the images are so dull and dim ...
Please saw megga village, kwa bari ya mega in mukui village, quite historical up to kwa bari ya kuria na Kagongo
I have learned people from these areas are very proud of their clans and families. Great place
The church in the slum is Full Gospel Church. It was there long before that land was turned in to a slum, which happened during the legacy of MP Githūngūri.
It seems you know this area very well. Thanks for the infor, the true history.
exactly ilikua hapo alone na hiyo side ingine ya chini ilikua kaburi
@@mungaigithothero5932 mūndū wa Gīthothero, geithīka! Nīma, hau nīho harī kībīrīra.
Your great grandfather Gīthothero ni mtu wa nguvu: he gave a piece of land for people to cross over from Kagongo to hau haa WaGīthere near Mūgumo. Kau gacīra mūtingīhinga, he left mūgambo.
Would have loved to see you cover the eastern part of Karura ka Mūrīmo all the way to Rueno.
Really? I would consider that in the near future
@@Villagetotowntv there's a Catholic church near Rueno - St. Anne's. The pub opposite Rueno underpass has an interesting history.
@@big-daddy-k What is the history behind? I know the pub
@Villagetotowntv the pub was closed for like 30 years. Apparently, the original owner died under mysterious circumstances, and the pub ownership was also contested. It was supposedly very successful initially but came under intense criminal attacks.
Waiting for this I'm interested about this karura Ka murimo
I remember mama isharia
16:18 we need to see gachie i hear it is really developing
Sure, its coming soon
@@Villagetotowntv thanks will be waiting na goodwork u doing✌️
And by the way, Karura forest has an ancient traditional curse (Kirumi) placed on it. It was never meant to be cleared. For eternity.
Wow! really? What happened?
@Villagetotowntv The owners wanted it to remain a forest. So they put a curse on it. All that land was owned by different families before it was grabbed by the colonial government. The families are still around. Dig around and you will find out. Even the whole of Nairobi used to belong to specific families.
@@petehaki3956 That's quite interesting. I will try and dig more.
Wait, when did Karura become part of Gathīga location? Did the mapping and jurisdiction change? It has always been in Kīhara location.
My bad, what about the ward?
@@Villagetotowntv Karura ka Mūrīmo is in Ndenderū ward. Not sure if Kanyūngū is in Kīhara Ward or in Ndenderū ward as well.
@@elizabethnganga Ohh I see..Kanyungu is in Kabete, around kihara highschool is Ndenderu, while Kihara starts at some place they refer as Namba 8 all the way down
@@Villagetotowntv This sounds this right but will confirm and revert.
@@Villagetotowntv kanyungu maduka ziko kabete na after hapo ni kabete as in barabara ndio imegawanya kiambaa na kabete
Karura ka Nyūngū, named so because of the biggest pot making industry around. It was ran by the Leakey's.
Wow, great insights there!
Still following you enroute to Gachie. This road was an eyesore in your last video featuring Gachie. You will notice that toward the end of that road, at a place called 'Rifarori' (some say its Kikuyu corruption of River Road), there is another place called Karura. Those of us from Gachie have a right to lay claim that Karura forest got its name from here!! The basis of making this bold claim is we have Karura SDA Secondary and Primary schools, Karura SDA Church and Karura SDA Mission Conference. But I stand to be corrected though.
We will get there. It seems like there are so many places called Karura around Gachie!
How did Seventh Day Adventist SDA make in roads in that area ?
Catholic and PCEA are the dominant religions in Central.
@@wawerukamau1260 The colonial government then had a policy of controlling churches movements. History has it that SDA missionaries were given a licence to be somewhere in southern Nyanza Kisii, a malaria prone area. Many lost their lives. So History continues to say one missionary called Armstrong ( corrupted mŭrong'a in kikuyu) challenged the colonialists on health ground who eventually allowed them near Nairobi but in a forest!
@@klaguardia2326 Thanks.
Elders also told us the colonial priest only taught the Bible verse relevant to the subduefiication of local indigenous people.
The master can't outshine the servant.

most of my family members live here
Wow, its a nice place
Karura kamurimo is in kiambaa and kanyungu is in kabete
Ohh I see, Thank you for the infor
Karura Forest was there before the Karura towns. Karura is small stream that runs through the forest. That is where the name comes from. Please do your research properly.
Karura village is too old. It was in existence even before the colonial govt gave the forest the official name
I Disagree the original owners of city park in parkland homes from Karura and Kihara /Gachie area we knows better Route 107 finnest
@@VillagetotowntvTrue will explain to them later
Sure, people living around Karura and Gachie area have been claiming they lost their land all the way to Parklands (including Muthaiga and Karura forest) to the colonial govt through historical injustices. They refer themselves as Mbari ya Kihara. Thanks for remininding me that piece of unwriten history lol
And you are doing a wonderful job documenting all these towns. I know most of the ones you have featured in Kiambu. I remember them from the 1980s and they were thriving. The world has really changed. They have died and others have replaced them....bigger and better.
My father stated full gospell there
Kihara,Gachie, karura all the. way to Wangige had alot of crime during the 90's
Really? I hope they changed
Kidly tufanyie karura ka murimo

Karura ka Muremu is Kiambaa Constituency.
Oh really. Nice
