I feel like Marine has many stories about getting into various troubles, because she didn't pick up "common-sense" knowledge that people are just expected to accumulate. I honestly don't know if my experience is the same, but I feel like half my childhood is hearing an adult tell me, "How can you possibly not know this?!"

Well she clearly wasn’t taught about how money actually works. This would be her starting point to accumulate those details.

Hearing about her mom always makes me sad. She have talked plenty about her father and sister from a recent perspective, but her mom's stories always involve her being a young kid. It seems pretty obvious what happened.

she once mentioned about whether or not her family father sister and her mother even able to make appearance in her stream, after pekora mama event, Marine said it's probably not possible to do so, so im just assume that her mother's a busy carrier woman or something.

Huh. My mom once gave me 3 moneys to buy something for myself (coins of 1 and 2). I didn’t buy anything because there wasn’t anything for exactly 1, 2 or 3 moneys, everything cost 1,99 etc. :c
Change is a difficult concept for children to understand.
Still, who the heck throws money away?! I would have just refused to take it.

If this happened in the Philippines, you can bet that poor kid is going to get *_strangled._*
Such were those awful, awful days...
Thankfully, parents are slowly learning that beating up your own kids just continues the cycle of abuse, so it doesn't happen as much anymore.

It's weird she would be asked to buy something before understanding the concept of money. But it is endearing.

  • @grimoirech
    @grimoirech 3 роки тому +36

    Well, kids are weird.
She could have asked the cashier or bring it back to ask her mom, but she just went "Huh? What's that? Don't care. In the bushes."
But I'm sure everyone can recall an example of their own odd behavior as a child.
I like to imagine her mom has the same belly laugh.

Kids definitely have weird impulses sometimes. My first time seeing a coin triggered my inner magpie and I wanted it cuz it looked cool and shiny. Couldn't care less about its actual value lol.

I like to think I was always pretty logical, at least by childrens' standards. If it was me I would probably have kept it and asked my parents what it was for. I wouldn't throw something away without good reason. But there are certainly a few moments that stick out.
I remember I once tried to taste a plastic snowflake (Christmas tree decoration) because that was a thing that you did with outdoor snow and I wanted to see how they were different. I also started to collect shiny copper coins because I felt like I needed a "hobby" and I wanted to create my own Mario ? box. (I still have it today, lol) Yeah I played too many games as a kid, was fun though.
I was often spoiled as a child but never received my own pocket money until I specifically asked for it. It was Gran Turismo that prompted me to ask for it since I liked the feeling of watching the number going up. I received £5 per week and eventually had over £100 stashed away. I distinctly remember my late grandma telling me I should have been a loan shark :p

When I was around 7 or 8 our family went on vacation. And I used to order fruit drinks at the hotel bar.
But like Marine I didn't understand the value of the foreign currency.
I knew about tipping, but not how much, just that my mom and dad used to leave some cash for the waiter.
So when the people at the bar handed back some of the money I just left it.
We where there for like two weeks.
Those were probably some very expensive drinks..
