My husband re-discovered this recently and went into raptures of a concert tour when Chris supported Lindisfarne and introduced this song to his repertoire. The story goes that my old man - and his friends at the time - followed the concert from Nottingham to Newcastle and couldn't stay away. This particular song was so powerful but never got the recognition it truly deserved at the time. Our Alexa robot plays this every morning and evening with my husband almost in tears.

@@MsKatie574 I was Chris Rea's biggest fan in the 80's. I come from Chris's hometown of Middlesbrough and seen him at every opportunity, even got a signed poster backstage at Redcar Bowl in 82 I think it was (Still have it to this day somewhere). Used to get every album on the day of release, I think Auberge was the turning point for me and the following album "God's great banana skin" sealed the deal for me and Ive never listened to anything after and including that. There is still a good enough selection from the 1st 10 albums to satisfy my needs though.
@@thepixalator6758 , that’s amazing! Chris is very popular here in Ireland, with his Irish roots... I think he has played in NI several times over the years. Unfortunately, I’ve never seen him in concert. I have listened to some of his more recent music. I guess he is much more authentic blues these days. I still love his voice. He seems like a really decent and humble bloke who didn’t get caught up in the rock star persona. He’s been through the mill health-wise too. I think my favourite album is “Shamrock Diaries”.. 😀That said, like you I love all his 70’s and 80’s music.... The ‘83 Rockpalast concert video on this is top notch... 🙂👍🏻
