Mr. Ashworth, it's so good that you talk about such issues in linguistics and language, which most people perhaps overlook. Also, I think the term "Cultural Genocide" which had been frequently used by a Turkish professor plays a huge role in this issue. Some countries are trying to gain political advantage by replacing the official languages of other countries with their own using social manipulation and making these countries' education language their own language. I think such issues like this in linguistics are not spoken enough, I'm so grateful that you, sir make this type of content. I'm eagerly looking forward to more of your videos. Please keep going on!!! Love from Turkey 🙂
Such a great video! Thank you - As a first Generation American from a family originating in the Punjab Region. I am currently working on trying to understand the role of my ancestral language in the diasporic community of Sikhs from the Punjab Region. Videos like these are quite insightful, hope you will continue the great work.
you are great Evan! this channel is very useful! i'm becoming an English Teacher and I reccomended your videos to my classmates! greetings from Argentina!

hello MR.Evan, first thank u so much for this helpful content. Can u make a video explaining the concept of grammar in linguistics? I'll be very thankful for u , frrr .Again thank u so much.
Hello! In short, in Transformational Grammar, "deep structure" represents a hypothesized primary layer that, through generative grammar "rules", transforms into a "surface structure". For example, if I remember correctly, passive constructions such as "The ball was hit by John" (Generative linguists may call this utterance the "Surface Structure") emerge as the result of a rule/rules that transform the deep structure "John hit the ball", which uses the active voice. Anyhow, I know there are several videos on this topic on UA-cam, so I would encourage you to check those out.
Hi Evan, hope all is well. My friend wanted me to ask you about his quantom syntex signature meaning beneficiary signature. His name is Steve Smith Jr, no middle name. If you will, please give a example of his name. Thank you so much. P.S. Sorry to be off topic😊
Hello teacher! I hope you are doing well! So please, I'am confused in these three different sentences, so if you can help me to analyze these three sentences based on tree diagram, (phrase structure grammar) 1)Ali sent the letter which he had written in class to Rabat. 2) the boy's girlfriend had been dancing for two hours last saturday. 3) they are slicing the loaves of bread in the restaurant every day. I hope my message finds you well. I hope to answer my question and I know you are the best Thnak you in advance.
It may be difficult for most people (even those with linguistics training) to actually do something (in the way of language preservation or revitalization), but I think there are little things that people can do everyday to normalize linguistic diversity. For example, when traveling or speaking to people in a place where English is not the primary language used by people, I try to use the local language spoken there--even if it just a few words/stock phrases.
Unfortunately, I don't have any plans to tackle this topic in a video, but I see there are several videos on this topic on UA-cam. Apologies--best of luck!
1. Difference between sociolinguistics and sociopragmatics? 2. What is the difference between pragmatics and sociopragmatics? Please explain their difference with an example. How can I contact you? Facebook? Telegram? Please. Sociopragmatics is a new direction for us. How is it different from sociolinguistics? Scientific works are written under the name of sociopragmatics. But it is similar to sociolinguistics. Sociopragmatic work in world linguistics is different.
