- WE WENT ON A VERY SPECIAL TRIP TO THE PROVINCE OF ILOCOS NORTE...
I had the opportunity to judge the amazing Ilocano Tan-ok Festival of Festivals! But, I didn't really vlog it. Instead, I show you one of the incredible performances, and then a wonderful day exploring this Province up in the north of the Philippines. We start with a stop at Malacanang of the north, and the new Chinese Garden. After a wonderful Ilocano lunch at Paoay Lake, we head to Pinili and visit the national living treasure Magdalena Gamayo and her incredible weaving community. After eating delicious empanadas and stopping by the new lighthouse baywalk... we end up catching a sunset in the sand dunes!
This Province is just wonderful to explore... literally, it has everything! Just no snow.
POWER ON!

Awesome sunset and Ilocos has such good vibes. The performance at the end was amazing. Ilocanos can bring high quality performances. Their creativity is legit and performance well done. Very good.👍🏽 Thank you and Power On!
Very refreshing. Culture filled. Good vibes lang. Thank you for this vlog.
Pinakbet pizza?! My favorite vegetable dish. Looks yummy! It’s so nice to see a young person doing and learning how to weave from the living treasure Lola Magdalena. Lovely place Ilocos Norte.😊
so inspiring seeing a young guy learning how to weave with Nanay Magdalena
I'm an Ilocano and I'm proud to be one of your subscribers-fans. Btw, Welcome newly-minted Filipino!
Its a beautiful region in the North...luv this place...❤❤❤💐💐💐🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🙏🙏🙏🤩😍🥰👍😃😊
This is what I am waiting for, a content from Northern Luzon 🤗. Thank you for sharing this!! Watching from S Korea 🇰🇷❤️
Wow! That stage production is awesome! Kudos to the production staff, directors, writers, participants and everyone else!
Mas maraming salamat for bringing us along on this adventure!
Thanks for showing Ilocos Norte through your vlog. It was good to see a part of the region where my former girlfriend and her family, as well as so many of my friends in Hawaii, came from. That performance from the Currimao at Tan-Ok festival was so impressive. I'm not sure who impressed me more, the performers, or the stage hands. The stage hands really get a workout getting all the props in place and moving them around during the performance!
I remember eating and enjoying my girlfriend's mother's dinardaraan ("chocolate meat" she called it - lol!), although I'm not a fan of liver in it. And her pinakbet was one of my favorites! 😋
btw I really like Therine's shawl 19:17. The color is gorgeous and a great contrast with her black dress. She's as beautiful and fashionable as always!
Thank you so much Kulas this amazing blog so beautiful in Ilocos thank you so much for your hard work so awesome take care both of you with Therein and god bless you 🥰🥰🥰👌👌👌👍👍👍
Beautiful performance, very nice filming and fun to watch. Power on Kyle ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I am feeling nostalgic hearing ppl speaking authentic ilocano n listening to the songs in ilocano as well while performing on stage. The festival overall is awesome, no doubt about it. I'm glad to see Therine with Kulas n their friends. TAN-OAK festival rules...
Welcome to Luzon and Illocos Norte! Great to see you together with Therine! Please plan to come over to Cabanatuan City or Palayan, Provincial Capital of Nueva Ecija. We are here now to greet you and show you some places...

Mmmm... Ilocano foods...Ayos!!! Apir Sir Kulas

Kulas, thank you for sharing your trip to Ilocos Norte. I was entertained and amazed as well how beautiful the province is. I was there in 2017, went to Paoay, 4x4 ride, the Malacanang of Ilocos but wasn’t enough to appreciate the beauty of their culture. Their festival performances was impressive. Thank you for this educational vlog.
Last time I was in the Philippines was 2010.
Agyamanak ti ipapan mo dito nanumo nga lugar mi Kulas Always watching your vlog from Las Vegas
Mainit na kasi summer na hehehehe
Love the outfits Therine and you are wearing. I presume they are from Likhang Maragondon. They look comfy and stylish as well. Therine must be in weaving heaven considering that her advocacy has to do with supporting the local weavers in her community.👍 Thanks for sharing with us what Ilocos Norte has to offer.
Hope you can once again visit the Mountain Province and check Lias Silangan which is a part of Barlig Mt Province and show us the drone view which I believe will make you amazed. Then hike, Mount Amuyao. Show us also the Shangrila of the Mountain Province. You only passed by when you were on your bike but you would be amazed that their is more to explore.
Nice one
Awesome video Kulas
"kamarinn" is a cognate of Tagalog and Visayan "kamalig". In Proto-Malayo-Polynesian, the root word is "kamaliR" which means "house for [unmarried] boys", which evolved to mean "storage house" or "granary" in most Filipino languages.
Love it!!
Same here!!
Love watching those drone shots, Kulas! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful video of Ilocos Norte (makes us locals go proud). Nanay Magdalena Gamayo is our LEGEND! ❣️ Congratulations to Currimao, well deserving for the title. Super apir!
Salamat sa pagbisita ng aming probinsia kolas ❤❤❤

Challenge to all Ilocanos: Make this vlog with over 500,000 views.
100 percent pilipino kulas wooohhh....🎉🎉🎉
Nice!
Growing up, we always say “ bari-bari apo” (like “tabi-tabi po” in Bisaya)when passing by a new place, visiting a place that we’ve never been, especially in the mountains or even near those ant-hills, we call “bunton “ in Ilokano.
Love your videos and showing ph at it’s best beautiful
I’m watching a lot of Philippines vids. The fact that I might go there later this year got me in the mood. But the Philippines is interesting none the less.
i highly recommend to u the northernmost of Philippines especially the Palaui Island and Batanes (the switzerland) of the Philippines,, hope u can visit my home town Isabela where the Cagayan river is connected in the longest river in the Philippines, nice people living there! and the language is ilocano too,

Making my mouth water 🤤watching you all eat those delicious dishes. Yum!! 😋
08:21 typical in Ilocos to hear Ilocano songs around the province. that's why i enjoy visiting Vigan. ....back to the distant past. my first trip to Vigan... At the break of dawn my school mate woke me up as our bus approached the old Quirino Bridge, looking eerie and attractive under the purplish heaven while the radio in the bus played softly the only Ilocano song i knew, Pamulinawen. How much more Ilocano experience can one get!
Hey Kulas, Thank you for sharing this beautiful Content. I really miss Philippines especially my beautiful province Ilocos Norte.
Thanks for being part of the day 😊💪
Hi hello ldol Kulas from Ruatoria Gisborne New Zealand
so nice to see the Ilocano Culture.. watching from Toronto.. Thanks much @BecomingFilipino
i hope the new generation could appreciate the filipino heritage
Yeah
Omg I thought his bakla but when his talk his voice like 100 percent so nice 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 hello sir
Hello kulas how are you! thanks for sharing that place in ilocos norte 😅
Northern part of the philippines needs more exposure, there are so many places that hasnt been expose like quirino province, aurora, nueva ecija etc...
When you mentioned about the migratory birds in Paoay Lake, I remembered reading about the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines holding an event by the lake from the archives of their monthly newsletter that they posted on their site, making the area around the lake a good place for birdwatching. That Dinardaraan looks really interesting and appetizing, as well as the Ilocano version of Empanada. Might look up some recipes online to try and cook them, since I am always open to learning some new recipes and I want to try and experience for myself how they taste and what makes their taste unique compared to the other regional versions of those foods.
This made me SMILE! Starting my day with good vibes, nice to hear ilocano songs.
Ilocano here, now living in the beautiful Hawaiian Islands! Thank you for visiting my hometown of Ilocos Norte, Brother Kulas!
I really miss my Province so much 🥺❤️ See you very very soon🫶
There is a mythology on the lake the lake was a place that flooded when god punished the people.
Same in Bohol that there is a mythology of Chocolate Hills that the giants cried and it got flooded and it became chocolate hills ⛰⛰⛰
And in Ilocos they had those historical ruins were the Spaniards dumped there goods.
Same in Albay in Cagsawa Ruins were the church was built by Spaniards and when Mount Mayon erupted the ash lava destroyed the church 🌋➡⛪
And in Paoay they had those Camachile.
My mom bought those fruit a couple decades ago when they had there trip in Ilocos.
In Ilocos they made those clothes and the guy did it since the pandemic hit 3 years ago.
And the 98 year old lady still doing her job on making those clothes.
A primitive way of making clothes where they used woods to sew it.
And they had those empanada that looked like kwek-x2 that it is dark orange 🥟🥟🥟
And they filled the empanada with a sunny side up egg 🥟🥚🍳
And they had an alarm that looked like an air raid siren which it is not an air raid sired it was an alarm that empanada is ready or for having empanada bwahahahahahahahaha 🚨➡🥟
And as a Canadian you did not expect to eat those dried squids and dried fishes because they stink 🐟🐠🦑
And you told your Canadian fellows that don't mix a soy sauce and a ketchup on empanada bwahahahahaha 🥟🍶🍅🥫🚫
You just put ketchup on your empanada or dip your empanada in soy sauce bwahahahahahahahaha 🥟🍶🍅🥫
And you rode those jeeps near the beach like in Dubai were the cars are running on the desert 🚙➡🏝🏖⛱➡🚙🏜
And you put a festival on the end to show your Canadian fellows.
Just wow! I would like to express my so much appreciation to you for featuring again our beloved Province of Ilocos Norte ❤❤❤❤. Thank you very much Becoming a Filipino (Kulas) for this special video. I couldn't be prouder as one Ilokano here ❤❤❤❤

Tabi tabi po in ilokano we say 'KAYO KAYO'

I'm curious what the origin of the name of the town of "Currimao" is. In Bisaya "kurimaw" means "beast" or "giant monster", a cognate of Tagalog "halimaw".
monster din ibig sabihin nyan saming mga ilocano
@@WorldwideTopTier Thanks :)
Love Kamarinn. It’s got modern ilocano dishes like Michelin. 😉💕
Thank You Kulas for visiting my hometown...Now I really miss when I saw the empanada....
Kulas how was the rubbing elbows and driving same cool aid with the Marcoses?
Hopefully he was not offered powder.
Enjoyed watching the performance and informative tourist places 👌 ❤️
Dad is from Sta. Maria Ilocos Sur. I remember during Holy Week, we will spend a week there. The ancestral house behind Nuestra Señora dela Asunción church more known as Sta. Maria Church. Sabado de Gloria is at Suso beach. The rest of the time we were at the farm- getting mangoes, watching the carabao go around in circles as it juice the sugar cane, making balikutsa, playing in the tobacco field and more. In a few years we plan to retire back home and pay homage to our parents Ilocano and Cagayeño heritage.😊
Thanks for showcasing Ilocos Norte and Tan-ok , Kulas . Agyaman kami unay .
We were at batac 3 times last week and we heard that siren / call to “eat empanada” 😂
