I hated asking customers to sign up for credit cards, that's harassing customers and should not be allowed in no retail. Low pay and not enough hours to pay rent.
Legit the worst, my fucking supervisors kept pestering me while I'm over here getting paid min wage doing a tough job they didn't train me for. Always coming up to me, legit saying "we don't ask the customers if they want to sign up for rewards, we just get them started and tell them to put info in." Being super fake smiley and passive aggressive. They would legit float around doing nothing but harassing their employees instead of actually contributing to the workload. I quit today mid shift because I was fed up and realized that I decide what to do with my time. At first I was gonna wait till the end of my shift because it might inconvenience the customers and that's not their fault but honestly fuck Kohl's that's the fault of their shitty system which milks their employees and customers dry. Walgreen's offered me a position with better hours, better pay, and I know it's gonna be way more chill than this fake ass passive aggressive bs. Sorry for the rant lol
I work there and my process was a lot faster and seemingly more put together. My orientation was with one other girl and they handed us our schedules for the next two weeks that day. The managers at our store are super nice and helpful, sucks to see that not all stores are like that because I love my job 😕
I worked at Kohl's for five years...I don't know how I lasted that long. I was constantly being called to every department to do stuff whether I worked it or not, and I'd get reprimanded for my fitting room not being caught up. I was called the wrong name constantly and told that I had to answer even if they got my name wrong. Customers were extremely degrading and rude at times when I couldn't answer their questions the way they wanted me to, and the management would expect me to just keep myself together and get over it. I also had one lady use my fitting room to change her baby's diaper and left it for me to take care of. I got so much anxiety from working there and I still have nightmares about it, despite quitting seven years ago. Sorry for the rant...lol
Kohls sucks. I worked there for 4 miserable years. The customers were degrading and the management wasn't much better. I can't believe it's the same expereince at most stores.
I was called Helen for the entire time I worked there. Yeah.. I'm not Helen. lol! I feel you, Kohls was the worst place I ever worked, I have anxiety just driving past the store still.
I would of politely told the customer that she has to dispose of it and there is a trash can in the ladies room. You don’t get paid to deal with dirty diapers. You aren’t working in a day care😱👶🤣
I’m late asf but I just started there, I was literally shown two buttons and then thrown on register had to learn the floor myself as well ugh I wanna quit already
Girl I can relate to this on a personal level. I am a current employee at Kohl's and am quitting Friday without a 2 week notice. They treat employees horribly and I've been a manager in retail and have worked for different stores/corporations. Such an awful experience...
+Julia Ferrier Thank you for sharing! It's good to know I'm not the only one. I'm sorry that is happening to you though. I'm working for Victoria's Secret now and I absolutely love it. It's like a breath of fresh air.
The rudeness aside, i will say that most retail jobs is like this. Your training is figuring stuff out. You learn the departments, where things are located and you organize (which helps you learn the product) ..its Retail.. if you shop, you already know 99% what to do.. organize, learn the product, help the customers. That being said... Ive been watching anti Kohls videos because I went shopping there for the first time the other day and I wont be back HA! I honestly cant think why intelligent people think they have good value on product.. its waaaaay over priced there. Your talking wal-mart brand quality stuff for 40% or more upsale. Youd do better shopping at sears or JCPenny or even Macy's. the mens department was a mess.. product all over the place without any rhyme or reason to it..and some products that I was looking for was not even priced. No price...I dont buy. Anyway good luck working at Victoria's Secret.. though I heard a lot of their stores are struggling too.
Working at Kohl's now as POS /customer service. Actually it's a good experience, we're just really understaffed. The people really make the job great or shitty.
Tbh when u want to work in retail, u most definitely will work during the holidays that's a given. No matter what your availability is they won't give it to you off unless the company itself is closed for that holiday. That's just the way it is. Good thing u found something instead. 👍🏻
+Ashley Nicole Honestly I would've been okay with working Thanksgiving if they would've told me sooner and hadn't treated me so poorly. Honestly it was just an all around awful job. I'm working at Victoria's Secret now and I love it! It all depends on management and the way they treat employees, in my opinion.
I have worked for half a dozen retailers. I enjoyed working for all but Stevens, (only because it was so ugly). Kohls I hated because they treat you like a child and potential enemy. A nightmare.
I worked at kohls too!! Oh my gosh worst time of my life. Everything you said was spot on... I got trained for shoes but of course I took care of everything by the shoes. I barely got trained for register too lol. They let me shadow a girl for 15 mins then just stuck me there ugh
I worked for Kohl's for almost 7 years. Most of what she says is true but from my personal experience, hours were pitiful. You could be scheduled 40 hours one week, 5 hours the next. There was zero consistency. My managers were good people but played favorites. All their friends got most of the hours and they would slack off and do nothing because a manager was their buddy. You get overworked and expected to do the work of 10 people because they can't pay for the place to be properly staffed. Basically they will use you and give you hours when they need you but they can't work with you when you want to pick up a few extra hours. I'd see some of the favorites working every day for long shifts but i could barely get scheduled when i was in need of more money. I got plenty of experience though and working retail and holidays sucked. Thank God i have a job now that i love and pays me well.
This is how it is at most Kohl's. Good store management and professionalism in a Kohl's store is very rare. I know from experience. I am glad you found something else.
@Penny58 this!! I worked there for a year and the floor was *always* overstocked and understaffed so everything was a MESS, if you took 2 hours in intimates they’d tell you you were taking too long but it was always completely trashed and badly in need of a deep cleaning! So many hangers (especially the flimsy ones in intimates) were broken and /at my location at least/ the floor was so dusty and dirty that we would all be sneezing and literally running to the bathroom to blow our noses! Especially if we were working in clearance
I’ve worked at a Kohl’s for almost a year now and I completely sympathize with being the only person on the floor. Every day i’m not scheduled as part of the closing team I am the only person working the floor, and I’ve never been trained in shoes, home, infants, girls, boys, or electronics. I don’t really have any issues with my managers though, they’re pretty nice.
I also worked at Kohls for a few weeks. $7.25, non negotiable seasonal pay. Stocked for a week, placed in an area I never stepped foot in in my life to help costumers for Black Friday. Later, although I was hired for stocking, they had me helping costumers in shoes. Quit with an email, no notice.
When I left one of my old jobs, they hired a new manager and i went there to shop and she was literally cursing at all of the employees in front of the customers. it was so unprofessional. My mom and I looked at each other like are you serious and we just left. that was crazy
Lmao everything she said was true. DO NOT WORK FOR KOHL'S. No consistency with hours. You can literally get either 5-8 hours a week during non holiday times. Jan- July u literally get maybe 2 or 3 days a week at best. I Worked overnight shifts. Which is more, but way more work. Which u would assume, but when your working a 3-4 man job by yourself for 8-10 hours, gets physically stressful. On too of incompetent managers and supervisors, terrible place.
My first day at kohls was Black Friday, no training, and I did fine I'm still working there 2 years I been doing amazing there , moral of the story a job is what you make of it not all jobs are perfect
1) Are you still at Kohl's now, Gerardo? 2) Some stores are worse than others. It can NOT be left entirely up to the person working there. There are sooooo many videos about bad Kohl's experiences.
If you're insinuating that I'm a poor worker, please bear in mind that I only share certain jobs and stories with UA-cam. I've had great jobs and currently have an awesome job that I love. Brick & mortar retail giants are dropping like flies and when they treat employees like trash, it's no wonder why.
I loved working at Kohls as well. I don't know if anyone is saying you are a poor worker but, even with my first job a lot of retail is common sense which you seem to have so I don't know why it was so confusing even without training. I agree you were poorly managed but, I think you're more capable and were frustrated with the situation so you didn't want to maybe try harder. I know people love drama and your views would take a hit if you did positive work experiences but, maybe adding a tidbit in a storytime would make you come across differently. I am new to your channel and you seem like a sweet girl but, as I watch more and more videos that are all about work issue I literally had the thought today, maybe it's her. I'm not saying it is I just often hear you say I'm not going to do that instead of what can I do to help. You come off a bit self centered. This video was a long time ago but, your recent ones have the same vibe and same issues. I would love to keep watching but, it's getting a bit of a new job same old story vibe.
Every Kohl’s is different, the one I work at is okay and the managers are nice. But you said things that were spot on. I felt like the “training” I had only lasted 10 minutes and then they just threw me on POS and I made a fool of myself. My last job was a dishwasher so retail was an improvement. I like my job at Kohl’s well enough but I relate to everything you brought up.
My experience at Kohls was good. It was my first job and I stayed there for a year before being offered a job at a hospital. I was trained for a week. Management was generally nice and understanding. They weren't strict for call ins or sick days. I asked to not work the register due to my anxiety and the store manager took me to the office and talked to me and basically told me it was completely fine and that it took him 5 years to be able to work a register for the same reason. All of my coworkers were very kind and helpful, there was never any drama whatsoever, we all got a $2 pay raise and plenty of hours for being part time. They never expected us to stay too late like during the holidays when we'd have alot of stuff left at the end of the night, we would work what we could with the help of management and then leave the rest on rails for the next day. Customers are a different story, i think for the most part they weren't too bad, but I do remember alot of older ladies being very rude but that's anywhere really.
I watched through this entire video and I'm surprised at how you managed to do this all within one take while being on topic and concise most of the time. I was hired on late September and stayed for the seasonal season (first week of January) and I didn't shadow anyone for training and jumped into it on my first official day of POS. I had nice managers that wanted to get everyone up to speed (even the newer hires in like mid-November) and the coworkers were helpful, so sorry this happened to you.
In worked at Kohl’s and accidentally got trained on register even though I was Operations. They gave me my second cashier shift.... on Black Friday for 12 hours. It was a nightmare. And don’t even get me started on their so-called sales. I hate that place.
One of my coworkers interviewed at Kohls and the manager literally kept him there for an hour and a half just talking and then told him they didn’t have any openings and to check back around Christmas. Kohl’s sucks.
Plus they'll scold u for making one mistake about something you've been doing for months with no complaints. In fact they can watch u do it all the time, then randomly complain about u doing it wrong..
I actually enjoy working at Kohl’s. The only thing if it isn’t the holidays you don’t get enough hours. But other than that my managers are all nice most of my co-workers are cool and the job is alright. The hiring and interview process was also a breeze.
I worked there for 2 months before I quit. My first retail experience too! I did my 2 trainings with no job shadowing & my first day they threw me on the register by myself. Smh. They had no sense of direction for new employees.
Wow they were gonna call you on your schedule? My orientation was on September and that same day they gave my group and I our schedules. My orientation was on a Thursday and I immediately began training the next day. Ouch I'd hate it so much to wait that long. That really sucks!
I work at Kohls, but it's not the stores. I work at the distribution center in Macon. Started as a warehouse associate, worked seasonal, now I'm working part time and soon to full time. I am in the shipping department, all I do is load up boxes into the trailers so that way they go to the stores.
No offense but if the calls really went this way, you should have quickly told the manager her unprofessionalism is the reason you will be finding a better job with SOMEONE ELSE! CLICKKKKKK.
Sweetie I am so sorry this is the experience at your first job. Your first job should be (ideally) a place where you gain confidence and experience and are treated with respect. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. I kinda put Kohl's above other stores because people there seem more professional than other places, but I guess it's just as crappy as the rest of them....or maybe that's just your local Kohl's. In ANY case, please don't let it make you bitter because you went in with excitement and enthusiasm, which is so important--and if you keep up that sense, you will do well in another job and another company where they appreciate all that you have to contribute.
I worked for Kohl's, sadly many Kohl's are like this and have known many people who worked in different stores. Management was abusive, the policies are so inconsistent and really shady honestly. I'm really not sure how Kohl's stays afloat. They treat their employees like dirt! Don't work for them you'll get screwed over and treated unfairly :(
I had my interview for a seasonal position yesterday, and didn’t get hired. They were so unprofessional at my location when I arrived at the store. Just seemed super busy and barely acknowledged my presence. They didn’t even know I had a interview scheduled. And the assistant manger didn’t even introduce himself when I met with him at first and I never met with the manager either. I had to ask who was I speaking with. I was just instructed to fill out my availability, which was part-time. I had a short 5-minute interview with the assistant manager as well. The assistant manger barely asked me questions. Told me he would speak to the manager about my availability, if she approved. I just graduated college and was looking for more retail experience ontop of what I already had. Can’t give you a reason why they didn’t hire me. I’m kind of glad I didn’t get hired, that just told me God has something better for me. Their loss.
This girl at my Kohls. Her first day was black friday. I'm surprised she came back for the rest of the season. I think she only worked seasonal cause she didn't stay on afterwards.
I just applied to Kohl’s yesterday, and I’ve already got an email this morning for scheduling an interview. This will be my first job, and I’m nervous. After watching this and reading the comments, idk if I wanna work there anymore.
Just give it a try. Not all managers are the same. I don't remember having a rude manger in my 10 years of working. Till last month i had just got of and i told one of the mangers bye and the ass hole didn't even respond. Like common courtesy ass hole😑. But yet they tell the employees to greet, smile and be helpful. But yet you can be an ass to me 😑🤔. That was the last time he got a goodbye from me. You're nice to me i nice to you. You don't talk to when i talk to you i won't talk to you again. The only thing you have to really worry about is customers there are some entitled douche bags.
Jennifer Martinez PLEASE DONT . I just started and im working there i seen lot of reviews but i told my self give it a try and im ready for it to be done
Worked at Kohl’s for one month. They did not train me well at all! And we’re upset when I would make a mistake but how was I suppose to know?!? I would always ask questions, and they would always look at me stupid. The managers are rude, and do not respect your schedule! I was going to school and they forced me to miss class to come in early in the morning or they would not give me anymore hours, and that was the first day! The next time they messed up my schedule and gave me hours I couldn’t work with, so I called to them, and they said I need to figure it out. So I just told them I couldn’t make it and couldn’t find anyone to cover my shifts, so I just did a no show! Then they messed up on pay check and didn’t pay me the right amount and I called a million times and they would just hang up on me. I finally just stopped showing up and every time they would call I would tell them I’m not working until they pay me $175 they owe me and hang up on them. I will never shop with them! And everyone in family doesn’t shop with them, since they treated me with such disrespect. And they are rude to most of there employees.
I just started working at Kohl’s and I absolutely love it! Everyone is sooo nice! Even customers! This is my first time working retail and I love what I do. The kohl’s I work at is so well put together.
I think Kohl's sucks. One week before Christmas all stores are open 24-hours a day. This is what I hate about Christmas. It's all about commercialism and making money. The true meaning of Christmas has been lost. Anyone who goes shopping at 2am in the morning either suffers from insomnia or doesn't have a life!
Agree. Years ago when I lived in England, worked for a large supermarket chain (owned by Walmart) that was open 24 hrs and the week before Xmas, even at 2am was manic. Will say at least they laid on a nice buffet for staff during their break.
Every time I go to kohls I all ways see different people there's a big turn over at my store I never see the same person working there's all ways different managers
This is my current experience with Kohls. I started back in November for seasonal, and they kept me on, and I’m putting my two weeks in on the 1st of April. One manager is so rude, specifically to me, and I have no idea what I ever did to her. She pulled me aside one day when I wasn’t getting credit and basically told me that i’m no help to the stores credit goal. That “whatever i’m doing, i need to throw that out the window because it’s obviously not working”. Didn’t help me improve, just tore me down. They’re so unorganized, and try calling you in on the days you put that you cant work on your availability . My coworker put her two weeks in and they were still scheduling her even after she gave them her letter. If you don’t get at least 3 credits a shift, they treat you like trash. I get all stores have their goal for credit cards, but these managers don’t help you with improving at all. The first of the month cannot come any sooner.
Managers like that eventually get fired or quit, they get fired because they do that to someone either whose parents have money or someone whose parents are lawyers and can sue.
i worked there for two years and I start as a team lead (for kids and home) at a new location (state including) next week with orientation. This was in 2018 and a LOT more organized and not as hectic. I'm sorry you ended up with a bad experience. Not all retail and kohls locations are like that.
I work at Kohl's and I got in trouble today by the security guy. He thought these two ladies in my line had a fraud card and I got so confused he told me to check their ID but they already left so I got yelled at. Came home crying. Horrible day! 😥
I just found your channel and I love it! ❤️ even though this is an older video I’m so sorry that Kohl’s did that to you. It is awfully ran company. I will say I worked at two locations. The first one where I learned everything was amazing. (Started during spring) All college kids sticking together getting through a shift then maybe even hanging out after work. We all helped each other and had fun plus if we wanted more hours we made a page on Facebook where people can post to take others shifts. The next location was pure hell and didn’t have shit together. I was so upset but I followed my husband to his new station so I didn’t last long there. I was pregnant at the time and they made me cry a lot with how rude they were.
It’s really kinda crappy that these stores are actually open on solid holidays! It’s ridiculous. Back in the day stores weren’t actually open on thanksgiving. Black Friday in the 80s vs Black Friday 2020 is such a social shock!
i didn’t get trained either omg. my first day the h2 didn’t even know that they had new hires, i had to repeat my name like six times. the girl that “trained me” felt so bad because she had no idea what i was supposed to do. thankfully this is just a temporary job since i’m going to college in a month
+tera Nothing too hard, basic questions like why do you want this job, what is something that you didn't want to do but you did anyways because you needed to, job history education history etc
the kohl’s I worked at was pretty much the reason they’re still in business. They actually cared about customers and employees, they were always so patient with me. If I had to guess, you spoke with the administration on the phone, and she was probably just having a bad day for her own reasons and then the nicer ladies was one of the managers. I’d love to still work there because the store was one of the best teams to work with but Covid kinda messed it up so I moved on. It doesn’t help that you got hired seasonal. That’s always going to be the most stressed and frantic minded the management team is gonna be.
Y’all Kohl’s be something else , the one I work at I got a bunch of training and everyone is super nice all the H2s/ hospitality hosts are also super nice and helpful
I know! I LOVE working there. Every single one of my managers is professional AND kind. I’m honestly so surprised that so many people have a bad experience
I worked in kohls too from summer of 2006 to December of 2006. I stopped working when I went on mat leave. I didn't mind it worked recovery, and changing room women's. After that I did the changing room in children's, and accessories. My manager was pretty nice but the store manager was a witch.
Your testimony reminds me a lot of when I was a new hire at Mervyns. No training, just figure it out and act like you know the answer. Look where Mervyns is today, bankrupt and gone. The interesting thing is kohls reminds me of the former Mervyns store format layout, and everything is always on sale at kohls just like Mervyns was. The management at Mervyns just stayed in the office away from the customers "writing the schedule" and were irritated when bothered, funny how all seven of them always went to lunch together at 12 sharp.
I Live in San Diego, Ca. And you are exactly right. Our Meryns closed and we made it into a Kohl's. So that might be why it's familiar to you. I helped to fill in the new layout of my store for 2 months right before the KOHLS grand opening
I’ve done retail and gotten that “are you a moron” look as well. The two people in charge have a meeting with us day 1 and tell us that we can ask questions and it’s better to do that than not ask and do something wrong. Day 3 I ask a legit question and that’s where the “are you a moron” looks began and what was worse is that they gave it to all of us (many of whom, like me, were first timers in the workforce).
I worked there about 8 months and it was awful. The management was so unorganized. They played favorites and kept the morale low by constantly making you feel like you aren’t doing enough. The credit card applications were a huge issue. They would push them like crazy and even go as far as to cut you off in the middle of talking to a customer, get on your register and start pitching the credit card. I was disgusted with how the place was ran.
Hannah, you are so sweet. I seldom watch a video to the end, but yours I did. I can't imagine a company that is not willing to train someone. I am glad you found a good job and Victoria's Secret is fortunate to have you. 6 people put thumbs down on your video. Shame on them. Next time I am at Kohls I will think of you. Good luck in your future. I am sure you will do well. Love your attitude. I worked in retail when I was young and later owned a retail store. My experience would have been the same had they had a Kohls in Canada in the 60's. I would have quit. Love your spunk.
I came in for my interview at kohl’s at 2 pm and didn’t interview till 4:15 because no one came. And then when I started working they basically said figure it out and got annoyed if I asked questions
Just like target I never ever see no one on the floor ever unless if you go to the front desk and ask for help I swear there's only one person on the floor when I go or there's no body I went there a while back durning the day I did it see one employee on the floor maybe two cashiers and a front desk person this is a slower store but still help is hard to find
Well, I'm very sorry to hear about your experience. I'll be an associate for 2 years in November. We're a small 56k store and I know bigger stores are just giant messes for one, high turnover rate too. My store functions like a family..we have some crazy aunts, but everyone has their heart in the right place. We break our backs doing crazy stuff for customers. I'm so glad you found a job you like better!
God bless you Hannah. So sorry to hear about your terrible working experience there. Shame on her for mistreating you. I worked at Kohl's too, and I never really liked it all that much.
Watch saying you will work Sundays if you have school on Monday because work will keep you late and then you'll have a hard time at school the next morning.
They NEVER have enough cashiers. So they call for backup and pull department leads away from there departments, and then costumers can’t get helped while shopping.
I just applied to be a seasonal associate. They sent me an email to schedule an interview. I currently work at McDonald's. The manager at the McDonald's I work at didn't even train me. They basically said "here's your schedule, figure it out on your own." I hate working at McDonald's and after watching this video, I'm debating on even scheduling for a interview. Really appreciate this video though.
I worked at Kohl’s to i hated it never gave me enough money to save or buy gifts so I had to get another job within a month of working there. But I did like it that I got payed weekly.
I hated working at Kohl's with a freaking passion!!!!! It was like high school all over again tbh the area and department supervisors along with their "besties" got all the hours while I got stuck coming in for four hours, asking customers to sign up for a Kohl's charge was a PITA(pain in the a**) and they left me off the schedule ON PURPOSE!!!!!!!! They let me go in February 2011 and I've never felt happier
My sister shops at Kohl's often yet she never sees the same workers very often. Now I understand why they leave. Years ago after college i worked in the office of a higher end store. Sometimes a sales associate would be brought into the office and critiqued loudly to the point of tears. Retail associates should be respected so much more.
19:21 😂😂 Wake up call: if you work retail, you WILL be working most, if not all, "Federal holidays" 😅 Retail sucks, not gonna lie, but if you think you're getting holidays off, you're sadly mistaken 😊
I don’t really ever write on social media, but I am trying to reach out to as many as people as I can to get some Insight and advice for my current situation. If you have ever worked with Kohl’s, Loss Preventions, Criminal Justice, Lawyers, or any Retail type of work your feedback would be greatly appreciated. I first got a letter from Kohl’s about 2 months ago basically saying I owe $375 and if I don’t pay I will be sent to collections, apparently this was actually the second letter I got but I never got the first one. Of course I called right when I got this even though I thought it maybe a scam. It was in fact real though, I called their corporate office I told them I never stolen anything from Kohl’s they told me I needed to go to any Kohl’s and they could find out what was going on “they would have a profile with this case ID”. I go to my closest store Elk Grove, I talk with a Loss preventions associate, I show him the notice he tells me that he will give it to his Supervisor Steven and have him reach out to me. Steven called me that day and the only thing he told me was he was going to look into it and get back to me. Needless to say I never did hear from Steven again. I went back to the store many, many times. The first store manager I talked with was Alice, she was nice and seemed actually concerned and told me that she will make sure he reaches out to me. Each time I went to the store they made a copy of the letter I received and left my number. After about the sixth time going to the store I talked with a different store manager Liz, I’m now 2 days till supposedly they are going to send collections after me. Liz tells me that they don’t know the Loss Preventions Supervisor (Steven) schedule and they are not suppose to know it or they are just not allowed to say when he is in or out. Again Liz seemed like a nice person I told her I would come back in an hour the same day which I did and she tells me he is not in. This whole time I have also been calling the store as well as corporate to find out what is going on. Finally Liz tells me that Steven told her to tell me to just do what is on the paper and he is not allowed to talk to me about the case. Needless to say at this point I’m extremely frustrated, he really could have told me that the first day he reached out to me instead of me making tons of store visits and phone calls over two months, or stop telling me that he will reach out to me and you will make sure that will happen. I never got a call from them, ever. During this whole time I’m trying to reach out to the store I am still calling corporate to try and find out what this is about. I tell them it’s not me they tell me go to the store or go to the police department to fill out some forms. I’m not sure if this was Identity theft, where it happen when it happen or anything. It seems they wanted to give me as little information as possible. When the store finally told me that Steven could not talk with me, I did go to the Elk Grove Police Department. I talked with a officer at the desk there not really sure what I’m supposed to be doing I showed him the letters, he asked a few questions, have you lost your ID and some other things, then they ran my ID said there was nothing pending against me the case on the paper was a store case. He told me I can write up what is happening and submit it the next day with the letters they sent me and it opens a case or something like that. I called corporate again when I get home tell them I went to the police department and what they told me, they told me I need to file a Identity Theft report for them to keep collections from Happening. Then they finally told me the date the incident happen May 22, 2019 and this is where it began to get interesting and very upsetting. My wife was at work the day I got this information, when she got home I asked her was that the Day I did a return at kohl’s she got the receipt and told me yes. I call the Corporate Office the next morning I said I think I got this figured out, I was there on May 22nd I did a legitimate return and asked them what they were actually accusing me of. I told him, every couple years it seems my wife likes doing a spring cleaning and everything our kids did not like or wear and she did not like she asked if I could return it this was all brand new never been used things. I have done this before and said sure. On May 22, 1019 I went to that Kohl’s in Elk Grove I went through the front door directly to returns waited in a small line talked to the returns clerk who I told the same thing to my wife was just doing spring cleaning and this is all the stuff she wanted to get rid of. She told me typical returns policy I could only get store credit and it would be for the lowest sales price they had for the item, I said no problem. There were a handful of items that were too old that were no longer in their system we finished up the return. The amount was too high they told me that I would get a store credit card in the mail and if I did not receive it call the number on the bottom. Sure enough I did end up needing to call that number they told me they needed to do a couple follow up questions mainly why I was returning all that stuff I told her the same thing about the wife and they sent out the card. The Corporate person who I told this to then proceeded to tell me what the Loss Preventions person wrote up in his report, he said that they have me on camera come into the store stop at a kiosk grab something off the kiosk and proceed to claims where I tried to return that item. HE (Steven) then confronted me at returns where I gave him my ID and I guess they still let me do the return? His story was a little confusing. At this point Now I’m really upset, not only I have I never shoplifted in my life, they are lying about what I did, trying to extort me to pay $375 or be sent to collections, and telling me I’m lying. Even the Corporate person I was talking with said, it was hard for him to believe my story because they would have not just let me walk into the front of the store without stopping me and checking what I was bringing store. After we hung up I was in disbelief I know they have all the evidence, I know they have the phone conversations in. Which I’m not sure if different locations have this policy but I have never been stopped or have seen someone at the entrance that checks merchandise I know Walmart and some other places do. He then told me that they will delay the collections and get back to me next week after he sends an email to the I had with corporate, I know they have all the items I did a return on. Why would I waste so much time and energy if I got confronted by Loss Preventions it would have been the first thing I told my wife that day, that Kohl’s was accusing me of stealing I would have never spent so much time and energy trying to figure out what was going on. Sorry for the long story So that is where I am currently at, not sure what I can and should do next. I’m not sure what they teach at Kohl’s Loss Preventions like if they are suspicious of something write it up and just threaten the person and hope they are right so the person just ends up paying. Not sure if I should reach out to a Lawyer for Defamation. Can I file a police report I only gave my ID to the returns lady to do the return and this claims person stole my ID to fabricate this case? This has seriously been stressing me out, SO any advice or feedback would be great thanks. Please Share the more people who see the more information I can get for what I can do.
IT'S LATE IN THE DAY BUT THIS YOUNG LADY MAY BE THE SOURCE OR HER PROBLEMS WORKING W/ OTHERS. SHE WAS UPSET WHEN SHE WAS TREATED RUDLEY, AND SHE FELT SHADED WHEN SOMEONE TRIED TO ASSIST HER. WHAAAAA???? HOPEFULLY, THE REACTION SHE RECEIVED WAS DUE TO HER CAUSE, I AM SUPPOSED TO BE STARTING FOR THE SEASON NEXT WEEK.
Im working there as a temporary as offseason baseball job. My experience was good everyone at my store is kind and respectful yes there is minor swearing while we unload trucks lol but its for good reason. The managment is so nice i leave 30 min early as i usually skip lunch but i work 5 am to 1 pm
I’ve been working since October and the only training i got was at the registers. Then they put me in kids ON MY OWN and still do to this day, while they have 3 people in home which rarely gets messy and barely have any 500s. They will also have me on the registers, BOPUS, on Amazon, customer service, and have me cover breaks. This is when they knew I didn’t have any retail experience. As for management, 02 is probably the worse. She got transferred to our store from another Kohl’s and was so arrogant and rude to everyone. She fired people even though it was the store manager’s job to do that. The only good management we have is 01, 03, 05, and 06. I was so excited when 02 was getting transferred and last minute, that transfer got cancelled and I’ve been looking at other jobs since.
Hey Hannah, You were there a lot longer than me. At orientation, when a dour-faced manager told me I had to download a third party 'schediling' app on my cellphone, I politely made my excuses and left, never to return. After listening to your experience, I know I did the right thing - and I have retail experience. Already have another job, so no sweat. As for them, their days are numbered since dept stores are passing into history. Love yr accent btw 😀 Good luck! 👍
I got a job offer. Is it true that elegible associates are forced to get the Kohl's credit card? Not selling it but actually have to apply and get the credit card for themselves?
Same thing happen to me at this one retail store not at kohls I wasn’t trained but expected to stand round for 32 hours week wen I sat in break room I got told find something to do I quit I really hate feeling lost on a job and can’t help no one 😊 peace
Lmao “Oh yeah...you’re scheduled to work Black Friday.” What an a**hole 😂 I’m waiting on an email for an orientation at Kohls. The manager I’ve met is really cool. Never worked in retail before so I hope this all goes smoothly. UPDATE: I’ve been working here for 7 months. I barely get any hours. I get more days off than what I work. Not bad, just really boring.
I hated asking customers to sign up for credit cards, that's harassing customers and should not be allowed in no retail. Low pay and not enough hours to pay rent.
EXACTLY 😭😭😭😭😭‼️
FR, i also hate when i have to make customers sign up for credit cards like bruuuh cmon
I feel like im scamming people... And we have to apply the discount and show them and then take it off when they say no like that's so rude!!!
I never asked
I work there and my process was a lot faster and seemingly more put together. My orientation was with one other girl and they handed us our schedules for the next two weeks that day. The managers at our store are super nice and helpful, sucks to see that not all stores are like that because I love my job 😕
Kenzie Wol same here! I love working at Kohls. I guess it depends on the managers.
what is your position at kohls ? I applied as a credit card associate and I wanted to know the to expect working there :)
Makes me feel a little better
Tori Straughn how did it go? I have an interview tomorrow!
Same here! I’m guessing it just depends on the manager because my manager is very nice and understanding. I love my job too!
Casey Baron so sorry that happened to you. You deserve better .
I hope everything worked out for you :-)
Kohls sucks.
#welcometoretailPTSD
That "please don't scream at me I'll cry" bit was definitely me when I worked retail...
You're too sensitive for retail.
@@perfectfae3534 I definitely am too sensitive for retail :( I take everything too personally and I feel like crap about myself because of it
God I hated kohls. They don't train you at all
i just thought it was my store 😭
Journey Girl i literally worked there for a month tops before i quit that shit 😹
I used to work for Kohls. They only train people who kiss their @$$.
I’m late asf but I just started there, I was literally shown two buttons and then thrown on register had to learn the floor myself as well ugh I wanna quit already
Same here!! Khols is on the same level as target far being the worst!!
Julia Ferrier I have a interview next week I really want to like it. But everyone has had experiences like yours who have worked there ...:(
Julia Ferrier yep
A nightmare.
well.... now idk how to feel about this job interview at kohl's tomorrow lol
Lajosiecortez1 How did it go?
Feefa roni got the job lol my first day is Wednesday 😂
Lajosiecortez1 i have mine tomorrow and now I just want to cancel it lol
girl same lmao
Me too lol
I worked at kohls too!! Oh my gosh worst time of my life. Everything you said was spot on... I got trained for shoes but of course I took care of everything by the shoes. I barely got trained for register too lol. They let me shadow a girl for 15 mins then just stuck me there ugh
I'm supposed to work shoes but I got trained in kids.. so like, what do you do in shoes?? loll helppp
@@JollyGiggler101 I used to work in shoes for a few years, now I'm in kids. If you have any questions I'll answer as best I can.
Sounds like Macy's.
Same thing going on with me I swear
Luis Cruz you still working there
I worked for Kohl's for almost 7 years.
#typicalretailscenariosadly
So true everything you have mention!
What is the age limit
I worked at kohls last year and I quit after 3 months they treat the employees awful
Tori Jones they forgot to pay me for 17 hours
& their upper management treats their customers just as poorly, so I can imagine they treat their employees just as poorly.
Not at the Kohl's where my mom works everyone there is suoer nice
@@lovely.taylor5778 where I work nearly everyone is nice. It is actually a great and funny community...but still retail
This is how it is at most Kohl's. Good store management and professionalism in a Kohl's store is very rare. I know from experience. I am glad you found something else.
Maryann Leydig what is the age limit
@Lily 101 Oh yeah 100% agreed and same
@Penny58 this!!
I got hired for stockroom operation is that same thing you got hired for ? I don’t know what to expect.
When you work omni fulfillment and if you dont find everything every time, they treat you like you're an ass. F them.
ShahBoogey wow that’s crazy
Places like kohls and walmart should not work thanksgiving for black friday. Let people be with their families, and enjoy themselves.
Hi can I ask which Kohl's you worked at?
I watched through this entire video and I'm surprised at how you managed to do this all within one take while being on topic and concise most of the time. I was hired on late September and stayed for the seasonal season (first week of January) and I didn't shadow anyone for training and jumped into it on my first official day of POS. I had nice managers that wanted to get everyone up to speed (even the newer hires in like mid-November) and the coworkers were helpful, so sorry this happened to you.
I worked at Ross and I was never trained either. They stuck me in the fitting room. I quit last month without a two weeks notice.
I hated Ross I work there for 2 days and quit
#soundslikemyoldjob
+Jasmine Aquino It was awful
I work at Kohls, but it's not the stores. I work at the distribution center in Macon. Started as a warehouse associate, worked seasonal, now I'm working part time and soon to full time. I am in the shipping department, all I do is load up boxes into the trailers so that way they go to the stores.
No offense but if the calls really went this way, you should have quickly told the manager her unprofessionalism is the reason you will be finding a better job with SOMEONE ELSE! CLICKKKKKK.
+Simone Wade When you need a job really bad, you're more willing to overlook unprofessionalism lol but after a while it was too much, yknow?
No. They close rank. Stick with their people. No use.
In ANY case, please don't let it make you bitter because you went in with excitement and enthusiasm, which is so important--and if you keep up that sense, you will do well in another job and another company where they appreciate all that you have to contribute.
purple orange that is such a sweet and positive comment that it comforted me, and I'm not even in the girl's situation. Bless your soul.
I’m working at kohl’s Rn and they literally barely trained me I’m still so confused and I’m supposed to be part time but they got me working 30+ hours
I think Kohl's sucks. One week before Christmas all stores are open 24-hours a day. This is what I hate about Christmas. It's all about commercialism and making money. The true meaning of Christmas has been lost. Anyone who goes shopping at 2am in the morning either suffers from insomnia or doesn't have a life!
or is a vampire😂
Steven Charles To each their own. Don’t be so judgmental!
Agree. Years ago when I lived in England, worked for a large supermarket chain (owned by Walmart) that was open 24 hrs and the week before Xmas, even at 2am was manic. Will say at least they laid on a nice buffet for staff during their break.
Been working 6 months at kohls in the shoe dept and I am fed up and I'm currently trying to find a different job 😑😒.
1JZGaming I just started at kohls. Any advice how the register works? I'm kinda nervous
@@taker300any update?
Every time I go to kohls I all ways see different people there's a big turn over at my store I never see the same person working there's all ways different managers
wow, it sounds like management sucks overall at all Kohl's. I can relate to your story after working there for just one season.
Same! Not a very inviting work environment.
The Gryffindor Delacour that's horrible. So sorry that happened. I hope everything worked out for you in the end. :)
I am not a huge fan of loss prevention. The ones at my store have a hidden agenda
Basically my experience at JCPennys. No training or guidance, just “figure it out”. Awful place to work!
This is literally me lol . I'm quitting tomorrow 😂
+Andrea Hoover Yaaaaas!
This is so funny.
If you're working seasonal especially in the winter, you're 100% going to work holidays FYI
haha i currently work there , hate it !
+tera Nothing too hard, basic questions like why do you want this job, what is something that you didn't want to do but you did anyways because you needed to, job history education history etc
I have a job interview on Saturday morning
the kohl’s I worked at was pretty much the reason they’re still in business.
I know this was years ago, stumbled onto your video but anyway I’m sorry you had a bad experience with kohl’s!! 😅
Y’all Kohl’s be something else , the one I work at I got a bunch of training and everyone is super nice all the H2s/ hospitality hosts are also super nice and helpful
I’ve been working at kohl’s for 1 year now and it’s the best place to work I love it coworkers are friendly manager is super nice amazing job
I know! I LOVE working there. Every single one of my managers is professional AND kind. I’m honestly so surprised that so many people have a bad experience
Btw can you do a makeup tutorial on what your wearing in this video. Omg your makeup looks so good.
I definitely can!
Her Nails too!!!😃
I worked in kohls too from summer of 2006 to December of 2006. I stopped working when I went on mat leave. I didn't mind it worked recovery, and changing room women's. After that I did the changing room in children's, and accessories. My manager was pretty nice but the store manager was a witch.
Girl you should have applied for other jobs instead of waiting obviously they weren’t gonna be professional
I helped to fill in the new layout of my store for 2 months right before the KOHLS grand opening
this happened to me too , not the best managment
I’ve done retail and gotten that “are you a moron” look as well. The two people in charge have a meeting with us day 1 and tell us that we can ask questions and it’s better to do that than not ask and do something wrong. Day 3 I ask a legit question and that’s where the “are you a moron” looks began and what was worse is that they gave it to all of us (many of whom, like me, were first timers in the workforce).
That's sad 😒
Retail isn't for everyone
I definitely agree. However, I now work for a huge retail corporation & absolutely love it. What a difference good management can make. 😊
It may not be for everyone, but I definitely think everyone should do a retail/service some time in their lives.
@@candi0826 i think so too
I worked there about 8 months and it was awful.
+Scottieonamission Thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciate comments like yours; they always keep me going!
I was also scheduled immediately after orientation and have gotten 5/6 shifts a week :)
Im at the register and im so ready to quit but i have only 24 days left 🤦🏾♀️ im trying to push through. But man this is killing meee
I worked at Kohl's too, and I never really liked it all that much.
lmaoo omg i used to work kohls too and i quit. their management sucked and they treated employees horribly.
Watch saying you will work Sundays if you have school on Monday because work will keep you late and then you'll have a hard time at school the next morning.
I have an interview tmm for stockroom operations associate and im so nervous for what the questions will be.
What happened
How was it
They NEVER have enough cashiers.
How did your interview go?
I worked at Kohl’s to i hated it never gave me enough money to save or buy gifts so I had to get another job within a month of working there. But I did like it that I got payed weekly.
I love your story time vids. Youre really good at painting a picture and youre not all over the place with it.
Thank you!
That’s true. I waited for 2 weeks after the orientation and I had to called them back ugh🙄
19:21 😂😂
Wake up call: if you work retail, you WILL be working most, if not all, "Federal holidays" 😅
Retail sucks, not gonna lie, but if you think you're getting holidays off, you're sadly mistaken 😊

My first day at JCP was black Friday with no training as well lol..total nightmare 😱
Kohls was the worst job I have ever had in my life. Management was the worst and so was the pay and hours smh I dont miss it at all.
I was so excited when 02 was getting transferred and last minute, that transfer got cancelled and I’ve been looking at other jobs since.
i got sick in a khols once and never wanted to go in the store again anywhere then they built one in the town 30 minutes away
I got the job the day after my interview. Btw it was a group interview
THIS IS ME RN
RIGHT DOWN TO EVEN STARTING IN THE JUNIORS DEPARTMENT AND NO ONE ELSE BEING ON THE FLOOR AND RUDE MANAGER,L
I got a job offer. Is it true that elegible associates are forced to get the Kohl's credit card? Not selling it but actually have to apply and get the credit card for themselves?
They don’t make you do that, you can apply for it if you want but it’s not a requirement!
I’m sorry on that, would you not recommended not working there then?
Girl they didn’t call you two weeks after orientation?! Sis you should’ve let that gooooo lol
Same thing happen to me at this one retail store not at kohls I wasn’t trained but expected to stand round for 32 hours week wen I sat in break room I got told find something to do I quit I really hate feeling lost on a job and can’t help no one 😊 peace
the store I work at is literally the same.... 🥴 I can’t wait to QUIT!!!
Best of luck to you!!
Had my interview yesterday and they offered me the job. I’m waiting on my orientation email but haven’t got it yet. We’ll see
