You are the pro I wish to be! One thing I've done is take an old hdmi cable and cover it in heat resistant tape and insert that cable into the hdmi port. Makes it it easier to hold for removal and replacement.

I remember burning my first cd-rom and saying I bet everyone with a computer will be doing this soon. My goodness, theyre obsolete in many areas already; as are DVDs. Region Locks just peaked peoples interest I guess. I recall lifting; removing, reading and re-writing 2x 48pin SM Atmel chips to put in my home made adapter for SM to DIL PIN CHIP Programmer, then reading and extracting that "Magic Number" from certain "Viewing Boxes" with disabled smart cards. Atmels were dodgy as they had 48 feet/pads per chip and you had to remove them and refit em perfectly. Not much was really known about err codes unless you did your own Trial and Error on purpose. Damn you BGA chips :-) I still recall powering them on after a refit. Is it is it is it is it...It is working...... Thats when real Flux pens worked way better than they do now. And were like £5 for 3 of the good ones.

Since you are working in the repair bussiness, my question to you is this: Which console was the most reliable and had the least amount of problems? To me is the Wii followed by the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360... you know something like that. My PS2's had problems but I always managed to get them fixed without any specialist tools. I am also an experienced electronics enthusiast. I wanted to get a PS4 for this Christmas but seeing your videos, scared the crap out of me, This Console is barely 2 years old and already has the most problems a console could have. I'm getting an Xbox 360 E and call it a day, lol

It's flux paste. It aids tinning and wetting of solder joints - basically it helps the solder to flow easier and helps create a better quality solder joint. It's essential for an easier repair experience and a better quality job.

i haven’t done any of this yet, but, when i connected my headset i didn’t hear sound from that, would that still mean i’d have to do everything in this video in order to fix it?

+David Perez It will work if you've got a pin which isn't giving continuity which is required. You may find some pins in your HDMI lead that don't read - these pins are 2 (ground), 5 (ground), 8, 11, 13 and 15 - this is normal. Any others and you may well have found your issue. Good luck!
+David Perez Your multimeter needs to go into continuity mode (the one which beeps when you touch the probes together). Plug in a HDMI lead and meter from the contact pins of the HDMI lead to the alternate pin-out points in my HDMI pin-out video. Check they all beep. If not, then you've an issue getting the data across the port and to the display. If they all beep then you need to check each pin of the port for continuity to ground. Ground pins in that video are pins 3, 9, 12, 15 and 18. Any others which read to ground are shorted and you need to troubleshoot that portion of the circuit. Good luck! :-)

+Danny Watt Yeah I'm really not sure what they were thinking to be honest - if they were going to really cheap out and not replace the port they could at least have tried a length of magnet wire to jump the pad lol! :-)
Doubt it to be honest - HDMI ports are intrinsically weak which is why they break just as readily in XBOX Ones etc. Any force on the plastic inner and it'll break / deform / lift pins etc. It doesn't help when these things are designed to be as powerful as possible at as low a price as possible - they have to economize somewhere to minimize the losses on the cost of hardware. Connectors are expensive on a bill of materials so a few pence saved on some cheaper ports etc will be happily taken up as they'll work fine for the most part, just don't expect them to be ultra durable.

Yes all pins must be soldered and no pins are allowed to touch each other.

I think you broke it... Search for BLOD on UA-cam (Blue light of Death)
