- 推定樹齢200年近いイタジイです。1枚あたり最大厚さ18cm、500kg超の極厚に製材しました！
水に強く腐れにくいため、建物の土台等によく使われる材です。
九州は宮崎県、霧島山の麓で夫婦で製材所を営んでいます。
木に取り憑かれて半世紀の男のロマンを発信中！
国産材、自然乾燥にこだわってやってきました。

主人の木目模様
を見る目が楽しそうですね。いい木目が現れた時のご主人の誇らしげな表情はうらやましいくらいです。
奥さんとの二人三脚でゆっくり作業されているのに好感が持てます。
ご幼少のころ、近所の製材所でしょっちゅう見てました。近くによって見ていると
「ガキはあぶねえからあっち行ってろ！」と怒鳴られます。今は懐かしい思い出です。
稲刈様、返信が遅くなり申し訳ありません。私もそのように言われながら育ち、我が子にも言っていました！男の子は特に見たがりますよね。どうか、これからも動画を見て楽しんで下さい。
丸太を挽く動画は数々あるが、きりしまさんの動画が一番落ち着く、木がいいのか、挽き手がいいのか、その両方か、音声消して音楽（ブルースとかクラシックとか）流しながらまだ見ぬ世界が絶妙な手腕で挽かれて現れてくる瞬間は美しい、、そうか楽器も「ひく」だった。。深い経験と知識、そして今あるべき世界への敬意、それらが奏でる世界は美しい、偉大な木々（楽曲）と偉大な挽き手の奏でる世界。もちろん伴奏者のお母ちゃんも絶妙。

自然の木は1つとして同じ木はありません。どんな表情を見せてくれるか、いつも楽しみに仕事をしています。
近年は材木の需要も減ってきています。masa setoさんのように感じて下さる方が増えるといいなぁと思います。

広葉樹は粘りがあるのでギリギリまで切っても落ちにくいです。針葉樹は厚めに残します。木と対話しながら見極めています。

これだけの重量ですから、少しでも配置のバランスが崩れて、帯鋸が跳ねて暴れたら、どんな悲惨な事態が起こるかわからない、、、そんなぎりぎりで常に見切れるのは、昔の剣豪と一緒、、良い子は決してマネしてはいけません、、ほんの少しでもマネしようと思ってもいけません。絶対に。

撮影編集は義理の息子が担当しています。
最後2枚の玉掛けとかでなんとなくベルトかけてる感じなのに、板を剥がした後に左右のバランスがバッチリなのは偶然なんだろうか。

あまり帯鋸に近いと破断時に大怪我する恐れがあるのでものが引っ掛かりしづらい時は必ず機械ストップして異物除去して安全確認してくださいね😄

I in no way wish to tempt fate but why does that guy still have all his appendages intact. He must have mad mutant regenerative powers like Wolverine.
I like how the have a blend of new and old technologies. Enough new tech where it is appropriate and cost effective. Any plant that is still doing a good job is retained to keep cost overruns in check. That was something we had to be aware of in the IT department was to not add massive computer systems everywhere we could just because we could.

How long does it take to mill that size of log ? It sure was stringy like cedar.
I suppose it would take too much time, but have you ever counted the rings to see how old a tree was?? Great video!!

I noticed that they did not cut all the way to the end of the log. They must be breaking the slabs off. Why? Does the slab break off cleanly or do you loose some of that end?
Because they don’t have slab arms on the out feed side. The master leaves 1/2” at the end so in order to bring the trolly back to unload. He then cuts the 1/2” off before sawing again
@@1000BARGE There is also the point that they dont have an auto setback on the carriage bunks, and if the blade is run out the end of the log and the log moves even the slightest bit, very possible without effective dogs, the log will pull the blade off the headrig on its return run.
But this mill is not a production mill, and I suspect that they're custom sawing very high value hardwood logs for the likes of furniture. A production mill would run a log like that in 60 to 90 seconds depending on what resaw system was downstream.
This is hard work. But there is no security. In a country like Japan.
What are they making with slabs cut this thick?

What type of phone do you have, IPhone or Android? I am using an Android phone and all of the comments that are not in English say "Translate to English" at the bottom of the post. I am NOT impressed by the workers SAFETY standards whilst executing their duties anddddddddddd whilst operating what seems to be ANTIQUATED instruments and equipment. PLUS , one of the workers appears to be wearing SOFT / NON protective footwear and gloves along with NO dust guard over his mouth / nose whilst operating the saw.
Lose your hands there quickly
