That’s a fantastic idea! Just gotta find the right color of leaves then basically just copy the build in the instructions. I might just do that myself

I’ve always been a fan of bonsai trees, so this set is definitely high on my list. Great little display piece, and I’m glad it won’t break the bank.
I love that they added the alternate builds in the back of the instructions. It feels like a nod to the old back-of-box builds of my childhood.
Great review! I think the brown "vines" might be meant to represent the wires you wrap around a bonsai to train its shape.
Interesting. I would have never thought of that because these are on the mature trunk and not the branches. Do they ever get left on permanently? I thought wrapped wires were only used on growing tissues. Correcting slowly developing deviations on heavily lignified tissues typically requires a significantly stronger technique.
Little suggestion for the treehouse: use the green leaves as the base and add the fall leaves. Except for one bag I used all leaf pieces. Gives it a lusher look and it feels more like indian summer (if you have some red leaf pieces use them too).
Agree completely with this review! Love this set. Was able to get the last one on the shelf at my local target yesterday (as well as some of the other new sets). I'm a huge fan of the new style of 18+ / display sets that they are coming out with. It's right up my alley, and shows LEGO how much of an adult market they have. So many positives from this.
What an elegant model. I’m quite surprised with the impressive creativity of those inspiration builds at the back of the instructions. Better than alternative builds imo
Finally found this set today at Target of all places! Everywhere, including the local lego store has been sold out of this one since basically the day it came out. SO excited to build this one and have it on my desk, and I'm already putting together a bricklink order to extend the trunk and to add more foliage as I see fit and so I can keep changing it up whenever I want. :)

Those suggestions in the back of the book are a really nice throwback to when they used to do similar stuff in the '99 star wars sets. Spent countless hours trying to figure out how those pictures were built as a kid

Honestly: I love this set and the whole theme and also the bouquet that was released as well. I studied agricultural sciences, so I am more into vegetables and fruit trees, but this gives me so many ideas to build similar plants, I can't wait until they release a whole tree or plant of some kind, maybe I will make my own tomatoe plant soon
Got this from my friends for birthday and it was my first build in years. Looks great and trunk is quite fun to assemble. Also, frogs.

This set is really cool, I really love the pebbles in the pot! And that’s a ton of pink frogs, I love it! I also really like that there’s ideas for customizing the tree included with the instructions, that’s one of the best things about Lego and I like that they’re emphasizing that with this set!

This is such a neat suprise from Lego. Reminds me of the glass flower bonsai trees. This can be a great display piece, even for none Lego collectors.

The brown vines are to copy a old bonsai with air roots shooting from top of tree to bottom of soil. I love the design and added blossoms.

These are great. Love lego doing decorative sets geared more towards adults. I opted for the flower bouquet as I have a real bonsai tree. Will probably be picking this up in the further though

I'm just thinking how this set would be great for making a variety of trees for any moc builds.
I believe the spiral vines on the side represent the metal wiring usually used to shape a bonsai tree.
I would buy this as a gift for my mom, then keep all the pink frogs!
