you and all the small parts remain as they should in the Fob. Thanks for the video

I can't believe they wanted to charge me $200 for this at the dealership. I got 5 batteries for $6 on Amazon and did it myself in 30 seconds.

Any dealership that charges $200 for changing fob key batteries is a den of thieves as far as I'm concerned. My jeweler charges my watch battery for less than $20 and it's more work than a key fob. I'd tell that dealership to never again look forward to me buying another car there.

I didn't know that I had to replace the battery until the message pops up on the screen. I've driving my other car for 16 years and never replaced the battery in remote key or even refill the air conditioner. No more good cars in this days 😢

Wow. You're not a tech guy much. Did you know if you "pop" the fob in the opposite direction, you get immediate access to the battery (Energizer 2032) vice going thru all the crap you went thru de-boning the factory-sealed pieces as you did. Simply INVERT from the side you did and bingo. Battery is exposed. BTW, I found this video searching for a 2016 Camaro, so my guess, this is standard key fob for any Chevy that year.

One thing to be careful of which I found this out the hard way after doing it myself is that there is a tiny spring that is a part of the key release mechanism. When I took mine apart to replace the battery everything fell apart and didn't realize I lost the spring until I went to put the key back in and the fob kept falling off my lanyard. Only way to fix it is to buy a used or new fob since the dealer doesn't sell the springs even though they know it's a known issue with these fobs.
