I don't neccesarily like cheese, especially American. I used to eat everything with cheese, I was lactose intolerant. I stayed from cheese, except when it's on a burger. At Mickey Dees, I tell them not to put any cheese on there.
I have done it for leftovers. My younger sisters' mom bought a huge ham for Christmas, but a flu outbreak caused not many to show up. To not waste it, she was trying to serve ham everyday, but my much younger sisters were getting sick of it. I made a "main course" of ham and mac and cheese (homemade mac and cheese, not Kraft) with chunks of the ham in it. I served a salad on the side, so I technically made it a main course. In the US, a comfort food is generally a food that is tied to pleasant memories. The taste, the textures, the smells bring back pleasant memories of happier times. It could be as simple as a warm bowl of soup on a cold day bringing back memories of your mom feeding you warm soup on cold winter’s day. Sometimes it brings back memories of celebrations or get-togethers with family or loved ones long gone.
I feel sorry for (and get upset) when people in other countries think an American cheeseburger is a McDoanlds burger. They devoured them, and through a translator, said it was one of the best things they had ever eaten. (I swear the star spangled banner started playing when they said that ;). )
To be fair, burgers are no less healthy than a lot of other foods nobody cares about. They just like to give Americans crap. Burgers have veggies, breads, dairy, meat food groups. And the unhealthy part(the fat in the beef) is still there in lots of other foods other countries eat.

A whole piece of chicken or pork or a slice of beef (roast) and it is called a sandwich (even if served on a burger bun). For cheese-burgers and grilled cheese it is important to realize that Kraft Singles are NOT American cheese. You won't find the word cheese anywhere on the package as there is not enough milk solids to legally qualify as even cheese food. To get American cheese, one must go to the Deli counter and have them slice it off a block. Or get some of the billion pounds of government cheese stored in caves around the country. That stuff is great as it has been aged for years, best American cheese I ever had (Reagan gave my grandmother a five pound box).
You guys crack me up. Interesting perspective on some of these. I know some people who crave Mac & Cheese. Some like it more than others, but I don't remember ever hearing Mac & Cheese wants to make them hurl. LOL!!!!!! And I love anchovies on my pizza. But my taste buds have a wide tolerance range. Probably wider than most. In all fairness though, I have eaten some things during survival training that would probably make a lot of people hurl. Sure was good at the time. Doughnuts or apple pie with ice cream are my favorite comfort foods. Great reactions guys. - Hawk
I think you guys have it a bit wrong in your deduction of what a comfort food is. What you explained as a comfort food we likely would consider to be "indulgent". Comfort food is not a food you eat and then feel bad about eating afterward. Comfort food makes you feel content, nostalgic and peaceful inside. You should never feel sick or guilty after eating them.
I must not be an average eater here in the states, I would never eat 1,500 PBJ sandwiches in my life time…..I might have had 3 when I was a child. Yuck!
No, that's ridiculous. Comfort foods do not have to be unhealthy. Were talking about food and this guy is talking about vomit...way to go Brits! Nobody in America eats Mac and Cheese by itself...have you guys ever heard of a side dish? We're not eating whole plates of just Mac and Cheese for dinner, we eat a small portion of it on the side adjacent to the main dish, usually a meat dish. Hence, side dish. No spice, everything grey and boiled, I can see that the British culinary scene is really still in the Dark Ages! Doesn't like Pepperoni pizza but he likes Pineapple on his Pizza...OK! Very strange to see prudish behavior coupled with food, the one thing that most people around the world celebrate.
These guys are judging food without even trying it! What arrogance ! They are hobbled by their parochial little ignorance of a wider culinary tradition ! ("I COULD NEVER EAT AN OYSTER! TBEY ARE SO SLIMY ICKY LOOKING)

- Hawk
Lemon curd?🤮🤢 I’m with BP1…give me my mom’s fried chicken any day😋I do love some Dungeness Crab Legs and Old Bay steamed shrimp.
Baked mac and cheese is the best!
I thought for sure they were going to say British comfort food was beans on toast lol
That Mac and cheese looked wierd. Mac and cheee should have a crunchy top not so runny
Mac and Cheese is a side dish
I think you guys have it a bit wrong in your deduction of what a comfort food is. What you explained as a comfort food we likely would consider to be "indulgent". Comfort food is not a food you eat and then feel bad about eating afterward. Comfort food makes you feel content, nostalgic and peaceful inside. You should never feel sick or guilty after eating them.
If you have trouble with cheese you must be lactose intolerant
I must not be an average eater here in the states, I would never eat 1,500 PBJ sandwiches in my life time…..I might have had 3 when I was a child. Yuck!
pizza has melted cheese... vomit that
No, that's ridiculous.
Most of the these comfort foods I don't like.
I hate Wimpy... total garbage
These guys are judging food without even trying it! What arrogance ! They are hobbled by their parochial little ignorance of a wider culinary tradition ! ("I COULD NEVER EAT AN OYSTER! TBEY ARE SO SLIMY ICKY LOOKING)
Kraft Mac and cheese is crap
Boring dads
I enjoy your videos, but your food commentary will forever be shadowed by "we hate melted cheese" and "we love Hawaiian pizza."
Good old fast food. Ok. stop eating & start play.
