  • Most automotive outlets, including Motoring TV, concentrate on new car reviews, yet many consumers are shopping for used or "previously owned" vehicles.
    So with that in mind we introduce you to Yuri & Jakub, simply good friends, with limited disposable income, who enjoy driving together.

    I have a 2006 Matrix XR that I bought new in 2005. It is the best car I have ever owned, and I am 70-years-old. Only non-maintenance repair in 13 years was a broken gas tank strap (luckily, there are 2 of them - lol). I can still kick it up to 80mph on freeways with no shimmy or vibration. It just turned over to 60K miles, and the guy that valets at the garage where I park it has been trying for years to buy it from me - no way. It gets about 35mpg highway, and I hope to drive it until I croak.

      @@fazlayrabbee2833 I use a '09 Matrix and haven't had any awful issues. My gas line froze in -30F one winter, and squirrels lived in / ate some cables inside the car that had a high repair cost of around $1,000. Other than that (both due to outdoor storage), it's been very reliable.

    My Dad had one of these for years, until he had a major engine problem (which wasn't the car's fault, it was due to a problem on a sketchy road) and I remember this was my favorite of all the cars that my family has had. Watching this video brought back some serious nostalgia

    I had a 2005 Matrix 4WD XR and, let me tell you, I used to blaze through the snow. That was amazing. I moved all kinds of stuff, too--loved the completely flat floor. I should never have traded it in, damn it.

    I have had the 2007 Matrix for 10 years, i now have 300,000 miles on it with less than 6000 in maintenance spent, i bought to commute back and fourth to work, its been an amazing car, its also great for taking the dogs to the lake and helping friends move. GREAT Car, not sorry in any way that i bought it, its just sad that people dont see you in time and love to tailgaters , i have been rear ended 4 times. the car will blow the doors off any car on the highway its fast, not sure why they say its not in this video, because it does. not a bad buy or i just got the best of the cars that was made that year. :-)

    I've had my 04 matrix xr since it came out. It now has 430k miles (odo reads 299,999 but i keep a scangage). The only thing that gave up on me was the output shaft bearing in my 5 speed transmission when it hit 400k. Luckily it broke down close to my house. I replaced it with a celica gts c60 transmission. It feels a bit faster, but because the rpms sit a little higher. The 1zz still runs like a champ! It's a very slow, basic commuter car, but it suits my needs, especially on high mpg. I get 40mpg in the HWY on flat, ideal conditions, but usually linger around 38.

      @Hendi Lim haha 225,000 kilometres is NOTHING for a Matrix. A Corolla 2005 with 1ZZ-FE shared with matrix just sold with 736,000 kilometres last week. It was in Victoria BC with original engine & tranny. I too have a Matrix, it’s a silver 2006 base auto 244K kilometres with only option being A/C ( it still works ) these cars are bulletproof, & they don’t tend to rust that much. Me being a Canadian I’m familiar with other rust bucket cars.

    I don't know why, but odometer on those cars stops at 299.999 ,and the car still runs like a champ 4 year after about 420.000 on it right now. 2starters,2alternator , 10 sets front brakes, 4 sets rear brakes , 12 sets of tires ,2 divers side door handles, clock spring, power steering pump, and 2 power steering rail, 4 batteries. Spark plugs coils, 4 timed front rotors, 2 times rear drums.
    PIZZA DELIVERY CAR. IN 15 YEARS AROUND $250.000 income -$for car it's self an maintenance.

    • @zzoinks
      @zzoinks 9 місяців тому

      It's dumb that Toyota odometers have that problem, but it's good that the car last so long! I think I've heard that some people on eBay can repair the odometer glitch. Maybe I'm wrong though.

    • @zzoinks

    The XR is a slow turd you guys should've test drove the XRS model with the 2ZZ-GE it's fast and can keep up with a lot of cars also the Matrix isn't an SUV that's stupid to even say it's one step up to an SUV it's a Sports Wagon converted into a Hatchback.

      @North Country Outlaw nope you might be confused with a different Toyota. They have Corolla parts & my grandma had a 2007 Corolla, she never had a transmission problem ever. I’m talking about the automatics. There’s no transmission difference in 1st Gen Matrix automatics. Aisin transmission that is known to run for 800,000 kilometres. If you’re talking about the manual transmissions, well that whole bearing issue was from drivers that forgot to change the manual transmission fluid ( AKA gear oil ) splash lubrication. Again, I’ve seen the manuals last a LONG time too. Did you end up getting one. If you ever have any Matrix questions don’t hesitate to ask me. I’ve got a silver 2006 model
