There’s an easy way to know which keywords you can rank for quickly, by understanding your site's traffic tier, and optimizing for keywords within that tier.
Find out what your tier is:
1. Look at the traffic your sites received for the last 30 days.
2. Now look for your low traffic day, and your high traffic day.
3. That range is your natural tier.
Now that you’ve determined your site's traffic tier, you’ll need to find which keywords correlate to it, that you can quickly rank for.
To do this, take your site's traffic tier and match that with the keywords monthly search volume.
As an example, if your site is consistently getting around 500 visitors per day, then your current traffic tier is level 500, but to be safe, it’s best to work one tier below your current one, when you’re first starting out.
Knowing that, you can look for keywords that have a monthly search volume of 200-500 searches or below, and then optimize your current pages or build new ones for those keywords.
Once your tier goes up, you can quickly rank for a whole new set of keywords belonging to that tier, and then repeat this process all over again.
