Love when stoner metal bands write thrashy songs.
The main riff to this starting at 1:00 is just badass or more the riff at 1:08 or so but this whole song is just thrashtastic!

That's what I always loved about the sword, they are always skirting that edge between doom metal and speed/heavy metal which is badass cause doom metal is typically know for it's slower tempo, they crossed that line it in warp riders but I still like that cd too :)

What genre (if any) would the first portion of this song fit into? Obviously it's not something produced in significant quantities in modern times, but I'm curious about the history of that type of sound-if it ever existed.

Is it just me or is this opening riff very similar to sand dance by the temples?
the tambourine hits sound very similar (and with similar rhythm) and the guitar tone is also very similar. the notes and rhythm of the guitar are rather different though.
