- The number of town hall bosses receiving more than £100,000 in 2022-23 stood at 3,106. It comes as core spending power for local authorities measured in real terms per person was revealed to have exceeded 2015-16 levels in the latest financial year. But with 59 councils failing to provide accounts, the real number could be as high as 3,637.
The number of council staff receiving over £150,000 hit a record high of 829, while for the first time, the number receiving over £200,000 has been specifically revealed, with 175 receiving this remuneration.
The prime minister had a salary entitlement of £164,951 in 2022-23. 188 council employees had a higher salary than this, with 557 receiving total remuneration in excess of this.

Ludicrous salaries for failure
reward for failure its the new? UK way
Council Tax needs to be reassessed. It is outdated and unfair! It wasn't implemented correctly in many areas by the rushed decisions to abandon the Poll Tax. My area has many rediculous inconsistencies of property banding!
Every year it increases by 5%+ and the gap between bands gets wider making the many banding errors even worse!
there is an old saying if you don't want to work, make a good salary and excellent pension have a job for life without accountability join a council.
councils have always promoted untalented idiots from within to the top of the tree, their wages and perks are obscene especially when they are constantly complaining of needing more public cash. they are not supplying essential services, they never look at there staffing numbers and wages and pensions, even when they fail completely they are not held to account, councilors are supposed to do this but they are also living well off expenses and perks.;
Pensions???
I think Nurses get about a employer contribution of 14% into their pension and Teachers get 24% not sure about councils but its going to be in that area i would imagine.. Private sector gets 3%?
@@rickh7553 Yes, and all you ever hear from Unionised public sector is bitching about wages, which in many cases exceeds those in private sector.
@@yiabwstetienne7474 Very true I was talking to someone last week who had retired last year at age 54 he worked for National Rail...
Massive responsibility???? They dont get held to account for anything!!!
That's the main reason why council tax has increased to pay for pensions and pay-rises.
Each council needs an independent regulator and cost management analyst specialist that looks at where the money is being spent because nobody in the council should be earning over £100k unless the results they produce are justifiable for that income.
Reason why money gets wasted is because it's invested in schemes and no real analysis has been undertaken fully.
When you have to manage Costs and it's your own money you'll always find away to do things for 25% of the cost that others are being charged 100% for.
Take for example an IT system you wouldn't pay a premium each month for services you would hire a specialiat inhouse to build a website and have a 3 staff who deal with security and upgrades of the site and when the site is built that specialist who built the site would no longer be needed.
You wouldn't have people doing nothing and getting paid for sitting there.
So..infinity pay awards to go with infinity migrants ? I am sure thats been working well.
oh...wait....evidently and clearly not.
Just noticed this?
Urgghhhhhhhhh cap means they take more kickbacks and more corruption such a low brow conversation.
More kickbacks and corruption?
Yes. But then they can be sacked or in prison.
At least in theory.
But as no one in positions of power seems accountable for anything these days, especially with independant quangos, I guess it makes little difference.
Bcp up to no good ..
