In my first week I would say yes... But now I get it... We are pirates... The feeling you get that at any moment another pirate might show up and take all your loot keeps you on your toes and just make every adventure... an actual adventure

The only toxic behavior there is when a person or group keeps killing you even after they took all your loot but decide to spawn camp you or if you don’t even fight back but they keep killing you
Scuttle, switch servers. On the right before you exit the Ferry Of The Damned. Spawn killing to ensure sinking a ship isn't toxic, it's how you play the game.
@eddomore3521 I understand what you mean now. Sorry, I didn't even think of that. The people are just fixing your boat and bailing water to keep killing you. I agree that is toxic, but when that happens, try to use it to get better at PvP because sometimes you'll go awhile before you get the chance to practice that quickly. I've been playing for the last week and saw 4 ships and only had one PvP encounter but as you said that is Toxic and I agree with you!
its not toxic to be a pirate in the pirate game, anyone who gets salty at you for sinking them and taking their loot clearly forgot what game they were playing. Its like people who get mad at people killing them in DayZ, brother it is a zombie survival game and you have loot.
Another nice video man, they've been recommended to me recently. For those who are bad at catching enemy ladders or just plan on being kamikaze anyway, you can drop the keg right in front of the boat and it'll blow when they run it over. Sometimes you can drop it off the back of your boat and an unaware crew would still hit it.
The endless debate. Being out-pirared is fine, but being spawn-killed repeatedly while being called offensive insults is toxic behaviour. Some players use the excuse it's a pirate game to act vile. How hard is that for some to understand? That's why Nintendo sensibly steer clear of adding random voice chat. They know people can be scummy. And will be.
@@mountainrogue3448 New players don't know that, I'm one of those on PS5 and we were camped by a crew within our first few days and they refused to sink us and just kept killing us as soon as we spawned. We left the game cause we didn't have a clue how to get around it. We know now but at the time we didn't. It was shit and almost left a sour taste, a few days later after learning more and playing around we have a better understanding.

I know this seems like a cowardous thing to do, but typically when a ship sinks me I tend to just watch and play music, Ive been sailing for a while and ive amased 17 mil gold with both level 200+ in the pvp factions, Ive got everything I wanted and when another crew comes up, I always offer an allience, not for malicious intent but cause I love spending time with people In SoT, I love sharing stories and helping pirates, When they betray me, I still have a smile as helping new sailors, remind me of myself and all the pirates who helped me rise to the pirate I am today
I got snuck up on while stacking fotd by a brig. They said they wanted to alliance, and then they kegged us. We then chased them across the entire map, sunk them twice, and was able to sell most of the treasure. We did lose 4 chests of legends, but I still call it an overall win.
Me, a friend some guys on a brig (friendly) and a reaper (in alliance/traitor) once did about a FOF, FTOD 3x and ashen wind event together. We were cheering we did it. And while everyone (exept me) was drinking grog. The reapers suddenly opened fire on us. I grabed the chest of fortune and jumped overboard. The reapers left the alliance and tried to take all out stuff. I hid the chest and sneaked aboard. Put all their planks in a storage crate and waited for my friend to turn back up. As my alliance approached they decided to flee but I jumped out, dropped the anchor and threw blunderbombs to keep them away. My alliance tore them to shreds with cannon fire. After that we took their stuff, sold it, and had another grog together... later I realised I forgot the chest of fortune though...
Someone did that to me and my husband as we were newbies, they told us how to make an alliance and we did a skelly fort, then we saw the disband notice and they shot at us and sank us, luckily we spawned close by and intercepted them at the outpost and we snuck over to grab some of the loot and sell it, they didn’t even notice us! That was sweet revenge.
You have an emmisarry flag. The game does put a warning saying you're more likely to be attacked for said flag regardless of level. You have supplies too.
If they're flying a level 1 emissary that's a good indicator they haven't done much, people realize you get better rewards when hitting higher level emissaries right? It'd make more sense to hit people you know probably have loot. I completely understand getting robbed when my coffers are full.
If you're being spawncamped, just scuttle your ship and take the L. It's not toxic to spawncamp/troll/insult/steal. That's what freedom is. Either you have freedom and the right to choose those things, or you don't have freedom. This game is fun because it gives you freedom. The only thing you aren't allowed to do is cheat or ban evade. Cheating includes mods, exploits, third party applications, and physical alterations to your screen or steam client. If you're not cheating, you're not toxic.
Yesterday we attacked a crew to steal their loot, and they come back 3 times and the 3 times we sunk them we ended selling their stuff successfully, happy end 😌
As someone who is terrible at pvp despite trying hard to get better, if i get attacked by an enemy ship, its over. I dont stand a chance 99% of the time. So i avoid others and sell often. But i understand that its not toxic. Its the way it is. I might not like it, but i understand it. I wont ever attack a crew first and steal from them, but if others do, thats just the way it is. I’m the same as you, I solo sloop and love to do the maps and the sea forts, but I suck at pvp, so at the first sight of an emery i scarper and circle an outpost and sell my loot bit by bit if they’re dumb enough to follow me. One time I had a brig full crew follow me all around morrow’s peak and I sold everything in about 6 rotations and they still didn’t give up! So I sailed on to the shroud and idiots followed me, I did a clubhaul and took some cannon fire but got their anchor down and sailed away, I think the shroud got the, because I was finally free of their masts after that.

Man I kept getting my ass kicked by some folks and I went in mic and was like yo you guys are too good, teach me. Then they sunk me. Then the next time we bumped paths, they boarded me and chilled out and gave my crew tips and shit and went away peacefully. Lol.
I find helping new players in a alliance is so much better then attacking, most new players will just quit playing sea of thieves if they get ganked, helping them until they get comfortable with the game made them better players and they had fun in pvp combat after working together for a bit
Im a fresh ps5 player who dives headlong into any pvp. There is only one way to get better after all. But i do appriciate the people who ally, i try not to shoot first. And i dont mind losing, but when you got people who sink you and insult you. Then they hunt you down again and chase you that i have an issue with. Im can win fights. But those types of people are far to experienced for me as they focus mainly on pvp with years of experience over me.
Right now you have 20 chance of having a fight you can win, 30 uphill battle which can go either way 30 noone bothers you and 10 one of the hackers detonates tpd keg out of nowhere and sinks you in two passes. Difficulty increases the more value you have on board. So far getting to E5 flag and selling all secures some payout. E5quest maybe if noone is on horizon or you don't see a reaper 5 making beeline for your ship.
I managed to find 4 friendly ships and we were just chillig talking having a nice time. Then out of nowhere a brig reaper came and sunk all of our ships, bare in mind none of us had loot and where playing music and making our own firework show. To me this is toxic cuz for a start its rare to encounter so many frindly people on one server and two we had nothing yet they attacked despite us offering if they wanted to join. After they killed us toss wated bucket on us. Anyways after that they were mercilessly hunted and sunk 5x before they left.

Naw because if you get rolled on by a sneak attack while doing a fort you'd have no chance to get your loot back when it's a fight you could have won on fair terms

Yes it sucks horribly to be doing stuff for hours only to lose it to another try hard crew, but it is called “Sea of thieves”. You know what it’s not called. Sea of Trolls or Sea of Killers. Yes fight people and take their loot but if they have no loot or are just chilling say fishing or what ever. You get these jack up wannabe players who endlessly troll and sink you just for the sake of doing so. That is not cool and that is toxic. You know real pirates the ones from the days in which this game is based were more often then not just theives and not killers. Black beard himself was notorious for not killing anyone when he robbed other ships. So just rolling up on a crew and instantly killing them that would actually be a break in lore and toxic as fuck.
That said, blackbeard was also notorious for eviscerating the crew of royal naval ships and sinking the the ships too. He didn't get one of the largest bounties for nothing
I don't get angry at people attempting to take my loot while im out on the sea. However, what i do get angry at is people waiting at an outpost at the sovereigns dock so they can harpoon my loot and sell it before i even have a chance to stop them. Btw. If you see one of my ships: The Musty Merchant The Musty Menace Cursed Crow Then you'll probably be asked to join an alliance as i am good at ship combat but i don't like to engage in combat if you don't fire first

Its not the pvp or loot stealing thats part of the game. Its the constant strings of insults that gets toxic, that or the people who ambush you when you spawn in. Barely made it out the tavern and my ships on fire, or people who have been pvping for years coming to call me trash since i've just joined the game. Though it is pretty funny when people come to sink me and i have no loot, i'll fight to the bitter end just to waste their time. Only one way to get better at pvp and thats by doing.
Stealing isn’t toxic, and sure, it’s a pirate game. What’s toxic is sinking someone who is CLEARLY a newb, especially BECAUSE they are a newb, which a lot of toxic players will do. Hell, I’ve run into newbs who attacked me first, blasted the, into oblivion, but didn’t quite sink them, then offered a truce, helped them repair, and then chatted with them and helped them learn some things. 👍🏻 Please, people, help the new players out and foster a great community. It’s the only way the game will survive.
As much as it really sucks and as much as I do hate it yes. It's okay to steal other people's loot. That is how the game is supposed to be played. And as far as I know there's only really two golden rules that you have to follow or should follow. Rule number one is don't attack anybody that's on the tall tale unless they attack you first. A lot of us veteran players know this and it sucks when you get sunk in a middle of a tall tale Quest. The second rule I would also say is just don't sink somebody and then let their treasure just sit there to rot. If you're going to sink the person then take the treasure and take it with you so the person has a chance to come back and fight you because if you're just one of those people that are just going around sinking ships and just letting the treasure sit there and let the treasure sink then that I classify as just toxic because if you want PVP there's the f****** hourglass click on that s*** if all you're looking is to just sink ships.
Let me preface this comment that I do enjoy PvP and that it adds a lot to the game. However, this is something I’d like to discuss. Probably the one thing that annoys me with adventure mode PvP is that the attacking ship will basically never have its own set of loot on it. So for the defending player, it feels like a lose-lose situation where at best you are wasting time and at worst you lose it all, whereas the attacking player has everything to gain and nothing to lose outside of their own time (after all why risk your own loot stealing someone else’s). I think if you sink an enemy ship, even with no loot on it, they should reward you in some way. Maybe there’s a system that tracks your sinks with loot onboard while you are an emissary similar to the Hourglass Faction Stash Grade, and awards you money when you lower your emissary flag. Ideally you’d want this to be balanced around defense rather than offense, which in not totally sure how to do, but I’m not a game designer so IDK.

Ive had 1 toxic moment in 4 days of ps5 SOT and it was a PC player who joined called us N word told us to get him loot and there was nothing we could do about it and i found out all you can do is lock them in the brig is crazy
Never play on open crew, that is one of the worst choices you could make since you have no idea what kind of people will join, especially since toxic players are so prevalent in this game

I'm a 36 old father full time job never cared for any pvp games love pve games but safer seas even sucks on this game with harsh penalties and can't even use your own ship. I paked for about a week as a new player and can't do anything on higher seas with out a constant fight even in spawn in just getting on is bad. Cool looking g game. But bad for us full time job dads lol.
It's best when you have a crew that you can trust, 3-4 players that trust each other will be better than a bunch of Randoms playing together 90% of the time. There are exceptions though

@@boopjack9522 When Safer seas was made for pve players. High seas is still pve/pvp, but pvp is more active now. You sign up for it whether you want it or not. That's the trade off. No risk, 30% cut. Full risk. 100%

@@OttomanLebanonlearn how to play on safer seas. If you don't care to much about commendation then safer seas is also good for the first 9 or so tall tales. Once you're comfortable with controlling your ship in pve then try high seas and possibly intentionally look for fights if you're up to it
@@nabollo no. Gold is very valuable, especially the things that can be sold for gold. As a merchant alliance main, you should know that the only thing more valuable is earning that gold as efficiently as you possibly can

Actually, when I play as a reaper I rarely hunt people down unless they are emissary grade 5, because I can just do voyages from any other trading company (excluding cargo and animal fetching quests for the merchant alliance) but just give everything to the Reapers at the Reapers hideout. Also btw as a reaper, something I recently realized can be useful for selling your loot faster at the hideout is to put all you loot on a harpoon rowboat and then use the harpoon to pull the boat all the way inside the building and then you no longer need to walk all the way back to your ship to sell the next item
I vehemently disagree. Stealing loot is part of the game, but being toxic is antisocial behavior and totally unnecessary. Be a good sport and win or lose with grace and dignity. Pretty simply, really.

The only thing you aren't allowed to do is cheat or ban evade. Cheating includes mods, exploits, third party applications, and physical alterations to your screen or steam client.

As someone who is terrible at pvp despite trying hard to get better, if i get attacked by an enemy ship, its over. I dont stand a chance 99% of the time. So i avoid others and sell often. But i understand that its not toxic. Its the way it is. I might not like it, but i understand it. I wont ever attack a crew first and steal from them, but if others do, thats just the way it is. I’m the same as you, I solo sloop and love to do the maps and the sea forts, but I suck at pvp, so at the first sight of an emery i scarper and circle an outpost and sell my loot bit by bit if they’re dumb enough to follow me.
One time I had a brig full crew follow me all around morrow’s peak and I sold everything in about 6 rotations and they still didn’t give up! So I sailed on to the shroud and idiots followed me, I did a clubhaul and took some cannon fire but got their anchor down and sailed away, I think the shroud got the, because I was finally free of their masts after that.

Man I kept getting my ass kicked by some folks and I went in mic and was like yo you guys are too good, teach me. Then they sunk me. Then the next time we bumped paths, they boarded me and chilled out and gave my crew tips and shit and went away peacefully. Lol.
I find helping new players in a alliance is so much better then attacking, most new players will just quit playing sea of thieves if they get ganked, helping them until they get comfortable with the game made them better players and they had fun in pvp combat after working together for a bit
Im a fresh ps5 player who dives headlong into any pvp. There is only one way to get better after all. But i do appriciate the people who ally, i try not to shoot first. And i dont mind losing, but when you got people who sink you and insult you. Then they hunt you down again and chase you that i have an issue with. Im can win fights. But those types of people are far to experienced for me as they focus mainly on pvp with years of experience over me.

Right now you have 20 chance of having a fight you can win, 30 uphill battle which can go either way 30 noone bothers you and 10 one of the hackers detonates tpd keg out of nowhere and sinks you in two passes.
Difficulty increases the more value you have on board. So far getting to E5 flag and selling all secures some payout. E5quest maybe if noone is on horizon or you don't see a reaper 5 making beeline for your ship.
I managed to find 4 friendly ships and we were just chillig talking having a nice time.
Then out of nowhere a brig reaper came and sunk all of our ships, bare in mind none of us had loot and where playing music and making our own firework show.
To me this is toxic cuz for a start its rare to encounter so many frindly people on one server and two we had nothing yet they attacked despite us offering if they wanted to join.
After they killed us toss wated bucket on us.
Anyways after that they were mercilessly hunted and sunk 5x before they left.

Yes fight people and take their loot but if they have no loot or are just chilling say fishing or what ever. You get these jack up wannabe players who endlessly troll and sink you just for the sake of doing so. That is not cool and that is toxic.
You know real pirates the ones from the days in which this game is based were more often then not just theives and not killers. Black beard himself was notorious for not killing anyone when he robbed other ships. So just rolling up on a crew and instantly killing them that would actually be a break in lore and toxic as fuck.
That said, blackbeard was also notorious for eviscerating the crew of royal naval ships and sinking the the ships too. He didn't get one of the largest bounties for nothing

I don't get angry at people attempting to take my loot while im out on the sea. However, what i do get angry at is people waiting at an outpost at the sovereigns dock so they can harpoon my loot and sell it before i even have a chance to stop them.

Its not the pvp or loot stealing thats part of the game. Its the constant strings of insults that gets toxic, that or the people who ambush you when you spawn in. Barely made it out the tavern and my ships on fire, or people who have been pvping for years coming to call me trash since i've just joined the game. Though it is pretty funny when people come to sink me and i have no loot, i'll fight to the bitter end just to waste their time. Only one way to get better at pvp and thats by doing.

Stealing isn’t toxic, and sure, it’s a pirate game. What’s toxic is sinking someone who is CLEARLY a newb, especially BECAUSE they are a newb, which a lot of toxic players will do. Hell, I’ve run into newbs who attacked me first, blasted the, into oblivion, but didn’t quite sink them, then offered a truce, helped them repair, and then chatted with them and helped them learn some things. 👍🏻 Please, people, help the new players out and foster a great community. It’s the only way the game will survive.

As much as it really sucks and as much as I do hate it yes. It's okay to steal other people's loot. That is how the game is supposed to be played.
And as far as I know there's only really two golden rules that you have to follow or should follow.
Rule number one is don't attack anybody that's on the tall tale unless they attack you first. A lot of us veteran players know this and it sucks when you get sunk in a middle of a tall tale Quest.
The second rule I would also say is just don't sink somebody and then let their treasure just sit there to rot. If you're going to sink the person then take the treasure and take it with you so the person has a chance to come back and fight you because if you're just one of those people that are just going around sinking ships and just letting the treasure sit there and let the treasure sink then that I classify as just toxic because if you want PVP there's the f****** hourglass click on that s*** if all you're looking is to just sink ships.
Let me preface this comment that I do enjoy PvP and that it adds a lot to the game. However, this is something I’d like to discuss.
Probably the one thing that annoys me with adventure mode PvP is that the attacking ship will basically never have its own set of loot on it.
So for the defending player, it feels like a lose-lose situation where at best you are wasting time and at worst you lose it all, whereas the attacking player has everything to gain and nothing to lose outside of their own time (after all why risk your own loot stealing someone else’s). I think if you sink an enemy ship, even with no loot on it, they should reward you in some way. Maybe there’s a system that tracks your sinks with loot onboard while you are an emissary similar to the Hourglass Faction Stash Grade, and awards you money when you lower your emissary flag. Ideally you’d want this to be balanced around defense rather than offense, which in not totally sure how to do, but I’m not a game designer so IDK.

Ive had 1 toxic moment in 4 days of ps5 SOT and it was a PC player who joined called us N word told us to get him loot and there was nothing we could do about it and i found out all you can do is lock them in the brig is crazy
Never play on open crew, that is one of the worst choices you could make since you have no idea what kind of people will join, especially since toxic players are so prevalent in this game

I'm a 36 old father full time job never cared for any pvp games love pve games but safer seas even sucks on this game with harsh penalties and can't even use your own ship. I paked for about a week as a new player and can't do anything on higher seas with out a constant fight even in spawn in just getting on is bad. Cool looking g game. But bad for us full time job dads lol.
It's best when you have a crew that you can trust, 3-4 players that trust each other will be better than a bunch of Randoms playing together 90% of the time. There are exceptions though

@@boopjack9522 When Safer seas was made for pve players. High seas is still pve/pvp, but pvp is more active now. You sign up for it whether you want it or not. That's the trade off. No risk, 30% cut. Full risk. 100%

@@OttomanLebanonlearn how to play on safer seas. If you don't care to much about commendation then safer seas is also good for the first 9 or so tall tales. Once you're comfortable with controlling your ship in pve then try high seas and possibly intentionally look for fights if you're up to it

Actually, when I play as a reaper I rarely hunt people down unless they are emissary grade 5, because I can just do voyages from any other trading company (excluding cargo and animal fetching quests for the merchant alliance) but just give everything to the Reapers at the Reapers hideout. Also btw as a reaper, something I recently realized can be useful for selling your loot faster at the hideout is to put all you loot on a harpoon rowboat and then use the harpoon to pull the boat all the way inside the building and then you no longer need to walk all the way back to your ship to sell the next item
