Dude you are a hero. This is EXACTLY the info I needed.
Hell yeah! Glad you found it helpful!
Interesting... I bought a slide case package two weeks ago... Kinda sad cause my equipment with dragonshield inners is not fitting that good. And i dont like the tighter gamegenic inners, they bend my cards and i am not sure if it leads to card dmg
Yeah I get the same sort of bending with the ultra pros. These Japanese ones are a real contender!
nice, was looking for that
Awesome! Glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
thank you for yeeting the Japanese case, for science
Of course. Always willing to yeet for science.
Whats a good case for just carrying 6 to 9 of those japanese cases tho? I just want a separate case that can carry those.
The Sidekick would be good!
You sound extra Canadian in this video😅 Great video thank you!
Do I now? Maybe I am extra Canadian. Lol
Kinda expensive imo if I wanna put in 50 cards that’s around 200bux compared to 10bux I d have to pay for 50 top loaders or am I missing something
I d love to have these cuz they look super clean but just too expensive for me I guess
They are comparable in price to the ultra pro mini snaps, about $1 per, but only if you’re buying in bulk. I agree, likely not worth the shipping costs unless you have a group that wants to buy a decent amount.
@@zenstatefab for me on Amazon one is around 4-5€
@@zenstatefab for me on Amazon one is around 4-5€
50 top loaders are 10€
Great versus match up! I love my UltraPro Mini Snaps :) I'm not impressed with the Gamegenic. Most seem to slide open too easy, and that odd "line" is annoying. The Japanese snaps look great. Being thinner plus fitting a double sleeved card are big selling points.
Agreed! We are likely putting a bulk order in here as a community.
One touch magnetic is better for collection right?
They seem good. Never had any personally. They’re just bulky, but if it’s for storage or display then they’d be great! I like the magnetic closure for sure
@@zenstatefab IMO it's more sturdy, it's like 100% protection. mini snap is not closure and thinner, its look break easily.
Sorry for my bad english
@@edwinawesome1374 that makes sense. My review is more for players who need to transport several pieces for their decks. Definitely go with something more sturdy for collection / display
Have you noticed the Japanese mini snaps bulging a bit when double-sleeving in them? I'm using them for leaders for Star Wars: Unlimited and I find that a KMC perfect inner and a gamegenic clear sleeve the Japanese mini snap closes but has a visible bulge and the bottom part of the case is visibly protruding a bit from the larger upper. I've been using them with the cards just in a gamegenic clear sleeve and the bulge is gone but the card can still shift in the case under force. Is this a case where the bulge is not something to worry about for the condition of the card and its best to just double sleeve in the mini snap?
Weird. This isn’t something I’ve observed. I know it’s a tight fit, but not to the point of bulging. I found one of my cards fit weird, but I think I had one of the sides upside down. I don’t imagine this is your issue. Maybe Star Wars cards are a thicker card stock? Sorry you’re having trouble with these cases.
@@zenstatefab Thanks for the response! I looked up relative card thickness and Star Wars is actually slightly thinner than FAB so I just gave it a go again and made sure to work any trapped air out and now they all fit snuggly with no bulge! I was just careless before, I didn't think a little trapped air would make such a difference with these.
Ended up with the gamegenics because availability of snaps in AUS aren't the best... With a card+inner in them, i have the opposite problem of not being able to get them open again!
Besides that only minor grievances (mould lines and random blemishes) but still worth the money if youre strapped for choice
Oh wow! Maybe they lock better over time? Or maybe I wasn't setting them correctly. Glad they are working out for you!
glad you have some of these jp cases to try because I hadn't heard about them until recently and they're not available domestically
personally not a fan of the gamegenics either, they're super loose and don't feel secure
Absolutely! Thanks for watching. They are honestly a very strong option.
I bought a box of gamegenic cases on amazon and 11/12 in the box were hard to open/reopen (which is nice because it feels locked and secure). Was happy about those and found out my LGS had them for sale too so i bought a box there. All 12 cases were super loose and easy to open and was highly disappointed. Quality control not consistent
Thanks for sharing. I’m glad to hear that some lock up better, but that’s super unfortunate that you don’t know what you’re gonna get. I got the impression that those I tried were all quite loose.
Hi, thanks for the video! Do you know if those TCG japanese cases would fit in a Gamegenic Sidekick 100+? I'm asking because all of the Gamegenic boxes you show that don't fit the cases store cards vertically, while the Ultimate Guard Sidewinder stores cards horizontally, so I was wondering if the Sidekick would also be a valid option.
I don’t know for sure, but I would assume so. Im pretty sure we have locals that use the sidekick with these hard cases.
Thank you so much! I have been looking for more information on these kinds of sleeves!
Great! Thanks for watching!
Very cool to watching you do something new with great information, always looking for more card protection and storage solutions. Would love to hear your deeper thoughts about deck boxers and what to buy and basically where to start for protecting decks and collections of cards. And as a side note, loved the yeet test.
Ha! Thanks, gotta yeet that mf. I'll think about deck box review, but honestly hard to compete with prof which has awesome thoughts on all types. Love the academic!
@@zenstatefab Very true, the Professor comes hard with knowledge, but still always enjoy hearing your thoughts.
Crazy question
Any chance you have some of the Japanese snap cases designed for Japanese size cards and can see if a standard sized card would fit in them, since these are designed to fit regular sleeves, not just perfect fit
All I have are the ones shown in the video. Not quite sure how Japanese size differs from standard. Sorry!
thanks so much for sharing the japanese mini snaps, I got them to protect my leader cards for one piece tcg a few days ago and I found them so much better than ultrapro minisnaps. the friction mechanism for the ultrapros isnt great, there were several times where the ultrapro lids would just fall off on me while playing whereas i can't imagine that happening with the clasp on the japanese mini snaps
Awesome! Glad they’re working for you. I have a bunch now too for my equipment in fab. They work beautifully with the academic deck box.
I need to get my hands on those Japanese versions!
Yes! I was really impressed with them
These are amazing for One piece leaders.
These fit great in boulders.
Awesome! Glad to hear!
Thanks for this, wasn't sure if F&B cards are the same size as OP. Do you know if the Boulders are the same width as the Ultimate Guard Flip&Tray?
@@kingtillery_collects I'm not sure.
But they are ultimate guard boulders so they might share similar measurements.
@@kingtillery_collects yeah, not sure. The bastions are the only hard plastic boxes I have that work with the ultra pro snap cases. I don’t expect any would work with the Japanese mini snaps.
sad that the japanese ones dont fit the bastion 100+ XL :( was really happy with the review until I got to that part haha
Definitely. The deck box is unfortunately going to be a limiting factor for most of us. Thankfully the bastions play nice with mini snaps, which are still great
What deck box do you use for keeping them? I've been curious what boxes fit these well!
Do I have a video for you! It's this one!
Someone from Japan sent me one of the Japanese ones and I almost bought the ultra pros thinking it’s the same thing. Thank you for this informative video. Gonna put my cards in these since I like to sometimes look at my cards and I don’t have to worry about the plastic in the binder to stretch when taking them out when I see them. I can just put them in deck boxes.
Oh course! Thanks for watching! One thing to note is that the plastic will scratch over time, especially if you’re transporting them, or taking them out often. This is true for any plastic case though so they are still great options
@@zenstatefab I know. I’m super careful with my cards though. I think this is a good alternative to binders.
For sure! Makes sense
Does anyone get any issues with the Ultra Pro mini-snaps bending cards? My LGS in NZ stopped selling them as players were reporting this happening to their cards (and I tried one of mine to see and the snaps did not sit flat so I took it out immediately)
Oh wow! I’ve never heard of that issue. I have a few cards that I’ve had in mini snaps for well over a year and I don’t think I’ve had any bending issues, but I’ll have to pull them out and double check.
@@zenstatefab I hope that you don't have the same issues! I've bought them from two separate LGS' here and both batches of them have had the bending problem
Super strange. Yeah no issues. I pulled mine out today to transfer a bunch into the Japanese mini snaps. No curling issues but the slim japanese cases are still nice!
@@zenstatefab I might have to have a look into those! I wonder if anyone in NZ sells them... pre-ordered 2 of the Academic deck boxes so it's good to know they will fit :)
