Thank you for your message. It is probable that we won't see all of the estate restored in our life time. Perhaps this is not important. It is enough to save what we can, knowing that if we had not embarked on this project within a few years it would have been too late. We are thrilled that you are taking joy in the authenticity of what we are doing under the leadership of Monsieur Didier. For us, it has never been about a pathway to personal profit - instead for us the focus is on saving something of rare beauty, respecting heritage and sharing the journey with others who share our passion.

I know you feel lucky to have found Purnon; I think she is also lucky that you are the ones who became her custodians! It does seem like all the workers you've found have also come to love the chateau--a community built around shared love of a marvelous building and shared concern that she get the best care. It's a marvelous thing.
In so many ways, the chateau is the French equivalent to the discovery of King Tut's tomb. Every room holds treasures hidden away from view until now, be it architecture or period furniture. As Howard Carter said upon peering into Tut's tomb and being asked what he saw, he replied, "Wonderful things!" This is Chateau de Purnon.
Each week I am overwhelmed by the condition Purnon was in when you found her. The staircase and billiard table brought tears to my eyes but with the amazing research and knowledge of Mr. Didier, she is being brought back to her former beauty. I am in awe of the young artisans who are tirelessly involved in the work being accomplished. Thank you, as always, for allowing us on your journey of this most important restoration.

I am a 3D artist and have some weeks of free time till my next contract begins on October 1st, so I started looking for references for a "just for fun" private project when my previous contract ended a few days ago. I decided to create something historic, not knowing yet if it will be just one single object or maybe an historic building. So I was watching a few videos of historic buildings 4 days ago, and your video tour from July 7th showed in my recommendations almost instantly. I was hooked from the start and have already watched around 20 of your videos (and will watch them all in the coming weeks and months, that's for sure.) Yes, I was kind of binge watching, and the videos I already watched, all of them I watched twice. The first watch/pass just to enjoy and admire your commitment and passion for this beautiful château, 2nd pass with the eye of an artist, stopping the videos often and looking at items, thinking of how I would create something similar in my 3D software. Seeing this beautiful attic space and the billiard table, I instantly had an image in my mind how the space might have looked back then and hopefully will look again some time in the future. Of course I would never try to "copy" something, and this is your property, but I decided to do a similar space with an old billiard table as my private project, letting Château de Purnon inspire me. I’m loving these videos. I’d love to see a video where you talk over a map of Pernon. I know you’ve also done so much research into the history of many rooms too and likely have amazing plans for all the rooms too!
Being a listed building, for much of it they have to and have to use their choice of certain specialties. They cannot just renovate willy nilly on this one. It creates a lot of hiccups/headaches, but they are amazing for pushing through such challenges.
I am, as always, in complete awe of the architect, engineers and artisans. They show us that the seemingly impossible is indeed....possible. Absolutely amazing!

Wow! I Just recently discovered your channel an subscribed. Each find builds a small glimpse into the whole, each piece brings colour and life to the Chateau. Once again I am grateful that you have managed to gather such an extraordinary team.
Fascinating! I knew about using horse hair and wool fibers in the plaster render, but I didn’t know about human hair. I love it when I learn something new! Great episode.

I love and respect all of these wonderful impressive artisans that have been working on the Chateau including the owners Tim and Felicity! It is a true artform to accomplish all of these tasks from the roof to the plumbing etc.. Your attention to the details is wonderful. What a wonderful job you have all done! So impressive! 😃❤
What I admire about your project is that you are really restoring (with the help of the heritage conservation authority) and not just putting plasterboard in front of the walls. You do your research, you don't throw anything away but everything is kept and as much as possible is brought back to life. The quality of your work reminds me of Notre Dame!

No matter the extra expense of the architect his expertise has made the project so much more authentic and fascinating. And if I might venture a guess having the pool table probably secured some extra financing. Bravo to you two and your extraordinary craftsman.

Thank you for your message. You're quite correct - we are certain that the engagement of our architect has transformed our project. With a heritage listed building such as Chateau de Purnon it is a requirement that we use a suitably qualified heritage architect. However, Monsieur Frederic Didier has added immeasurably to our journey. Thank you also for acknowledging the extraordinary skills of our craftsmen - without them saving Chateau de Purnon would be impossible.

Wow !! What a wonderful discovery that Billiard table. An item that surely deserves restauration in future and perhaps ought to become a Museum piece. A question did arise, climbing up to the Billiard room, I saw the walls of the staircase, which were decorated with Fleur de Lis, not surprising since the builder was a Royalist, and I wondered, were the painted onto the wall, or are those walls decorated with Wallpaper too?

It is really amazing the history that is being uncovered in the chateau. I knew about the various fibers used in the rough render that is placed on first, but never heard of human hair being used. As the layers are pealed back, the finds are amazing. I enjoy each new discovery and the explanation of how the chateau was built, the techniques that were used. More importantly the research that is being done to replicate the original materials and methods. Thank you for such detailed information. from Saskatchewan, Canada

This is such a wonderful video. The engineering of the staircase reconstruction was fascinating-there are so many exceptionally talented people working on your project. Watching the men rebuild the walls with the rocks and mortar was so impressive, too. The use of human hair is another way the restoration is so authentic. The billiard table will be a work of art and yet another valuable treasure. I absolutely love your channel.

brilliant as ever...I'm utterly thrilled with the billiard table and the lighting structure- that is just a top notch find- and to have spied one of the original sconces for the lighting structure- yes Msr Didier reaffirms why he is worth his weight in platinum on this project! The stairwell- an entire video could go into that or more- that is an utterly immense undertaking... The human hair- I do entirely get- nothing went to waste- and whilst it is not the most common solution- the tensility of it probably achieved the needs that they knew such a complex roof and ceiling line required. Bless the wise words: save everything and loose nothing because it all contains a clue. Purnon is blessed the two of you were the ones that came along, indeed. all the best :) Karen /Reading

We hope so. As the roof restoration continues, the section of the chateau that is truly watertight expands. This is the key step in being able to advance serious work inside the chateau.
You guys are great in ways I did not see until they appeared! ❤ A video or two ago, you discussed the escape of one of the ancestors, and that sent me in the direction of Napoleon's ascendence. As I was looking at Napoleon's stint at the top, and the politics as the 1790s revolution evolved, I stumbled across the 1848 revolutions!!! (My elementary education didn't include that at all! Wow! ) The De la Haye (spelling?) family was certainly having a long run of, well, ... what timing! What an amazing time machine you have there! My dad was the professor, but it looks to me like you've got maybe a unique angle into that span of history. "How the lesser nobility adapted to changing socioeconomic realities..." I'm under the impression that most history is written from the point of view of those who commissioned the writer. In your case, I am getting the impression of a more first hand account, as they rode the wild thing down. Truly educational! (IMHO:-) Keep going! I think you're adding a lot more than the restoration itself!

Wonderful! We're thrilled you enjoyed this episode.
I am, as always, in complete awe of the architect, engineers and artisans. They show us that the seemingly impossible is indeed....possible. Absolutely amazing!
Can’t wait too see this room get restored, with that billiard table taking pride of place 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
We feel the same way. We look forward to sharing the next steps with everyone.
How yall do not have a half million subscribers I have no idea!! LOVE THIS CHANNEL!

Thanks for your message.
This is absolutely riveting! I love your amazing undertaking.
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled you're enjoying each episode.
The central dome would make an AMAZING art studio!!!
Neither of us are artists requiring a studio. We hope it will make an amazing space to return the restored billiard table that is one of the oldest in France.
Wow! I Just recently discovered your channel an subscribed. As a restorer for archeological objects in Germany I SO appreciate that you do this restoration like you do it: involve experts and take your time doing it the "right" way . By this you have allready saved sooo much knowlege about the chateau and startest stop the decay of the chateau.
I'm impressed of your vision despite the enormous dimensions and costs of this projekt. I wish you all the best an thank you for sharing this projekt!! ❤
Thank you for your message and welcome to our channel. We're thrilled you are enjoying every detail of our adventure.
Each find builds a small glimpse into the whole, each piece brings colour and life to the Chateau. Once again I am grateful that you have managed to gather such an extraordinary team.
Your message exactly encapsulates our adventure.
I'm available to write promotional material, ;-)
You wish to join the extraordinary team!!?? Noted...
Hahahaha, I'd love to but it would be a bit of a commute from Calgary! Have a wonderful day/evening.
Fascinating! I knew about using horse hair and wool fibers in the plaster render, but I didn’t know about human hair. I love it when I learn something new! Great episode.
Thank you for your message. A fascinating discovery for us too. We're thrilled that so many people share our joy in the details of this journey.
I was hoping you covered how you acquired enough hair, and you did! such an amazing discovery, much better than asbestos! my favorite UA-cam channel
Thank you! We're thrilled you're enjoying each detail in our journey to save Chateau de Purnon.
Thank you! What a wonderful message!
The weight on the floors must be incredible with all that dirt insulation and brick flooring. The restoration is just amazing.
Thank you! We're thrilled you're enjoying our journey.
What I admire about your project is that you are really restoring (with the help of the heritage conservation authority) and not just putting plasterboard in front of the walls. You do your research, you don't throw anything away but everything is kept and as much as possible is brought back to life. The quality of your work reminds me of Notre Dame!
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled you're following our journey and appreciating the commitment to heritage restoration and preservation.
What an incredible discovery and what a history this beautiful billiard table has had. I love the way each piece of furniture reveals itself and in doing so breathes another piece of life into this fabulous restoration.
Thanks for your message - we're thrilled you enjoyed this episode.
I have watched with anticipation and awe each one of your offerings! The music you choose, the narration you provide, the pace of vlog and the editing involved make for such a welcomed and educational experience that leaves me with gratitude for all of your efforts and all the people involved with this huge project! Thank you all so very much.
Thank you for your wonderful message. It brings us happiness to know that people from around the world are deriving such joy from our journey to save this place of rare beauty.
I love billiards so this is definitely one of the highlight discoveries you have made in my eyes. It’s great to think of the original owners enjoying the game in this space with their friends.
Thanks for your message. We're thrilled that your own love of billiards added meaning to this episode.
This restoration is miraculous. History is mesmerizing in thought. Thank you owners. Thank you experts in your field.
Thanks for your message - we're thrilled you're enjoying our journey.
What an absolutely incredible find! Just seeing the old corners, with their dusty old green felt, and the tacks used, brought on the chills! Another amazing vlog, ty!
Thanks for your message. Thrilled you enjoyed seeing the reassembled skeleton of the original billiard table.
So lovely that you found and are able to reassemble the original billiard table and room.
Thank you for following the first steps in this transformation.
It’s going to be a beautiful room. How interesting that you keep finding these wonderful items that tell the story of this magnificent house. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your journey 😊

I feel so privileged to be able to watch this journey that you are on with this remarkable and magnificent chateau. Your passion, care and respect for this beautiful building is a joy to behold. I thank you for sharing this journey with us.
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled that people from across the globe are following our adventure.
Being in faraway Perth WA, I so look forward to watching how you're awakening your "old lady". It's just such an amazing journey for you, thank you for sharing it with us
It is our pleasure. We are thrilled that people from across the globe are sharing our adventure and taking joy from the journey.
You call it an incredible project I call it a miracle. The history you discover absolutely amazing. I find it interesting that people dismantled history. With the help of historians the two of you piece history together again.❤
We're thrilled to share our discoveries as we uncover them piece by piece. Thanks for your message.
What a treasure you have!! Please reproduce and use that gorgeous fleur-de-lis wallpaper!!!! My love is historic architecture and your home is a restoration dream come true! To be able to talk to the craftsmen and your architect must be a true pleasure. It’s wonderful that you’re keeping as close to its origins as possible. I look forward to every episode!
Thanks for your message. Just to clarify, to flour-de-lils pattern alongside the staircase is a stencil pattern not a wallpaper. We're thrilled that you're following our journey.
Looks like a stamp or stencil , not wallpaper
I can’t stop watching this. It is like a magical portal into the past. A giant fantastic piece of art. Oh to live in that fantastic place! Wow.
We're thrilled you're enjoying our journey. Thanks for your message.
I love the complete respect you show for your precious Chateau. It gets more exciting each episode. You certainly picked a fabulous Architect & team. Bravo to you guys. I love every minute of it all.

I love the things you have found. They are amazing. I love antiques.
What you are finding they are quit wonderful. It may be a while before the billiard table will be brought back, but I'm probably as anxious as you are to see it in all of its glory. It will be exciting. ❤
We look forward to keeping you updated as we progress the various elements of our restoration, including the Billiard Table.
Thank you ⚘️
It is so fascinating to see that chateaus across France have such similar decor. The walls leading to your top room ,have the same fleur de leys pattern as they have just repainted in the chapel at chateau Lalande 🤗
I’m compelled to ask- the music, who is it please? Soothing music perfect for the occasion. The views from the drone and the music together just calms me The discoveries-intriguing and enticing. Thank you for all that you do, have done already and will do- I’m so grateful I came across your channel ❤. Best wishes for a great week ahead 😊
Felicity and Tim your are the most amazing caretakers to have taken on the care of this grand lady ..
You have the most incredible talented team that works alongside you both ..
The walk up the staircase is breathtaking to see the beautiful designs on the walls as they are the same as in many chapels across France …
The overall design ,Re-creation and architecture of this great building is overwhelmingly inspiring and just beautiful …
Thank you for sharing her with us
❤❤❤️❤️
Thank you for your wonderful message - we're thrilled you're taking joy in our journey.
Did anyone catch the bat that flew through the frame at 20:15?
You have certainly made history with your dedication and hard work during this restoration. The old lady is now 250 years old and is being saved thanks to your efforts. Felicity and Tim will be spoken of with great respect and honor for a long time to come.
Soooo many steps up to the billiard room! Those people must have been in excellent physical shape. (Especially the servants!)
Another fascinating video!
Side note: if you two ever are in need of extra income, you should do the recordings for audio books! I absolute love hearing both of you speak. Your voices are so comforting.
We're thrilled you enjoyed this episode. Thanks for the suggestion - that's very kind.
To see the trades showcase their work is exciting
They are fabulous. We couldn't restore Chateau de Purnon without them.
What a place. I love these old structures and the struggle to bring life and meaningful use back to them. Wonderful history and stories to be told. Love that your showing it all.

It is a mesmerizing project the restauration of Château de Purnon, it is a real dedication from you both. Thank you for your dedication in whatsoever you undertake (together with " les Architectes de France)
Thanks for your message. We're thrilled you're following our journey. Thank you for acknowledging the extraordinary work undertaken by our architect, Monsieur Frederic Didier. Without him and our artisans, saving Chateau de Purnon would be impossible.
Such a wonderful journey of discovery, on so many levels (literally). I'm also really enjoying the music you're using. I'm not sure if it's a generic part of your editing app. But at 17:45 it's especially lovely. Like Nyman meets Morricone.
And yes, M. Didier is a gem.
Thanks for your message - we're thrilled you're enjoying the music and our journey.
The restoration you’ve taken on is truly amazing!!!
We're thrilled you enjoyed this episode.
Your place will be absolutely beautiful! Thank goodness you are in charge of that beauty! Well done

Thanks for your message - we're thrilled that you're following our journey.
Goose bump drone work!!!! So perfect one is unaware of the drone and remain consumed by view! Like watching a newborn baby’s crowning entering the world! Chilling!! Thank you!!!
What an amazing find. The billiard table seems to be in fairly good condition. I hope you can restore it one day. The chateau really does hold all the secrets. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for your message. We're thrilled you enjoyed this episode.
Wonderful end to a busy day watching your video😊.
Such soothing music that draws you into the chateau’s beauty & history. Thank you
We're thrilled you enjoyed this episode!
Magnifique et passionnante de vidéo❤
Merci beaucoup pour votre message.
How i adore old things! This chateau just takes it to the highest limit. Finding the billiard table and discovering the original use if that room is so very fascinating! That view from the window, wow!
Are those the pool cues in the back ground towards the end of your video?
We're thrilled you enjoyed this video. Yes, they are - but we're not certain they are the original cue sticks as they are not quite the correct shape for that era. We're doing some further research.
So so interesting !! I love the explanations from artisans and the architect and the research to find the exact methods used at the time, seemingly lost to time. But you are finding those with your teams and the architect. It’s a fascinating process and thank you for sharing it. The billiard table is a remarkable rare find. Congratulations.
Thank you! We're thrilled you found this episode fascinating.
Thank you for your message. You're quite correct about the motif. They were applied by stencil.
We just Love how you present the show , watching it over and over gives me so much to look at not just at a clance but feel like I am right there all the way from South Africa.😍
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled that you're following our adventure from the southern hemisphere!

We're thrilled you enjoyed this episode.
What an incredibly beautiful room this will be! You really understand how to place one surprise after another. It seems the restoration of the staircase and the billiard room has been going on for a while, parallel to all the other projects. And now you share and let us enjoy the progress you already achieved. 🥰
I look forward to your updates on this beautiful lady. The love you have for this building is amazing. It's like watching history unfold before us. So relaxing and enjoyable. A Canadian fan.
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled you're following our journey from across the oceans.
Your doggie will be a master restorer, he listens with intent and you may ask him/her should you forget what is next or how to mix or maybe what color, ask your sweatheart, it so lovely watching him/her
You're quite right - she's an expert! And she knows where the camera is!
Breathtaking to consider the stories that table could tell…
Indeed! We often say here that Chateau de Purnon is whispering to us through the centuries and if we just lean in and listen we can hear her stories. Perhaps through these remarkable objects she is delicately whispering to us. Thanks for your message.
Thanks for your message. We're thrilled you're following our adventure from across the oceans and taking such joy from the fascinating discoveries.
Absolutely fascinating! Look forward to seeing the progress each week. The history is just so amazing. Everyone involved is just incredible.
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled you're following our journey!
Thank you! This journey that you are allowing us to be a part of is so fascinating! I've learned so much about history as well being so excited to see all that you are doing. Such incredible detail in all that's done. Again, thank you!
I look forward to seeing you and your architect play pool together on that table. Did you add a little of your own hair to the render?
I was touched deeply by this. Incredible beautiful history neglected.
Thank you - it's a sublime and elegant place.
We're thrilled you enjoyed this episode. Thanks for following our journey.
brilliant as ever...I'm utterly thrilled with the billiard table and the lighting structure- that is just a top notch find- and to have spied one of the original sconces for the lighting structure- yes Msr Didier reaffirms why he is worth his weight in platinum on this project!
Thanks Karen. We always appreciate your messages and the joy that you're taking in the details of our journey. Best wishes to you.
Bonjour Felicity and Tim, I absolutely love your team of artisans. When Matthieu discovered the human hair, and matching all the materials as they were, Frederic's well-rounded knowledge of almost everything it seems, you definitely picked the right Architect and team. I love learning every new secret, I love seeing every new treasure. This has been such a pleasure and learning curve watching the re-awakening of chateau de Purnon. So, thank you for sharing your journey with us as you slowly wake up this sleeping beauty. Love from N.Y.
Thanks for your message. We're thrilled that our journey to save this architectural gem is bringing you such joy. We're learning how important the small details are in achieving a wonderful final result.
WOW - superb historical facts, research and restoration in due course. Love it.
Thank you - thrilled you enjoyed this episode.
What’s not to love about living the actual discovery of history? It appears you are beginning to address more of the interior restoration. Can we expect to see more in the coming weeks/months?
We hope so. As the roof restoration continues, the section of the chateau that is truly watertight expands. This is the key step in being able to advance serious work inside the chateau.
Definitely top notch restoration happening all around. Such a fascinating episode!!
Thank you. We're thrilled you enjoyed it.
Absolutely outstanding. It's going to be so beautiful when it's done . Just out of curiosity who are the contractors??
You guys are great in ways I did not see until they appeared! ❤ A video or two ago, you discussed the escape of one of the ancestors, and that sent me in the direction of Napoleon's ascendence. As I was looking at Napoleon's stint at the top, and the politics as the 1790s revolution evolved, I stumbled across the 1848 revolutions!!! (My elementary education didn't include that at all! Wow! )
The De la Haye (spelling?) family was certainly having a long run of, well, ... what timing! What an amazing time machine you have there! My dad was the professor, but it looks to me like you've got maybe a unique angle into that span of history. "How the lesser nobility adapted to changing socioeconomic realities..."
I'm under the impression that most history is written from the point of view of those who commissioned the writer. In your case, I am getting the impression of a more first hand account, as they rode the wild thing down. Truly educational! (IMHO:-)
Keep going! I think you're adding a lot more than the restoration itself!
Thanks for your message and for your wonderful support of our project to save Chateau de Purnon. We're thrilled the historical elements of our journey are renewing your interest in French history. There is much to discover as we are learning every week. Best wishes to you!
An absolute labour of love❤❤❤ Thank you so much for letting us glimpse into it.
We're thrilled you're following our adventure.
What an amazing discovery. Thank goodness you were told not to throw anything away. Amazing to know how you are following the historical way of doing the rendering with human hair. Thank you for these videos. ❤
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled you're enjoying the little details.
Thank you for the wonderful watch. Always interesting. Always informative. Always en pointe.
❤
Thank you! We're thrilled you're enjoying every episode.
