I'm sorry Russ, but I laughed out loud when you said, "Chinese Johnny Cash." Have fun during the ride along Lake Michigan. Hope the weather is good then for you.
Hi, Russ. It was 88degress here when I headed out at 1pm. Fortunately there was a breeze and some clouds once in awhile. I rode for an hour and listened to your video. At one point, I wasn’t sure where the dog barking in the distance was, on the video or in real life? Yeah, I have been wondering, where is the Deer Mini. But I figured it will show up eventually. Also, as soon as we get back from camping next week (without cell or wi-fi) I plan to order a wide saddle and see if that helps my rides. My bum gets numb and I have to take breaks. Glad the keyboard playing is going well. Nice to have a change of pace sometimes. Update, I actually used your link to buy a wide seat YLG seat. I will let you know how I like it.
TEMU is just excellent, as long as you research it well(as I do everything) you will pay about 1/3 to 1/2 the price of regular places like Amazon. I have outfit my bike with around $600 worth of stuff for around $150-200. Best bargain stuff is sub $30 stuff. My daughter works at Amazon and she said they have seen a real hit to the amount of packages since TEMU came on the scene, Prime Days are seeing far less volume of packages than normal.
I had a fellow youtuber reach out to me asking about unlocking his battery we both own Fabulous ebikes . So I did a little video showing how sometimes it can be tricky especially if you're not use to ebikes and he is a new owner.
Morning Russ! I agree, putting some of these ebikes on the bike rack can be a struggle. I have the Radrover 5 with pretty much the same setup as you. I have been picking it up and placing on the hollywood rack for for a few years now. I can lift it, but it's heavy enough that I'm sure just a twist in the wrong direction will result in a pulled muscle (growing older isn't easy haha). I just started using a different technique by grabbing the rear brake and popping the front wheel in the air and placing that on first then lifting the rear. I find it so much easier to load the bike that way. No sure if you tried that or not. Thanks for the great videos.
Hey Russ, I think the HiPEAK will have enough range for your son in-law based on your 21 miles on one battery with another back up battery. I too have many black "polo" shirts. Being Asian as well, you are definitely the exclusive dressed in all black "Chinese Johnny Cash." Keep looking cool Russ👍
Imho..i feel that eye shielding and dual mirrors are Way more important than helmets.. as is safe riding ... i personally wear a helmet for "legal" reasons, had one accident and hurt my neck.. it happened on a grass lawn when i stopped and lost balance. That said.. If i was on pavement and same thing happened.. I would rather have sore neck than asphalt or concrete in my skull, i also wear one of those yellow safety vests and ride with lights on even during the day Visibility is paramount ... btw we need more Food and Supply depots along the trails.... made for path travellers~ i have a Surface604 Rook .. 48v 14.5 ah batt. still dont know how far i can get on it.. I have had too many flats and other mech issues.. to head out on such a journey until i find a suitable tool kit for it. ....enjoyed the ride with ya Russ.. Thanks...
It only takes one head injury to ruin your life. My 12 year old got hurt when a 15mph ebike's front tire came loose while he was riding and when he flew off the bike he hit his helmet. The top of the helmet just collapsed in. If he hadn't been wearing it, that would have been his skull. He was fine. Wear the darn thing. It only takes one mistake. That being said, it sounds like you're doing a great job staying safe. I only had my kids wearing them for "legal" reasons at first too, but I learned.
Hi Russ. Looking to purchase a bike rack for a 1.25” hitch. Can’t lift full bike so a model with tire rack is what I’m looking for. 2 bike rack that can handle 150lbs. What have you come across?
Hey Russ i heard you mention that you 3D print a thumb throttle to fit on to a twist throttle. by any chance can i get that file? i 3D print as a hobby, and that would save me time if i have the file. thanks
@@RussIsRight thank you and sorry, i did not see that you placed it in links. BTW if you would like anything changed on that, like thicker casing or a bigger thumb trigger, give me a shout. been doing 3D design for over 2 years now as a hobby. But this saves me a lot of time with having the basic design to work with. Thanks again
Good question. I wondered about that as well. In some states, U Turns are totally acceptable. When we lived in California, everyone does U Turns. It's the norm there. Here in Chicago, not so much. But I don't think anything stops you from doing it unless a sign is in place that says No U Turns. But I'm always wondering about U Turns here since it doesn't happen as much as it does in California.
Morning, Russ, I only been riding a month, I watch yours how's. Like you I have problems with legs.my right knee needs to be replaced . But because of my left leg. Iam a bk amputee . Stopping can problem .I rode motorcycle for 55 yr. I miss being on bike. Have you ever tried extra wide pedals. For me different between night day.much easier to find pedal. After Stopping. Might. Want talk to listen about. Gregg. Sorry Tobe long-winded
The biggest issues I find with a weakened leg or knee is stopping. Since I ride with a decent leg extension on my pedal stroke, I cannot simply stop and stay seated on my bike. I have no choice but to hop off it otherwise it would tip over with me on it. But if I lean towards the weakened leg, the weight of my bike and myself can be enough to have me fall over... well, at least it did right after my knee replacement was still trying to get better (two years and it was still bad). Today, I don't have this problem as my leg and knee are a lot stronger now. I just usually tell people to be aware that the bikes are really heavy and the holding the bike up along with keeping yourself up can be difficult. Be careful out there!

I AM the Chinese Johnny Cash! 😊

I order from Temu alot. never really been too let down so far anyhow.
Just placed my first order (bell+) with Temu and anxious to see the quality and speed of shipping. Thanks for the tip, Russ!
@@mddoane Just placed another order myself for just a bunch of odds and end lol. its almost addicting its so cheap.
Lmfao when ya mentioned the gloves .. i got 3 pair and constantly loosing and finding them.. same with my riding "glasses",
Hahahaha!

Agreed. I usually hold the rear brake and move one wheel up at a time.

It is my daughter’s coworker, my son-in-law won’t be attending.

Yes, that would be nice. It's like riding an etrike! :)

Most I have seen are for 2” hitches. Sorry! Maybe someone else can suggest something.
What kind of seat did you upgrade to? The cloud foam one??
I left the saddle on this one.
Anyone know what cells Hipeak uses for the battery. Are they UL rated?

Ok I got a Question forgive me iam from Canada lol .but is the U turn the SUV did at the intersection legal?

I have not.
If you go on pedal assist 5, would you get around 30 miles before the battery dies??
I seriously doubt it. The higher the pedal assist, the lower the range typically.
@@RussIsRight when you used throttle only in this video you got about 21 miles,
if you instead had used pedal assist 5, wouldn’t you be able to get more than 21 miles??
@detectiveben1 Yes, if you pedal, you would likely get more range in general.
Hi Russ....any chance you can give out you printed throttle....many thanks Your the Best

Communities are spending fortunes building bike paths to get bikes away from cars and you are convincing people to ride the streets!😮
Sometimes streets are the only way to get to where you want to go. Can’t be afraid and not go places.
