I love display pieces that encourage you to fiddle with them every once in a while instead of just being static objects you won't interact with. You'll look over to this on your table or shelf, walk over, and just swap some trees around. It's a short little relaxing distraction, and sometimes you need that.
Even though LEGO is always customizable, I am very pleased with the way that this set encourages builders to rearrange the various components to their liking. Another aspect of this set that I enjoy is that it can be appreciated from all angles. Many LEGO sets marketed to adults are meant to be viewed from certain vantage points, but this is good all the way around.
One of my favorite "system within the system" systems is with the 2008 clone wars sets, where the ATTE, AT OT, and Turbo Tank All had a similar enough handle to where the republic dropship could pick any of them up.
Easily the best set they’ve released this year for me so far. The cherry blossum trees are gorgeous and the water tiling was a surprisingly fun part of the build.
This is exactly why I watch Jang for my Lego reviews. None of his reviews are ever 2D. Awesome that he brought to light the fascinating features and added his own ideas as to what Lego could do for the future. Great review as always!
The extra exploration part you included at the end of this video was interesting - and I’m strongly on your side at the $89.99 price point. After getting the (highly recommended) bonsai tree set and being very happy with that one, I did see it go on sale (and available at many different store locations). Knowing that this new set has the configurable trees, I’m going to sit on this one for now but keep an eye on it, for sure. It looks great to me, but the retail price is pushing my peaceful state away a bit too much, if you catch my drift ;-)
My 2 thoughts after this- first, it is a LOT bigger than I thought from the images. Second, the modular aspect of the plants is very good and different orientations change the feel of the build so much!
I must say that your review style is tranquil, complimenting the feel of the set. I love your enthusiasm regarding the ability to arrange the set to your personal tastes. I just recently started building Lego and one of the things I love is "modding" the sets, however remedial my efforts are. It's all enjoyable! Thanks for a great review!
I like the way you do your reviews. The improvisation/nonscripted makes it somehow more honest. And since it's the way you like tondo videos, seems like winwin. This set is awesome. Fun to swap trees or even build own and insert them into set. I want to try to add Japanese Red Maple like trees into it instead of Sakura. With Himeji, this is a great month for fans of Japan :)
I love the way you talk, such a natural delivery. It's like having a friend over sharing about their new set. Your vids don't seem long to me, I don't skip ahead like sometimes do with other presenters.
Personally I prefer your longer format of video, it feels like you actually cover details that many many other UA-camrs leave out. On top of that, because of the depth you provide when explaining your opinions, while I don’t always agree, I can certainly understand your perspective and take that on board to advise whether I do or do not buy a set. It’s because of your longer videos and depth that comes with it which makes you my go-to for when I want to buy a set
Great review😊 This is a “must buy” for me. The Spring Lantern Festival set is a favourite as is the new Botanical Garden. Add plants, water and koi to a build and I’m very happy.
The adjustable plants also mean that if you want to make some custom trees and other accessories, it's very easy to swap them in, and hopefully people can design individual plants to have as alternate options
This is a good ‘Office’ set that will stay there and accumulate dust, but if you want this in your LEGO City it might be better to just grab the trees and the plants
in germany we have an electronics/media chain that also sells lego called saturn, they had it on discount for 85€ instead of 105€ at day one. couldnt resist, dont regret it
Really like this one despite the price. Thanks for showcasing the modular system. Simple customization outside a primary build is always a great selling point. Definitely would look great next to the Bonsai tree.
In your defense, Lego's prices the last few years have been pretty unreasonable as well, so an eye for an eye there! 😉 This set is a bit of a toss up for me, in that it's really beautiful and wouldn't be out of place with one's city layout of even just a display piece. Definitely expensive but not as outrageous as certain sets in this price range we've seen lately which have so little to them for how much they cost (looking at you Star Wars dioramas and the Marvels Hoopty!). I'm not hugely interested in this, as there's other sets that have my attention at the moment, but I'm more interested than I originally was. So I'm keeping my eye on it and how much it'll drop.
With this, Himeji castle, and the Great wave it's like a little Japanese invasion of adult Lego sets that bring a peaceful building experience and exposure to this unique culture😁
I'm new to your channel. You make great review vids but honestly, its the sound of your voice that's the most enjoyable. Its so soothing! Like a "Tranquil Garden" for my ears..
This set has a bit of a Ninjago feel, you know? A place where the Ninjago characters would go to relax? Anyway, I think it seems like a very zen build, I like how much there is nature in there, it's quite beautiful, and the fact that you can move the trees around is the cherry on top, very nice set in all.
The configurability is absolutely fantastic, I had no idea! Genius move that totally sold this set to me - beyond it being really pretty as well. Thank you for the video!
I can see excitement in your expression whilst talking about it..This set just works, I really don’t mind the balcony being small. The trees look great all together
it’s a lovely set, and great review 🌸 I was looking forward to this one! Definitely agree with you “Lego done right” it’s inspiring, a perfect base set with many possibilities. It makes me happy, wish I could have it. Thanks so much for sharing with us 🥰
Hello from Tokyo! I adore this set. I might make a special trip to Roppongi just to get this. I'm pretty sure that the smaller green tree that you like so much is a matsu, a Japanese pine.
A pieceful build. 😁 Pardon the pun. I love this set and loved this video. Always happy to hear your thoughts! Thank you so much for continuing to do these reviews!
I pulled my lego bonsaï out of its tray and turned it into a garden compatible tree, was very pleased with the result, especially in the pink configuration
I agree with you on price for this one Jang. It wasnt THAT long ago we had the Spring Lantern Festival set that had a similar size footprint, tons of minifigs, way more pieces, and retailed for $120.
Excellent review. I love the look of it but wasn't too keen on it being over €100 so I was gonna skip it, but my local shop currently has it for €89, which makes it all the more enticing. I'll have to seriously consider getting it.
It's such a beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful looking set. I love the water, koi, the diverse trees and plants. The teahouse looks great too. I wouldn't mind having this set. $110 seems steep for its size, though. I do hope it goes on sale.
Thanks for the explanation on your value assessment, Jang. Interesting to hear what you value it at, and then the compromise number versus Lego. Having seen the live build and your review, I'm definitely putting this on the wishlist. :D
Yes, please "talk from the hip". It's so much more artful, heartful, brainful, naturalful. I don't mind the erms and the ahms because that's how normal people talk. No scripts, please. You're good the way you are. Impromptu and spontaneous 👍👍
Saw this on display at the LEGO store today, and it really sold me on it. I was already very intrigued by the product photos but it was very impressive in person. I’ll definitely wait for a sale as it really does feel overpriced for what you get, but I’ll make sure to pick it up eventually!
You should start using mini-Jang whenever you need to use a minifig for an example in your videos. EDIT the modularity just made this thing a "maybe" to a "must have" for some reason for me!
This is the perfect set to sit on and wait for a sale. $110 seems high, but I would suspect a sale on it to happen at some point. Then I’ll snap it up. Thanks for the review!
I had to pay $180 for this because i live in Australia for some reason. But i don't regret it, it's such a nice display piece and fun to customise. Pretty interesting build process too.
I really love mine, it was very satisfying to build. My only gripe is that they didn't fully commit to being mining scale. In any case it doesn't stop me from posing ninja battles in the garden!
The ability to swap the location of the different plants won me over. Every now and then, you can slightly change the appearance of the set and keep it looking fresh.
As an owner of the 2021 CNY Spring Lantern Festival I can't help but draw comparisons, and think the Lantern Festival is vastly superior. I know you cannot compare 2021 and 2023 prices but that set was only £90, bigger, with minifigs. This feels like the 2023 Lego 'crazy prices' adult cash in. It is a nice set, but hard to shallow with any prior knowledge of what has gone before
Really think my oldest son will live this set as a stocking stuffer or birthday gift, one of his favorite sets is the Bonsai, and this seems to have a lot of common aesthetic with it... will definitely keep it on the radar for a discount - fortunately where I live even new sets can sometimes be had for up to 25% off.
I think it's a great alternative to the botanical sets and probably offers a better building experience as in my experience the botanical sets are quite repetitive in their builds.
I wonder how does Lego and its designers calculate/quantify how much can go into a set to fit a particular budget? It can't be only piece count, but the types of pieces, unique molds, colors, prints, etc...Do they have like a pricing table how much each of these elements cost? Or maybe a software that prices Lego designs lol? There's also the variation in pricing based on themes and their target markets..Architecture sets for instance, despite having smaller/fewer pieces, tend to be more expensive for what you would get in other themes for their respective price...
Man, i wish that Evergreentree had a cone and maybe even a skistick on top. Like this it looks cut off :( Good looking Set and very professional presentation.
It would have been nice if they had included just 5 more parts to make that open space you suggested. Green 1x2 brick, green 1x2 brick w/ 1 knob, 2x2 plate, 2x2 tile, and 1x1 stud. Surely they could have fit that in the budget. Despite that it is a nice set. I wish it were $10 cheaper. I think asking $90 is expecting a bit much from Lego in 2023. But Lego could have made this $100 and I would call that fair enough.
I paid about 91dollar for my set. Bought it from a trusted third party. I think its sad LEGO stores are so much more expensive. gonna be great fun to build :)
While i do think 75 would feel more worth it, I'm really ok with the $110 price point. Obviously, we all wish this stuff was cheaper, but i don't feel scammed having bought this set day 1. Also, i have the bonsai, orchid, and succulents; and looking at them next to this with their prices relative to this set's price, i feel like I paid a reasonable amount.
I love display pieces that encourage you to fiddle with them every once in a while instead of just being static objects you won't interact with. You'll look over to this on your table or shelf, walk over, and just swap some trees around. It's a short little relaxing distraction, and sometimes you need that.
Don’t ever change Jang. The way you talk naturally is why so many of us watch your content.
swapping around the trees has a very zen garden feel about it, which is very clever on the designer's part.
Even though LEGO is always customizable, I am very pleased with the way that this set encourages builders to rearrange the various components to their liking. Exactly my thoughts. Great set, wait for a good sale and then nab it
My 2 thoughts after this- first, it is a LOT bigger than I thought from the images. Second, the modular aspect of the plants is very good and different orientations change the feel of the build so much!

I really like the modular aspect, very cool idea! I hope to see this feature included more in other similar sets in the future.
Personally I prefer your longer format of video, it feels like you actually cover details that many many other UA-camrs leave out. Jang has total bob ross vibes as of this video. Breaks off tree branch “well thats okay”.
Great review😊 This is a “must buy” for me. The Spring Lantern Festival set is a favourite as is the new Botanical Garden. Add plants, water and koi to a build and I’m very happy.

This entire set could work in a park build
Are the "rice paper" panels on the teahouse translucent? Mounting a flickering LED tealight in the ceiling would add a really nice effect if so.
Opaque. Possibly thin enough to see some light come through if bright enough?
in germany we have an electronics/media chain that also sells lego called saturn, they had it on discount for 85€ instead of 105€ at day one. couldnt resist, dont regret it

Fantastic review, Jang. I really appreciate the level of insight and enthusiasm when you were talking about the customization feature of the modules.

I'm new to your channel. You make great review vids but honestly, its the sound of your voice that's the most enjoyable. Its so soothing! Like a "Tranquil Garden" for my ears..
What a great little set. I love the modular aspect of the trees. I hope Lego continues to do more of this. Great review. Thanks.
Beautiful lego set, love the bambo🎋. Thank you for reviewing this Jang
This set has a bit of a Ninjago feel, you know? A place where the Ninjago characters would go to relax? Just finished building the Tea House… I’m loving it 🍵
this is such a great set. enjoyable build, beautiful design, and easily reconfigurable! more like this, please, lego!
why don't they make technic bit pieces different colors?
Thank you Jang! I just started building this set & I'm loving it.
This looks so nice. I'm buying this for my brother for his birthday.
Thank you Jang for this awesome review! I can not wait to get this set for myself!
Great review! Also love the pink MG Barbatos
This set gives me some bonsai tree vibes. Its clearly meant to be customized but also be a visual appealing set.
I don't know if it's intentional, but you can put 2 minifigs sitting down after you remove the "house" and treat it as an open air tea lounge
Looking forward to building this set
Z Blob will fit nicely. Love this set. Thanks for the build and review.
I also dig Barbietos making a guest appearance. Keep up the good work!
Hello from Tokyo! I adore this set. I might make a special trip to Roppongi just to get this.
I'm pretty sure that the smaller green tree that you like so much is a matsu, a Japanese pine.

Always happy to hear your thoughts!
Thank you so much for continuing to do these reviews!
Looks amazing set awsome review
With your canadian conversion you must be in a border town as I am, always a good review , I like watching your reviews before buying
I pulled my lego bonsaï out of its tray and turned it into a garden compatible tree, was very pleased with the result, especially in the pink configuration
now to moc it with the tallneck

I'm going to change out the trees with the seasons. Can't wait to build some autumn maples.
Great review. Thank you, Jang. I’ll definitely be getting this one at some point.
Your videos really help me keep my peace in these stressful days 🤭
I was sold the second this was announced. But seeing that modularity just took that up even further. Great set.
Yes, please "talk from the hip". It's so much more artful, heartful, brainful, naturalful. I don't mind the erms and the ahms because that's how normal people talk. No scripts, please. You're good the way you are. Impromptu and spontaneous 👍👍

What a lovely looking set. And at a reasonable price? Very good! If I see this on any discount, even a small one, it's definitely a must buy for me.
Great build, very happy, bought a geisha to go with it:)
Looks very nice next to my bonsai with the Sakura leaves
You should start using mini-Jang whenever you need to use a minifig for an example in your videos.
EDIT the modularity just made this thing a "maybe" to a "must have" for some reason for me!
Can't wait to get this set, it's so pretty!
That's a great review, and a really cool t-shirt. How does this scale compared to the bonsai?
This is the perfect set to sit on and wait for a sale. $110 seems high, but I would suspect a sale on it to happen at some point. Then I’ll snap it up. Thanks for the review!
10:30 GUNDAAAMMMMMM 😂
This set is so beautiful, I would definitely like to pick it up, I think that adding in some samurai minifigures would make it look even better
I had to pay $180 for this because i live in Australia for some reason. But i don't regret it, it's such a nice display piece and fun to customise. Pretty interesting build process too.

Thank you for making your videos 😊
Thank you for this video! Its $90 at costco and am considering getting for my husband. Great review, thank you!
I really appreciate ur content. Thanks for doing what you do!!
Love this set, love your reviews more 😊
Is the baseplate size similar to that of the Bonsai Tree? Would it sit nicely next to that?
$110 way too much. lol $75-$80 max like Jang said LEGO is a LUXURY toy brand now.
This is an awesome set, it is peaceful
The reconfigurablity makes it so much better, systems in the system are great
Cheaper would be better
I think it's a great alternative to the botanical sets and probably offers a better building experience as in my experience the botanical sets are quite repetitive in their builds.

This set is stunning.
Man, i wish that Evergreentree had a cone and maybe even a skistick on top. Like this it looks cut off :(
Good looking Set and very professional presentation.
I wonder what the kid leg minifigures would look like? You know the shorter legs?
I think it fits Minifig very well.
This might be my next set. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It would have been nice if they had included just 5 more parts to make that open space you suggested. Green 1x2 brick, green 1x2 brick w/ 1 knob, 2x2 plate, 2x2 tile, and 1x1 stud. Surely they could have fit that in the budget.

Where’d you get the pink barbatos?
I don't have much to say here (set looked great!) but I enjoyed this one, Jang, your video review.
Who's that pink gundam on the side? I don't see it on your mecha channel.
I paid about 91dollar for my set. Bought it from a trusted third party. I think its sad LEGO stores are so much more expensive. gonna be great fun to build :)
How tall is this at its highest point. I have limited space abd would hate for it not to fit.
Beautiful piece.
I'd definitely buy this for how beautiful it is. But I don't have a proper space to put it.😅
Something to add to the ninjago sets part of the temple sets or festivals ones
The best thing to top the plug with would be a frog, conveniently left out of the set.
That is the most wholesome review. I seriously would like to have a long ASMR-version where you just calmly switch the variations around.
it already is on sale in Europe at 20% off,...I expect this to get even bigger sales, up to 40%...
beautiful set
