Yeah some people buy sportbikes just for how they look, but they don't use or need the power, and ride them in ways the machine does not agree with. The torquey R7 is great, it looks pretty, the engine is less aggressive its still competition focused though for when you open it up. More forgiving of a bike, people should get those and the RS660 more often.
100% agree. Started on an Aprilia RSv4, rented an r6 for a few days and had more fun on that than my RSv4. It’s more nimble and you shit through more gears. You’re pretty much in 1st or 2nd all the time on a liter bike.
1000cc bikes are nice for freeway riding because you got extra power to pass cars quickly or get out of the way of someone. Plus youre not constanly in the higher RPM range.

Agreed. But the power of a 1000 can be a lot of fun to some. That’s the point of motorcycling in the first place. 600’s are often faster through the really twisty bits, though. No motorcycle is safe. Just practice and choose your battles (if any) wisely. Sorry for your loss.
This is a personal preference, like driving a sports car or muscle car. I've ridden everything from a 550 to a 1500. It really depends on where and how you ride. I don't ride highway so I prefer a middle weight, naked inline 4. A highway guy will need a 1200 to 1500 cc v-twin, or Goldwing. Don't cancel a class of motorcycles because you don't see it's use. We need as many choices as possible.

You don't even need a 600 for the street if the rationale is that most people can't get peak performance out of the liter bike. Most people won't get it out of the 600 either. Hell, most riders couldn't push a Ninja 250 to 100% on the street.
There is a more usual difference between those who ride a 600cc and 1000cc. In that the former are less inclined to make lame justifications as if the power is necessary. Rather they already know it's overkill. People on 1000cc however more typically have a certain ego about why it's required. As if the extra torque and power is necessary. All in all I don't judge what someone rides but when they start capping is when it starts getting ridiculous. Be so much easier if people were just honest about why they buy it and it doesn't have to be for practical reasons.
I’d love a comfy touring bike if I were to getting a motorcycle. They weigh over 800 lbs. A 2400cc pushrod V8 with an 8700 rpm redline would be pretty cool.
Don't need it, just want it that's what I feel bout 1000cc bikes. They're badass, but you can't get much fun outta them on the street without assuming way too much risk.
I think for city a 600 supersports is some of the most fun you can have while also pushing it a bit on the too much power, rev the shit out of it but you're not breaking the law by a LOT on first gear as well. Another option would be a bike with 70-90hp such as an MT07 a CB650R or stuff like the Triumph Trident and Mt09, great city bikes and great fun on highways, not lacking power but you can use a lot more gears and are easier to maneuver on.
You don't either. I race on track and none of us even want a 1000cc bike because it's pointless 999 out of 1000 times. Even 800 is uneccessary for city
I have a ZZR1200. That bike was built to hit the limiter. I’m still in top gear for normal riding because it’s more efficient and easier on the motor. Even at 50mph.

I started on a tuned modded zx10r. Its 200hp stock. Just because you have all the power doesnt mean you need to use it all the time. I have a fast car too so i have the chill you need. I do go fast but theres a time and place.
While I agree that we can’t use one to its potential, my 2021 cbr1000rr is not heavier than my 2006 cbr600rr was. It’s two pounds lighter. It also has the same amount of torque at 3,000 rpm that the 600 had at peak torque, making it WAY easier to ride on the street. I got mine new last august with zero miles, and because it was new, old stock, I got it for $15,000.

My daily rider is an R1 💀 I gave other bikes... such as YZFR-125 and ZX6R (both for Track use) and a Hyabusa (Non Turbo Project bike). The R1 feels more like a glorified scooter half the time just keep it in 1st gear, only time the R1 is any fun is on the motorway with adjustable numberplate 😅
Ride my CBR1000RR daily to work and back a half hr each way. Find I can cruise in a higher gear reducing fuel consumption, as well as less stress on the motor increasing longevity. But I agree, a 125 would do the exact same job 😅
I rode a 919 naked sport. It was fun but at the end of the day it was more fun to ride my old Nighthawk 750 fast as it wasn't made for it and took more skill. The maintenance cost on the 919 were crazy. A new rear tire every 1500-2000 miles, spark plugs, oil and filter every 8,000, constantly wearing out chains and sprockets... It is just as much fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike fast.
Yet another way to say "with great power, comes great responsibility". Nothing wrong with liter bikes if you know what you're doing and HIGHLY disciplined. Unfortunately too many see it as an ego booster.
I use to think this when I had an R6 but then I got my R1 and I’ve loved it for 8years. I use it to commute through city, long trips to other towns/countries and I barely do track days these days to be honest. Before I got it Every one said it would be to heavy, you won’t be able to filter, it’s not nimble in tight spaces, it’s to much for the streets. The last statement might be true but the others “ha” learn how to ride better and time with any bike you will work out how to best use it even if it’s not to its full potential of 180mph. Plus it feels great and is mad comfortable for my height. Safe riding yall

Cc isn’t always translating to hp. Sometimes you have like 900-1000cc with just 80hp-95hp. The benefit of it is that you have more torque in low ref and no torque pikes in high ref. Making the bike smoother to ride. It personal preference which one you like more. But other than I absolutely agree, more than 120hp is useless also in Germany
The reason why Royal Enfield is currently moving so many motorcycles is this very reason. The 650 cc 48 hp and 52 nm is capable enough to do 90 mph which is the maximum you could do legally in America and so many other countries(Germany is an exception), but for the most part a bike that can do 100mph without stressing too much is a Perfect motorcycle. In India even with ridiculous road network and development in current years 120kmph or 75mph is the most you can do legally even then people usually ride at 100kmph i.e 62mph for most of the long touring.
I take my FJR1300 on 1-2 week road trips, with all the kit I need to camp anywhere. Mountain roads, twisties in cottage country, coastal roads - sport-touring rocks! 1000cc+ is NOT pointless, especially being 6'1" and 230lbs. Except for Gixxers of course.

yup unless you are over 7-8 thousand rpm, the 600 has no grunt. so you are basically riding around in 2nd gear if you want access to the power you need to be able to get the hell out the way of some idiot who is about to smush you into the the concrete barricade that divides the highway! on my 1000? it doesn't really matter what gear I'm in i crank the throttle and I'm clear of "the smushing" and alive to ride some more!
GSXR 750 is perfect.
Got a 82 GS750. Awesome bike
I agree,had an 09 gixxer 750 it was a fun bike
Amen!
K7 750, wicked bike all around
Just got an 04 for the track
Yup learnt the hard way, as I have got older my bikes are smaller cc, ok tech has moved on somewhat but it comes down to usable power. My main ride for touring is now an aprilia Tuareg which is 80hp but it’s only 673 cc. The benefit is it’s so light I can negotiate much tougher trails
Bro the gixxer jokes get me every time 😂
specially since he's owned 4 or 6 of them so all he's doing is making fun of himself. in other words he's taken it in the rear lol

Sorry about your friend. I have lost a couple on 2 wheels too.
I'm glad someone said it. I ride 350s and 500s in Thailand. Used a 1,000cc and a 650cc v-strom and 850cc Boulevard in the States. Preferred the 650, lighter, more agile, plenty enough torque for getting off the line at stop lights and for overtaking, better gas mileage, cheaper price tag.
U explained it beautifully, looking to get my first bike and generally I like power but this video makes so much sense I'm no longer going to gloat over big bikes anymore
I’m still going buy my 1000cc bike 😂

I changed from 600cc to 1000cc like few months ago. Damn 1000cc feels like a rocket
Lol! I agree with you.. back in my days before Harley… I rode a Busa, but because I’m 6’2”, 250 lbs. I was not confortable in a 750 or less… my legs would cramp. Man I miss my Busa… great Vids BTW.
Love my 6f, 650 in 2 cyl. Loads of torque when needed, gets me there quick when I need it. This is my first season with a real bike sooo, wish me luck
Still on my way to get a zx 10❤
That's why I love my 350cc bike, it's easier to ride, easier to maintain, and because that's all I can afford
Thats the best kind of bike: the one you have and the one you can afford
Little 300s are solid and will make you the faster rider in the long run respect
I like my ninja 400 but compared to my 650 its smoother, comfortable, less vibration iusse normal (had to remove the horn on the 400), slightly heavy which to isnt a bad thing to me, might even be better at stoping with duel rotors. I bought my 650 this year new and already have 2500 miles on it. Just all round a great bike just sharing my opinion.
As a video once said "it’s better to have a high powered vehicle being under worked, then a low powered vehicle being over worked"
The saying said more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow !!!
nah , between a z1000 and a zx14r atm. for commuting duties and general riding , they are wonderful and turn any mundane task into a giggle. 10/10 can recommend.
I've have been saying the same thing for years... Over 45 years of riding experience. And, once I got humbled by 600's on my R1 I went down to a 600 to end up buying a sumo 450. Best most fun bike I've ever owned (rode). Wont ever ride anything bigger then that again.... No need too...
Wow 45 years of riding experience?? How old are you if you don't mind me asking ?
I also had a yamaha r1 but I think I'm going with the bmw f900r naked bike next.. it has about the same hp as 600cc super sport bikes like the r6 or the cbr 600rr

The R7 is great in all gears
Yeah some people buy sportbikes just for how they look, but they don't use or need the power, and ride them in ways the machine does not agree with.
The torquey R7 is great, it looks pretty, the engine is less aggressive its still competition focused though for when you open it up. More forgiving of a bike, people should get those and the RS660 more often.

100% agree. Started on an Aprilia RSv4, rented an r6 for a few days and had more fun on that than my RSv4. It’s more nimble and you shit through more gears. You’re pretty much in 1st or 2nd all the time on a liter bike.
"1000cc BaD" he says in front of the 1000cc in his driveway
1100 cc
Who better to tell you than someone with the experience of the exact subject the video is on?
1000cc bikes are nice for freeway riding because you got extra power to pass cars quickly or get out of the way of someone. Plus youre not constanly in the higher RPM range.
Lol 1000s are great but thats a bad argument in favor of them.. 600s have plenty to haul ass and get around anything. And theyre happy at high rpm so whats the problem with it

As someone who’s had an R6 and an R1, I promise you the R1 is much funner and cuts through highway wind much cleaner than a 600. To his point, the R1 did almost kill me in 2014 and haven’t rode since.
There has always been those that down talk the liter bike as unnecessary. But truth is once you learn to ride one and can actually ride one . There is no comparison to the enjoyment of having that power on tap .
Exactly, it gets pretty hot too especially on traffic. You don't need that much power to get to point a to point b
I’m glad someone said talk my friend out of a 1000cc in nyc which is pointless not only he’s inexperienced but there’s no need for it….
You really dont need a big machine in a city like NYC... _but_ if he is inexperienced or not it should be his decision, and his alone, how to waste his own money (if it's really his own money) and some modell's only exsist as 1000ccm bike's and looking hella smexy.

I even have one if my motorcycles licence plate's and stuff nor even from my own home country becouse the exoenses in my neighbouring country are for motorcycles more cheaper, that's a great thing when you live in the EU. ☆
We need as many choices as possible.
vital info aside, that transition and loop was flawless man 💯
I love my S1000RR and even though there are some advantages when picking a 600, I wouldn‘t want anything else than my 1000.
Maybe getting a 600 as a second bike though
Having a 600 track bike would be great, but downgrading to a 600 for street use would be an awful idea for me, after faulting a liter bike.
I rode my dad's 125cc bike when I was a kid (I still do)
But now I've rode my friends bikes who have 350, 500, 900cc motorcycles and now I'm planning to get one of mine becuz I learnt to ride every bike possible dirt bikes, sports bikes, Scramblers but I loved the Cruiser. So going for an Indian Scout or BMW R18. Wish me luck and some suggestions if you have 🤞😅
You don't even need a 600 for the street if the rationale is that most people can't get peak performance out of the liter bike.
@@ThermicLight agreed. The only thing that I'd get a liter bike for is that sweet R1 exhaust. Otherwise the power just isn't needed.
Totally agree the new 2024 Kawasaki z500 or ninja 500 is perfect plenty of power for the interstate and easy to maneuver
Speak for you self, this guy has skills.
Some truth in this for me. Too bad that power is addictive 😅

You don't either. I race on track and none of us even want a 1000cc bike because it's pointless 999 out of 1000 times. Even 800 is uneccessary for city

It also has the same amount of torque at 3,000 rpm that the 600 had at peak torque, making it WAY easier to ride on the street. No one ever? Nope, plenty of people unfortunately
Are you wrong about the point you're making, hell no. It's negligible and not a point worth making unless all you do is make U-turns
I don't know why so many people perpetuate that. Just a white lie for younger riders
I know, some are only 20 lbs different from their 600 counterparts.
More rotating mass, makes them less agile than 600cc bikes
Them gixxer jokes be hittin lol😂. Yea 1000cc is pretty pointless for the streets tbh.
My daily rider is an R1 💀 I gave other bikes... such as YZFR-125 and ZX6R (both for Track use) and a Hyabusa (Non Turbo Project bike).
The R1 feels more like a glorified scooter half the time just keep it in 1st gear, only time the R1 is any fun is on the motorway with adjustable numberplate 😅
its better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow, just feeling the slow bike trying to give its best is pure joy
Ride my CBR1000RR daily to work and back a half hr each way. Find I can cruise in a higher gear reducing fuel consumption, as well as less stress on the motor increasing longevity. But I agree, a 125 would do the exact same job 😅
Nahh, u and I both know a 125 ain’t gonna wake you up like that CBR does🤣🤣
I rode a 919 naked sport.
Kinda random but do you recommend any good entry level cameras for making footy in the garage?
Yet another way to say "with great power, comes great responsibility". Nothing wrong with liter bikes if you know what you're doing and HIGHLY disciplined. Unfortunately too many see it as an ego booster.
1000cc are easier to ride on the street because of the torque.
Maybe it’s heavy and a struggle for you because you are 4’11” 😂
My literbike only weighs 432 pounds. I’m also 5’5”, and don’t have a problem with it. The cbr has a really low seat height, at 32.7”.
With high heels...
Speed isn’t the problem. Inadequate riding, bad breaking and lack of practice are the problems.
And another advantage of 600cc bikes over litter bikes is
I can't afford neither
I had a Yamaha YZF-R1 (1000ccm) in the past and now i have a Honda CBR (600ccm) and if you really love bike's and know how to repair a bike a little and you dobt care about dent's or scratches...you can get some _fiiine_ bike's out of re-sell site's.

(And also my bike's never have any issues becouse i change the oil's often and stuff wich *a ton* of biker's just ignore and then they need to spend money becouse they where too lazy and cheap to change oilt every year or so, depend's on how often you ride)
You're blessed brother. Take care and ride safe always.
My first sport bike was an 06 CBR100RR, sold it years ago before 1 of 2 things happened. But now I'm older n a lil wiser I want to get an R1. But this is the first thing I have seen that has made me question it n look at an R6, makes sense!
How many CC would you guys recommend for a well balanced bike for speed and not heavy to maneuver?
Yooo the gixxer puns are crazy 😂😂😂😂
Got old CB750 and have no problem passing cars on freeway.Had SV650 and thought it was perfect power for city go stop traffic but the big became a beast after 7k RPM and why racers love them.Agree in general 1kcc bikes are overkill and why MT07 outsells MT10
He's right. None of you can ride it to it's potential.
i'll stick with my modified yamaha sr250T, basically a flatbed cargo cruiser with 120mm ammo cans that hold the 3" trailer lights and markers and still gets about 70mpg, only drawback is it's underpowered so a bit slow on steep hills
I went from a ZX12 to a CBR1000 to a ZX7 to a Ninja 300 and the 300 has been the one I've enjoyed the most.
Tripping. On the street is where you get this. Like you said, you’ll never get the max performance out of it, especially on the track where the limit is much higher. On the street you can at least have usable torque, something 600 SS aren’t known for
