Well, I’ve been contemplating how I’m going to get my gray transmission case blacked out, and this video is exactly what i needed. As tedious as it may be, if it’s worth doing then it’s worth doing right. Thanks guys!
Looks good. There's a wrinkle black paint just for that purpose versus the flat black high heat header paint. If you ever come back here, let us know how it held up.
I'm planning on completely blacking out my tired old Honda Shadow. The chrome on it has long since rusted away and is ruined, so some new paint should help bring it back. Thanks for showing me I can do it with the engine still in the bike.
can I ask how the paint have hold up after you have driven it? you did not use primer or anything which make me curious have the paint is now several month later. thanks in advance :)
That is what's up my man!!! I've been wanting to do this for a long time to my sporty and I already this paint for blacking out parts. How many coats did you use? How's it holding up? How many cans did it take?
There’s factory hd wrinkle paint, it’s very good stuff but very expensive. £50 per can, I’m in the middle of spraying mine. Been prepping for the last 5 weeks.
No idea. I am in FL and local PD told me it's generally ok as long as the red lights can't be seen from the front of the vehicle They did say however, red lights and blue lights on any vehicle can be an issue. I mostly put them on when sitting in a parking lot with my riding buddies. 😉
Thanks Robert Saunders. So far so good. No chips, flakes, or scratches. Looks as good as the day it was done (even the fins) despite occasionally having oil get on it. Hopefully, it will stay like that! :-)
Great video. My main concern is the fins... My Honda Shadow's factory coating or paint is flaking off leaving exposed metal! Looks! Horrendous! Maybe i can sand off as much as i can before i apply the rattle can.
paint raw aluminum will never hold paint wait about 2 months & it will chip & look like shit you just devalued your bike..the black out is a fad just like blacked out rims on a car looks like someone stole there hub caps
Joe C. It has been well over a year and is still as nice as the day it was done. Will post some updated photos when time permits. Appreciate you watching and providing feedback. Be sure to let me know when you do yours. Would love to see it!
Dude the best thing about this video is that you are doing it with your son. Great video thanks for sharing.
Ayyy hold hands
Yeah buddy! Quality time for sure. :-)
I concur, your Chauffuer, J Bruce, Hollywood North. ( Van, BC. )
Can we have some updated pictures of how it has held up?
Nice! Love seeing a diy job in a realistic home environment.
Nathan Ampudia. So glad you like it! I have thought about your comment often. Appreciate your taking the time to provide feedback.
Those bag tail lights are dope! The blackout highlighted that.
Just did this to my bike after watching this tutorial , and it turned out great a lot better than I expected good work guys keep the content coming

Great job! Looks awesome brother!
How did it hold up after time

You dont use primer with high temp paint. The primer would have be high temp as well for that to work.
hows the paint holding up?
Turned out better then I expected
Looks great. How has it held up?
Looks good bro
Thank you Dogboy Endicott. Appreciate the encouragement. Hopefully, it provided some useful information.
@@VincentAutenrieb it did bro, ride safe
What tape you use sir?
I have a dyna that already has black engine cases but they are stained. Wondering how the paint held up and if any of it has flaked off or anything
Was wondering that too
Looks great!
Thanks!
Turned out WAY Nice !!! - Good Job !!
That is what's up my man!!! I've been wanting to do this for a long time to my sporty and I already this paint for blacking out parts. How many coats did you use? How's it holding up? How many cans did it take?
Thanks Shane Keyes! Sorry for my slow response. It still looks as good as the day it was done. It took 2 cans of paint and 2 coats.
@@VincentAutenrieb thanks man!!! I'm going to be doing it soon and you helped make that decision!
Thank you! It took two cans, two coats, and it still as good as the day it was done. 👍
@@VincentAutenrieb I did mine about 6 months ago and it looks awesome! Has held up great! Thanks again!!!
Man... the tank is 2 bolts and 2 hoses and 1 tiny ground wire... soulda saved some time. Looks good though 👌🏻
Yeah...probably would have been quicker in retrospect. Thanks Tyler Cobler. Appreciate the feedback.

Amrinder Dhaliwal. Thank you so much for your feedback. I am glad to have been able to provide it.
Looks awesome, waaay cheaper than buying all the blackout parts .

Great job mate let’s see that scooter in the back ground rip a skid 🤙
great result
Would it be legal to add a light above the engine like that in CA?

Thank you and yes...every single ^$#@ bolt! 😉
Just did mine like this, looks so sick, thank you!!!
Love the work boots
Looks good guys
Thanks Cole Patrick. Appreciate the feedback.
THAT IS GOING TO BE A NIGHTMARE REMOVING THOSE 12 ROLES OF BLUE PAINTERS TAPE. LOOKS GOOD THOUGH!
I LIKE THE COLOR, THANKS
Great job!!
Just a quick question is it holding up well? Was thinking of doing the same to mine
Hi Joe C. Engine still looks as good as the day it was painted. Real happy with the result. :-)
I wish I had the patience (read 'not too fucking lazy') to mast my bike off like that...
Looks great

Legit concerns for sure Nathanial Selvidge. For what its worth, no flaking yet so fingers crossed. 🤞👍😁
Yall did great on this that looks amazing ps. I like the helmet i just bought the exact same one😁
Just liked for the son's editing 😅
That bike has some strong suspension.
Don’t be a dick to a guy working on his knees probably more work than you do to make something better you keyboard warrior
That's sick!!
I can’t believe you didn’t just remove the tank.
Sweet...
I am going to do Mine in Silver...wish Me Luck...
If your gonna do it....
Muss nicht immer kompliziert und teuer sein. 👍🏻.
Nur die rote Beleuchtung ist etwas Gay… 😜😂
