    I really like to do my drecko range close to the flux o matic. You can go with Balm Lily, not really care for temperature and just change to Glossys as soon as those ranges are full. When you have ~200-300t of plastic just turn the building off and you will get more reed fiber.

    I think it's theoretically possible to increase your wild divergents population by using the flux-o-matic. Sweetles reproduce faster than grubgrubs but grubgrubs live longer such that normally each can only lay one egg per lifetime, but if a divergent starts its life as sweetle and then ends it as a grubgrub, then in theory it should be able to lay 2 eggs. This would allow you to grubgrub rub a farm of any size without needing to feed your grubgrubs.
    edit: To elaborate, normally wild sweetles reproduce when they are 50 cycles old. If you upgrade them to grubgrubs at that point, the new grubgrub should lay a second egg 90 cycles later, leaving a 10 cycles margin of error before the grubgrubs die from old age. I'm not sure whether the reproduction meter carries through when the critter get upgraded, but I'm assuming it is for the sake of argument. If the reproduction meter does carry through, then the margin of error is much larger: they will eventually lay a second egg if upgraded to grubgrub any time after 45 cycles old. All math assumes critters are never crammed.

      The point is to have creatures morphs without having to follow any requirement

    I use my flux-o-matic as an evolution chamber. I fill the right side with water and ship all eggs to the flooded portion, and the left side is where I drop off all my excess critters. And if I ever need to use it as intended I open a series of doors under the liquid mesh tiles to drain the water and close them in sequence to push the water back up.

    So sems the most interesing thing here is that it work with no dupe labor, so you could send critters in here in a automated way. For example for delects voles and grubgrubs.

    As always, thanks for your video!
    Yeah, that's the simpliest building type, but that's not bad at all. To be honest, I used it more often than others in my base(s).

    You can turn pokeshells into oakshell to get the ethanol before the space travel on maps without forest biom

    I remember using a bug on those. You could flicker some automation to make it redo the animation and duplicate the storage of the building. I tried to speedrun carnivore with this but killing all the critter in one go would crash the game.

  • @wdymftw
    @wdymftw 2 місяці тому +2

    Why would I want to speed up getting a Stone Hatch? They patched it ages ago that it only drops 50% of the mass it consumes as coal while the Sage gives 100%. Is it because of the metal or because of their diet?

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  2 місяці тому +1

      Stone hatches are the only way to make smooth hatches, so you could speed that up. Otherwise yes it's the diet that differentiates them from sage hatches. Stone hatches eat igneous rock, which can be made renewably.

    I wanted to use this early game to get smooth hatches without wasting metal ores on stone hatches, but it doesn't even let you do that. What a disappointing machine.

    Oakshells incoming. This is how I start gathering oak send the into the flux and the start making ethanol to stor them in I'm taking 2 tiles of ethanol in a 3 tile open wild farm

    • @MrKalidascopeEyes
      @MrKalidascopeEyes 2 місяці тому +1

      After you have 2 tiles of ethanol you start having them lay oakeggs and now they are free power

    If you want lumber on your asteroid (for ethanol, perhaps) and it cannot spawn with a forest biome (and so no arbor trees), would turning a pokeshell into an oakshell with this be a good idea? Since I don't think it will be possible to get lumber any other way on these asteroids (tera, for instance)

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  Місяць тому +1

      I'm not convinced by that idea, only because you would then need to feed th3 oakshell. Usually they are fed from polluted dirt made in the ethanol distiller from lumber production (from arbor trees!). I suppose you could feed them slime, but that's difficult to make renewably.

    what is the best starting asteroid for max critter fun?

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  2 місяці тому

      In the spaced out DLC it doesn't really matter since you will find all the critters across the starmap. In the base game, it is very difficult to get pips if you don't choose a forest start, so I would consider that if you want them. But generally it doesn't really matter where you start, in terms of critter diversity.

    Does the flux-o-matic work on babies? A baby grubgrub, for example, gives the same calories as an adult when 'evolved' for example.

  • @SuperCaitball
    @SuperCaitball 2 місяці тому +1

    I still don't see the point (for base game, I guess). By the time I have the capability of capturing and scanning five different creatures, I would have already had both glossy dreckos and stone hatches produced.

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  2 місяці тому

      I think it depends how quickly you explore, finding 5 different types can be done very quickly by digging into different biomes.
